In the meantime, make the most of the rest you get while he's in there........you'll never get it again LOL! Hi all

got another update from BW - Samuel's BSL's have levelled out nicely today, but he was, when she last messaged, still in the SCN. he has an NG tube in but they were planning on trying to BF at some point today. Mummy got some cuddles this morning, which has made her much happier

i have messaged her asking for contact details at the hospital so i can give her a call tonight and see how she's going. her SMS messages are fairly happy, and as someone who has received LOTS of BW messages, i can promise she's doing pretty well!

not long off the phone after a HUGE chin wag with BW (while my DH cooked dinner!) - she is sounding fantastic! Samuel is doing pretty well, still on NG tube, and using formula while BW expresses to try to bring her milk in. she is doin really well, and has been able to have skin to skin cuddles today while they had a go at BF. she described her labour as very hard and fast, going from around 5cm to pushing in a matter of only a few contractions, so is feeling sore, and has realised being "brave" and declining pain killers isn't smart tonight!

Thanks for the update BG. She certainly has done very well birthing her little man, she should be proud of what she has accomplished. I hope he's out of SC very soon, so she can establish b/f, and take him. Hopefully in time for Christmas :pray:

Oh BW - that is fantastic news!

May I tell you that at the same time you were giving birth, I was farewelling my school and I used an image of a butterfly flying out of a box as my final slide!

My farewell present was from a shop called Butterfly Silver!

And finally, two butterflies have been playing together in my front garden.

I am so, so happy for you and DH that Samuel Angus has made his way into the world.

Hope motherhood brings you all the joy you deserve!

I thought having him on the last day of term very appropriate too! (even if it was only for us poor public school people LOL)

another middle of the night message from BW - and an excited one this morning - Samuel has successfully BF! not a lot as still not much milk, but he attached beautifully and is doing quite well. he's also a lot more alert today than he has been, so she's a happy mummy

will leave details for BW to fill in, but i know there are a lot of BB'ers that follow her journey, so i'll post in here

her hope last night was that Samuel would be ready to go home for Christmas - if not, she is going to ask to stay in longer so as not to be apart from her boy at Christmas

Thanks for that BG - wow, it sounds like he's doing fantastically, and the more she can snuggle and BF the faster her milk will be. Mine took from birth on saturday 6.20pm until Tuesday evening 9 or so pm to come in and that was with 2-3hourly feeds, but DD still regained her birthweight and more in that time - that colostrum is great stuff tell her! ;)

Oh i REALLY hope he can come home for christmas, that'd be such a great gift.
