Hi everyone...
thank you so much for your wishes!
I've arrived home this afternoon... tired, bit sore, but soooo happy.
Shelli is just beautiful... and is like a mini-Shaun (but his cheeks were huge!).
I will get some photos online ASAP... but not tonight.
her weight was 3.41kg ~~ 7lb 8oz (close caro ;) )
She was 50cm long... head 34.5cm
She has LOADS of dark hair!
As Caro mentioned.. after the c/s I had some excessive bleeding... but that was controlled in recovery.
I had requested that the baby be bought to me in recovery - so instead of being the first c/s (at 1pm)... I ended up being last (3pm) so that they could ensure I had a midwife available in recovery. That was really special - and she went on the the boob really well... and I got lots of cuddles.
Back in the ward, I was lucky to get a private room (in a public hospital). That has been wonderful - to have privacy and my own bathroom. The midwives were great (Monash Medical).
I was really keen to breastfeed, as I had no milk with Shaun... and he lost a lot of weight in his first couple of days... and went onto formula.
I was feeding Shelli regularly - and I thought everything was going well...but when she got weighed she had lost about 9% and when whe was weighed the next day, she had lost more then 10%. So it seems I was not producing the milk that I thought I was. We gave her one supplement formula feed (which she gobbled down)... and we all got an action plan organised. If she did not regain some weight... the hospital would not have released me today.
But thankfully, she regained 900grams today...and we went home in the afternoon.
Admitably, she has been really tired (and the heat is a bit much)... and she hasn't drunk much today. But I'm working on it. I will do the very best I can. But I'm not going to beat myself up if I have to supplement.
talking of which... I better go and feed my little blossom.
Thank you to everyone.... the messages here, the SMS's, the phone calls and the visits.
Sorry you weren't near your computer when you got the message Caro to make the announcement. (Shopping was more important ;) ) Thanks for all your calls recently.
Karen... thanks for the beautiful gifts! OMG they are beautiful!
Photos will be online soon. Hopefully tomorrow.
thanks again,
Jodie

Welcome home Jodie! I hope you mean she has put on 90 grams today and not 900!
Mmm... good point Danni... let me get the notes (I was only going by memory when I wrote that)...
She was born 3410 grams
then lost 300 grams = 3110 g
then lost 50 grams = 3060 g
Then gained 95 grams = 3155 grams
Shaun has been fascinated with her. He wants to hold her hand, and her feet... and poke her eyes out
He's been getting loads of attention from everyone... and his nanna bought him a big elmo (which is bigger then Shelli). So that is his "baby". He keeps putting his dummy in elmo's mouth (so cute).
When Shelli is in her basinette... he wants to be lifted up so he can see her.
I've only been gone 5 days - but he seems to have grown up so much in that time. And compared to Shelli - he looks soooo big.
Cant wait to see some pics!!!
