i put one on DS and havent gotten any comments except from friends who say things like 'aww a necklace' and then i just explain what it is. if people are giving you negative comments just ignore them. you no what it is and that its working for him so who cares what others think

I just say that it is worth not dosing him as much nurofen as I would if he didn't have it.
DS loves it, and hates when he doesn't have it on.
I actually had someone ask me today about it, saying that she had never actually seen a real one.
We love them here. My mum is the only one who has commented, she freaks out about DD swallowing it. Everytime I pick her up, she isn't wearing it and Mum mentions 'it came off' yeah sure :rolleyes:
I've had the mil specifically call me to tell me that she was worried about dd wearing a necklace and choking. I just said to drop it, my decision and that I'm never far away from her coz we co-sleep too. She never brought it up again!

thanks everyone, made me laugh.. I now feel a lot better about the situation.
I have convinced childcare to finally leave his necklace on, everytime I would pick him up it was always in his bag. They have now done some of their own research on the internet and commented on how amazing they sound, surprisingly he now has it on when I pick him up!
I just had a few comments back to back today, and being a bit PMT I think it really got to me.. But you are all right.. its my choice at the end of the day :)
ive never had any issues with day care and the necklace but he has stopped wearing his and jazz will start wearing hers
I just ask them what they think is a concern and them tell them what we do - when she was younger we put it around her ankle when she slept, and we showed them the individually threaded beads that has knots either side so reduced chocking risk if the string breaks as only one bead rolls loose. Plus the clasp is apparently meant to break under pressure... Seems pretty safe to me, especially if it alleviates the need for adding paracetamol or ibuprofen to their bodies.
I get annoyed when I am expected to justify myself to people for what I feel are informed choices.
Now-a-days I mostly just "smile and wave"...

I've copped a few negative comments, and just explain how it works and I'd much rather a necklace than dosing her up with medications. I do have a lot of people refer to it as her bling, thinking I just like to dress her up with a necklace, but I always explain it's for teething.
DD's centre is happy for her to wear it but they take them off for sleeping. Seems to me that there are less hazards for it to catch on in the cot than in the play room, but I'm happy with the compromise. A few years back they wouldn't allow them at all.
yeah my only negatives have been my mum and MIL, both think I am turning Luke into a girl, mum understood after I explained whta i was about and the fact he is sleeping thru and doesn't seem to need nurofen every 2nd night anymore\
MIL well can't be bothered explaining cause she just rolls her eyes at me, wait till mine arrives and I start wearing it LOL
I've actually had heaps. I think because its a boy wearing it? DH was a bit funny about it... But he got over it... But ive had lots of people asking "what the heck is that?" and then looking at me like I'm a nut case. Ah well.
I've only had one negitive comment about allowing a boy to wear a necklace, from my brothers friends mother. She said "what does daddy think about you wearing a necklace?!" I said, "Daddy wears a necklace, too" (he wears a silver chain) Shut her up pretty quick smart ;)

My mum thinks it's cute, too. And my MIL wears amber herself as she gets nerve pain, can't remember what its called, fibromyalgia?
Most people I've come across think they're a bit wa**y. My dad calls it a 'hocus pocus necklace'. Couldn't care less really, it looks cute and works.
