Imogen continues to do amazingly well ~ spent 6hrs off cpap yday & managed well. She looks so beautiful. The haematoma on my liver is getting bigger which is incredibly painful. BP still too high but has become more controlled since birth. Still in a bit of a bad way they expect I will be here 4 a couple of weeks. I have to stay whilst I have the haematoma.
Thats great news. I hope Deb continues to get well as well

Welcome to the world tiny Baby Girl.

Deb - Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little girl, Imogen.
Well done Imogen on doing so well, your such a strong girl just like your Mummy.
Deb get well soon, I`m often thinking about you.
Congrats!! Beautiful name that you chose too! I hope things continue to improve, you are in my thoughts.
All the best
Just an update - I spoke to Deb last night. Imogen has had a few hiccups but yesterday was breathing well on only a small amount of help from CPAP (keeps the airways open to make it easier to breathe) with a small amount of oxygen, good colour and taking feeds well. Deb was very relieved. She is 2 weeks old, just under 1kg and things are currently positive.
Deb is not so well. She has HELLP syndrome (Haemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes, Low Platelets) which is part of pre-eclampsia. This was the reason she was shipped to the RBWH and why Imogen was delivered early. Her blood pressure has only just started to come down but she still has a large blood clot on the liver which continues to grow. She is being monitored closely for this. Her spleen is double the normal size due to the work is has to do with the blood that is breaking down (the haemolysis part). That means Deb has quite severe pain that is not easy to decrease. She had a PICC line in (special long term intravenous access) that clotted so she is trying to avoid another one. Her veins are shot due to the steroids she was on during the pregnancy so she is now on oral analgesia rather than the intravenous type. She also has a wound infection from the c-section
Overall, Deb is having a rough time but is still in good spirits and looking at the positives. She was relieved Imogen was delivered safely as the placenta was grainy and had started to break down. The OB didn't think Imogen could have survived much longer. Neither could Deb. Her DH and children are doing OK too. She will continue to be monitored and hopefully both will be well enough to get transferred to a more local hospital with a special care nursery in a few weeks.
She sends her love and greatly appreciates the messages of support, positive thoughts and prayers.
Oh Michelle thankyou so much for this update! I have been thinking of Deb everyday wondering and wondering! It's late now but I'll go to bed and say a prayer... hoping that Deb's pain will ease, that the haematoma in her liver will resolve itself and that little Imogen will continue to thrive!
Michelle, thank you. I knew about the HELLP. Can you pass HUGE hugs onto Deb? And let her know what my GF also suffered with this (& delivered a baby girl at 26 weeks. 3 years later they are BOTH fighting fit.)
Deb & Imogen are never far from my thoughts.........
Thanks Michelle...
Deb & Imogen, I am praying for you both to be home safely & soundly soon....
