A little late in this as I've been away (but I hope you relayed my congrats via sms, BG! Lol!)
Congratulations BW on the safe and timely arrival of your little man, Samuel!!
i relayed lots of messages Sush - i'm hoping yours was one of them! they're all still on my phone to pass on when BW is home again - will put them all in an email and forward them over for her!
latest update while i'm here - BW has had success with BF yesterday for a couple of feeds, and been intruduced to the torture device known as a pump!
she was saying last night that she hopes the baby in the next room would sleep so she could snooze before next pumpin session at 4am - couldn't help but giggle - sometimes babies just don't fit mummy's sleeping patterns!
Well done BW:clap: and welcome to the world little Samuel!!!
Fingers crossed that you all get home in time for Christmas!!!
Congratulations BW and DH! :bluecheer:
Welcome Samuel!

Good luck with the breastfeeding (and pumping, ugh) and hope the stiches are more comfortable now.
Huge congratulations to you all on the arrival of your little miracle boy! Sounds like you've done a wonderful job bringing him into the world and I wish you all the best for your Christmas together as a family!

Welcome to the world little SAMUEL ANGUS :bluecheer:
What a great birthday he has - looking forward to sharing the adventures of parenthood with you xx
How are you all doing BW? I hope you are all settling in at homex xx
just an update - BW is, as far as the last update i got yesterday morning, still in Hospital with Samuel - at 5am yesterday, he'd just managed his way through his first full 2hour of "suck" feeds. there is talk of him being home by New Years but no guarantee
Samuel had a few bad days in there where he was put back on monitoring and things, so it's been a long 10 days for all of them, but he is definitely getting stronger and closer to going home
thinking of you BW and samuel
hope you can get home to your own house very soon
Thanks for update BG. Come on Samuel keep up the great work!!!! hugs to mummy and daddy
well done, BW, congratulations on the arrival of your little man Samuel. health and happiness to you!!!
Congrats BW hope you are all well!
Thank you to everyone.
My phone ran out of text message memory today - so many text messages that I wanted to keep so I just had to wait until I was home to download them on the computer, and now I sit here completely overwhelmed and in tears at all the lovely messages people have left.
It was a rollercoaster few days - the amazing highs of having my little boy attack and suck well, and the crushing lows of desaturations over night and being harnessed to the monitor and not being allowed to try breast feeding (not nearly so bad as not being allowed to pick him up that first night in the nursery).
We are home now - both of us. And exploring the joys of formula, sterilisers, breastpumps and how best to organise the nursery.
A little disappointed that we never really got the breastfeeding thing under control, but in the end I was just so keen to get him home, and my supply was so low that staying to get it established seemed like we'd never get out of the hospital ever, so we've gone with formula and dribbles of breast milk that I can give him, and hoping that when he's bigger and stronger we can have a better go at breastfeeding.
As for heroics of just gas... there was no time for anything! It was a reasonably quick posterior labour until they turned me onto my knees... and then it became a very quick labour. In the end, with his cord wrapped around his neck twice and quite tangled, I'm just so immensely blessed to have him here at all.
It's taken me over half an hour to finish typing up this one post!
And in due time she gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, for she said, "I asked the Lord for him." 1 Samuel 1:20

Welcome home hun. I am so glad to hear that it's all going so well.
How fantastic that you are both home! Well done for giving the breastfeeding a damn good go.
Maybe now that you are home and in a bit more of a relaxed environment, that your milk may be re-established for you.
The main thing is that he and you are both well and striving. God bless you all xx
