congratulations on the safe arrival of baby Evie!
Thanks for all the warm replies. I suppose I better provide a few more details.
Little Evie (Evelyn Jeanette) was born born at 8:58pm on Monday night via emergency c-section. I became quite ill on Monday with awful stomach pains (mixed with some early labour) and went to hospital that evening to get them checked out. Her heart rate was hitting 200bpm and I had a fever. After her heart drop to 80 then back up it was decided that she had to come out, it is suspected that I had contacted a virus. Due to the possibility of an infection I had to have a general anaesthetic rather than a spinal. Evie thankfully came out roaring, but had a temp of 39.5. So very lucky I went to the hospital when I did. All is well so far, no signs of infection in Evie and none in me. Both of us have been pumped full of antibiotics.
Evie was 3.56kg (7' 14''), 48 cm long and a head cirum of 36cm. So very similar to her big sister. Took to the breast very well in recovery, no waiting for her, she just grabbed the nipple and shoved it in her mouth :D Hopefully her good feeding continues.
Congratulations Astrid on the birth of your baby girl :cheer:

Yikes Astrid, how scary. Glad everything turned out alright in the end.
omg I just found this!! lol
Well done Astris - and welcome Evie!! Glad ot hear you are both doing well...
Enjoy your baby moon hun!
Thanks for stopping by to let us know how it went down Astrid. I have been kind of worrying on and off about you since i read it was an emergency section. I'm so, so glad you got to hospital before either of you came to serious harm. It must have been very frightening to have to take all that in when you had a fever and had so little time to digest etc. Well done for getting through it all!
Evie is just a GORGEOUS name (i'm baised about the names beginning with E :D), and she was only 0.5oz lighter than my DD too, so i'll admit i'm excited to see pics and check out how out bubs compare :). I hope you have a beautiful baby moon hun, you really deserve it.

Congratulations on the arrival of Evie! I'm glad to hear that you are both safe and well.
Hoobley - thanks for worrying. At the end of the day it was not too bad, preparing for a VBAC I was also preparing for worst case, so having to another c-section was a not too much of a shock, it was just the scenario I did not expect, especially with a GA. We were atleast able to lay down some rules with regards to a c-section.
I have put some photos in the gallery. Been a bad mummy and really have not taken enough so far. Feeding is proving to be difficult again (damn nipple mouth mismatch), so I have little time for much else.
Astrid she is BEAUTIFUL! Such a sweetie, and her expression in the second pic (obviously fresh into the world) is hilarious, like "wow, it's bright, what a fuss...". :)
I'm glad you're ok hun. I know with the VBAC prep you had accepted that another section was a possibility, but hardly anyone (even sections i mean) has to go through it like that, with the GA and all, and to have to do it without labour really getting going and all, i dunno, you're a toughie lady, dealing with all that. I'm really glad you are both ok, i hope the mouth/nipple issues resolve ASAP and the rest of your babymoon is chilled out :) How is your big girl taking to her baby sister i wonder?
