Congrats Nelle on the arrival of your new precious man Silas :confetti:
oh wow, i think a homebirth with no medical staff, no midwife, is that what is termed a "free birth"?

congratulation and welcome to the world Silas!
Congratulations on the quick but safe arrival of Silas.
Congratulations Nelle and welcome Silas.
Aww thanks so much guys! :D
It's been a full on couple of days, an hour long labour and Rans catching was really the easy part.
I did panic at the 30 min mark as I headed to the shower thinking that if the next few hours were going to be that intense I couldn't do it, but cheered up when I felt a head and needed to push soon after. :p
Was great to have Rans to catch, and Coby to tell the ambos (who were great) what to do and explain everything to me later to help me debrief.
But yeah, placenta troubles, still contracting cos of membranes stuck in the uterus, blood gushing out each contraction, disappointment that the ambulance didn't use sirens (still was my first ambo trip though!), only minor tear that needed stitches, being poked and prodded, membranes being cut out of me, heaps of people consulting here and there, being separated from Silas (understandable, but set us back with breastfeeding), a bung taking heaps of gos to get put in cos of my blood loss, very unsettled first night.
And then needing a transfusion, one bung causing tissuing in my arm (very very owie) so needing another put in, pediatrictions checking out abnormalities in Si (he's okay), and troubles with breastfeeding because it's tricky to feed with a bung and tubes in the way!
I really think it was tough because one thing would happen, we'd work through it and be fine, and then something else would go wrong - I just started to get really negative and think 'well what next'.
But I had lovely support, Rans and Coby were great, mum and dad have River and bring him for visits, and the midwives were really great, they spared one student middy for me in particular who was a good help in terms of tricking Silas into opening his mouth wider for b/fing. :D
So yeah, got back home this arvo, and here's hoping that it's smoother sailing from here on in!
Oh, and his middle name's Lane, so it's Silas Lane. :)
Thanks again, it's so nice to come home after such a big drama and see how much you guys care, it's really lovely. You're all so cool. xo

Congratulations Nelle!!!
Nelle, Welcome back! We are all so pleased to see you. You've been through so much (yeah derr, I hear you say). Please rest up and take some time. Gentle hugs to you :hugs:
Oh I see now! You poor thing; so glad for you that everything is good now. Bit scary, I bet.
Recovery vibes to you and your family, and congratulations again!
Wow, so glad that you and Silas are ok now. Must have been a huge stress on you all. I've be thinking of you and your family and hope that the next few weeks bring you much rest and bonding time with your little one...
Nelle!
CONGRATULATIONS! I haven't forgotten you - sorry I've been so late in messaging you - it has just been exhausting dealing with DS for the past few days!
I wish you fast healing and pray that the breastfeeding issues will sort themselves out quickly so that you can fully and truly enjoy your baby-moon!
Thanks for giving us some news straight away as we were all wondering how you were doing! Take care of yourself and your family and come back when you are ready!
Wow, what an eventful couple of days Nelle! I really hope you're feeling okay, and that the breastfeeding stuff settles right down for you both. Bummer about no siren, bl00dy ambos, least they could have done for you LOL!
Thanks for updating us so quickly, can't wait to meet your new little man (mmmm, I can almost smell that newborn smell through cyber space!), and get a River kiss - that's if he deigns to ever come home LOL.
Congratulations to you all... Welcome to the world little Silas!
What a birth story! I hour... wow.
Wow Nelle! Congratulations to you Rans and River! What a shock for you that it all happened so quickly. I'm glad to hear that you are both well.
:D OMG Nelle! Congrats to you!
Well done and welcome earthside little one!
Whoa - thems some serious goings on honey. Bloody ambos - I'll sort 'em out for you (my dad's an ambo - I must be the only person in the world who got taken home in an ambulance after having wisdom teeth out. Seriously. Didn't get the sirens either...).
I had some interesting times myself getting feeding established what with Euan being in special care and me being all tubed up, so I can relate to that feeling of despondency and the fear that one thing will lead to another - it will get there, just trust that you and little Silas will get your feeding groove happening soon!!
Hugs to you sweet - I hope that you are enjoying being home.
Well, if i drove an ambulance, i would put on ALL the sirens for you hon!
So superquick, and then complications heh? sorry to hear about the haemorraghing and tubing.
i wonder if you have Silas in your baby carrier - i wonder which fabric you ended up choosing (all those GORGY selections you posted on your blog). You have great taste!!!
congrats again Nelle!
Oh my Goodness!!! What an amazing story Nelle. Pretty traumatic really  I'm so glad to hear that you & Silas are getting better every day :D
Congratulations!
SO glad that you are alright Honey and that Silas is happily BF.
All I can say is WOW he sure knows how to make an extrance
I'm sorry you had so many dramas but well done on coming through it all. And that's going to make a great birth story for the rest of Silas' life LOL!!
I hope you are doing well now. Take care.
What an ordeal Nelle. Glad you are home and recovering.
BF'ing is hard enough without the pain of a tissued bung (OUCH!) and lines going everywhere! You must be exhausted with all the blood loss as well as sleep deprivation. I'm feeling for ya. Wishing you a speedy recovery love.
Oh, and Lane is a cool middle name! x
Nelle - you're an inspiration!! Sounds like you did an absolutely fabulous job coping with whatever life threw at you! I'm sure your story will give us all strength when it's our turn.
Well done and welcome to little Silas Lane (love the name!)
Good work to your family for the good support too...
All the best and can't wait to hear more later. :bellyrubs:
Nettie
Hehe, I asked dad on Sunday if you'd popped yet and he didnt' know then Jula ran up the driveway and said 'guess who had a baby!!'. So exciting but then I spent the rest of my day worrying about you! And 'Silas' is just perfect.....I love that it means 'Forest' (or something forest related anyway! Plus Silas from the NT) too...hehehe. You guys are just too clever with your names!
What a crazy time you've all had. I love that you felt a head and cheered up! Not too many women can say that during labour (let alone a speed-demon labour!). So has Rans baggsed all future baby catching?!! He must have been on such an adrenalin high! I'd love to hear his side of the story (hint hint Rans!).
Praise God you're all ok :) Praying feeding gets sorted soon and you adjust to life looking after three guys!
Oh, and I hear slurpies are GREAT when you've lost a lot of blood (second only to transfusions!).
Nelle! I've been offline for ages and have only just seen your birth announcement, welcome little Silas! Congratulations hun.

xo
LOL Cat, I think a slurpie or two might just do the trick for Nelle!
I laughed too Nelle when you said that you cheered up at feeling a head! Yep, not too many women coming out with that, such a Nelle thing to say! Hope your recovery is going well, and that you're both doing better and better every day :)
