How long does the DVD go for in minutes?
It's 6 minutes Tegan, great for showing clients if you are a doula, midwife or childbirth educator! Of course it's also great to have at home to see for yourself. It doesnt sound like much at all, but it's enough - it shows early labour, labouring in the room, in the bath, in the shower, the membranes rupturing and the birth - shows lots. Its beautifully choreographed to a lovely piece of music and is guaranteed to make you tear up!!!
So how come it costs so much?(DH wants to know, he's a bit reluctant to let me get it)
Because the woman filmed it, edited it and designed it herself, and she can only make them in small runs as she doesn't have/use a commercial company to distribute it - its so expensive. She does it all herself and has to cover her own costs, and it's her income. I wouldnt think she would make much per DVD and they don't sell in stores, so its not like she sells heaps.
Its excellent quality, not like those dodgy ones you see at hospitals - all those who have seen it above I think prove that ;) Many birth / baby / breastfeeding DVDs are priced high. I know a breastfeeding one that is $125 and comes very highly recommended.
ps. Tell him if you don't like it or think it's worth it, you'll sell it to someone else on BB. I am sure someone will take it off your hands :)
You convinced him! I'm gonna buy it tomorrow. Can't wait to see it!
LMAO :) Don't forget to let us know what you think ;) I know you will love it - guaranteed. I will send you a receipt so it's all tax deductible ;)
Kelly, is it a montage of photos or is it actual footage?
DVD is gorgeous i cant wait to use in childbirth ed to show active birth!!!
Reccommend all watch it and it is cheap compared to ther birth dvds
Julie, I watched it this afternoon, and it is footage, but in very slow motion, and there are some stills so it presents a bit like a montage. And all set to music......the only "real life" sounds you can hear blended in with the music, are the sounds of water.......
For me, it was the perfect combination of real life birth and beautiful production.........(it reminded me an awful lot of my 3 births, particularly my 2nd birth believe it or not, so it really hit a sweet spot with me.........)
Julie, 'What If' is videoed footage, 'In A Simple Way' is a montage - thats $59.95 but I didnt put it on BB as I didn't think people would want to pay that much for a montage - more so the educators.
oh girls well i just had to post in here to let eveyone no i have wached my dvd today and i just have to say I LOVED IT it was very good and i would recomend eveyone to wach it, i thought it was just beautiful it made me all teary even my dh sat and wached.ME personally i will be letting my 4 girls wach it as i think it would be great on explaining were babies actually come from..
thank you so much to kelly for haveing such a great and educatioal dvd i will be looking foward for the next one to come out:dance:
Glad you enjoyed it :) Knew you would, its been beautifully done unlike any other birth DVD.
Ok i have been slack, but i just went ahead and ordered it! Can't wait for it to get here.
"In a simple way" is gorgeous i love it maybe even more than "what if" i think that all woman should watch it!! much nicer than the typical birth videos i usually show woman!!!
I cryed watching them have watched them about 10 times each!!
Feeb, have you showed your ed classes yet? What responses have you been getting?
I have showed them only 1 times so far in classes as we currently dont have a dvd player at work they are ment to be getting us one!! so i took my laptop and showed them on that (but only a 17 inch moniter) so had to only show when in a small group and all groups in last month have been huge so unable to show 30 people on a lap top!!!
The couples who saw them loved them and made them realise how much in control they can be about what happens and what positions etc they can use.
I have showed other staff also and have had mixed responses depending on ther out look but I know at least 1 other midwife who is buying them!!!
Really?! What was the negative feedback? I think some people don't like couples being in control of their own experience... did you explain about doulas and private midwives too? One thing I worry about is people thinking thats what they automatically get in hospital, which I think they already do have visions of it all ;)
