Questions about FTB and PPL following birth of baby?

Just wondering how long others claims have taken to be processed? I applied for PPL about 6 weeks ago to commence in June. I have not heard a word or received anything online to confirm.

Also with FTB (I receive part A for my older children) I expected new bub would be added but nothing there either. I didn't want to call and see what the process is if this is a normal wait and I assume it must be.



Also it says when you receive PPL you don't receive family tax benefit. My sister tells me that that includes prior to the PPL commencing. As I elected to start receiving it 5 months after bub was born does that mean I will not receive anything until the 18weeks after its completed? I assumed it would only stop for the 18weeks I would receive it not the period before it started?

i know you cant get FTBb whilst getting PPL, but also would have thought it was just whilst you were activly getting payments. maybe with that your income est. bumped you up so you aren't eligible for FTBb at all due to income?? I have no idea sorry.

my centrelink stuff was sorted within the week. and i put it in 2 weeks before xmas! so wasn't expecting it at all. was really surprised it was all done so quick at such a busy time of year.

Yes I am not eligible for FTBb but do get the part a. I assumed I would get that for DS too. I have not even heard if I am going to receive the PPL. Its been 2 weeks since I went in to Centrelink with the paperwork. And I did apply online 2 weeks before too. I have not heard anything either way.

Processing can be up to six weeks after lodging claim, sometimes longer

You can't get part b of ftb while you receive ppl - but only oart b and only for the period you receive ppl. If you delay receiving ppl you will receive oart b (if entitled) until your ppl starts
