Give it a go I think :)
My first birth was terrible, long, painful and I was in hospital recovering for 9 days. I just could not walk and was in such terrible pain. I had intervention after intervention and I was so young I had no idea.
My last 2 births have been MUCH better :) Next time I am going to have a homebirth.
I think you've done the right thing.

Can I just say if you can DONT have an induction. They are horrible. Let bubs come in their own time.
An induction usually ends up with a syntocin (sorry spelling) drip, which causes the contractions to come hard and painful, which causes you to want pain relief BAD, which leads to an epi and then either birthing on your back and tearing the crap outta you, or an emergency c/s because bubs is in distress or your not progressing.
If your wanting to have a good birth, that is the first step in sending it down the wrong path.
-
I completely agree about avoiding inductions!!! They ARE a much more painful way of going... to be avoided unless very necessary!
I was also just reading Trish's birth story (Alana's Calm Birth Story) that she posted today. Highly recommended reading! I think this story in particular might really help you visualise a positive outcome!

I agree with the other ladies...
What's everyones views on using things like Evening primrose oils to get cervix soft and ripe...?
Maybe first look at your options once again and make sure of your dates.
When did you start your last period and what's your due date from the dr.? NOT according to the scan cause they can be out by 1-2weeks easy.
-
Thanks ladies.
Last period 29/11/08, due date 5th Sept. Inducement on the 10th Sept for a couple of reasons, high blood pressure. I had also had 2 fractured vertebrae and have Sciatica, which I am suffering a ****load of pain from, I am now at the stage I can't do the housework and am having trouble looking after ds. To tell you the truth of someone told me I had to put up with the pain for a extra week I think I would cry. I'm just hoping and praying she comes before then.
-
 that she comes a few days early for you. Sending you lot's of productive labour vibes
-
Gosh! That's so soon! How exciting!!!!!!
Well here's to hoping and praying with you Mum2.
Will gladly send my mobile number and talk you through a few contractions if you like.
Even if you'd like to maybe just sms when the labour starts so we can "hold the space" for you. I'll even put the messages on the message board here for you as things progress so we can all keep you in our thoughts.
Have you had any Physio or Chiro treatments for the back pain?
-
I don't know 100% but I think things have started moving along. I lost my plug or part of it, I've been getting contractions since 5am this morning. 7 minutes apart, they haven't got closer but they have become a little more painful. I'm so tired because I couldn't sleep through them. Am I going into labour or is it just wishful thinking?
-
It sounds promising my love! Try and rest - do some visualisation/meditation. Take your Energy to your cervix and imagine it beginning to open and flower. You've had some plug come away - that is so so great! Your body is beginning to open to birth your baby.
If you can't sit still and need to move do so but squat if you can with a contraction - that helps to open your body and feel proactive.
I am sending you all the labour vibes I can - along with a hand to hold...

-
That's so true about visualization  your thought processes can be the best pain relief. The mind is a very powerful tool, use it. Imagine holding your baby in your arms... hold a piece of newborn clothing... look at photos of your DS when he was a newborn. You will get to the other side of pregancy with your baby in your arms :)
*lots of manageable labour vibes and virtual back rubs*
-
I just wanted to say my love I just got my *shiver* that I get.... You are going to do this birthing Goddess! You are and your body is a genius and knows what to do - your job is to believe and work with your beautiful body.
YOU"re having a baby!!!
-
That's great news!! Let mother nature lead you and utilise gravity wherever possible - especially at the crowning stage (hands and knees!). This will assist in opening up the birth canal and diminish the need for additional intervention.
Continue to breathe deeply and visualise your body opening up and gently moving baby down. Believe your birth into being...
Hopes and prayers are with you Mum2 - you can do it!!
