My capsules are a standard size like a panadol I guess. If you go to the fourth trimester discussion we have a PE expert. She did mine. I noticed a slight taste too, probably best described as like iron supplements.
More later im in a bit of a mess with my back and coming down with something that feels fluey, think those capsules will come in handy.

I would have loved to have had placenta capsules - it would have been great for the low milk supply I had unexpectedly with baby #4. But by the time I remembered my placenta, it has been in the fridge for too long - I was bummed dh did not remember to get it to the freezer sooner. So we buried it ... and gah! Obviously not deep enough, because a fox dug it up and made off with it!
Onto more successful placenta stories - at one birth I attended, the mama had a placenta smoothie recipe ready for me to make it up for her after the birth. It was juice, ice blocks, banana, strawberries and raspberries, and about a table-spoon sized chunk of placenta. After it had all been blended together, the mother said it tastes lovely, just like any fruit smoothie. The rest of her placenta she sent for encapsulation.
Revitalising this thread - has anyone encapsulated their own placenta? I'm thinking of giving it a shot when Pudding is born... That way if I fail, it's not like I'm letting someone else down ;) I've looked at a few tutorials on how to do it, and I think I'll be able to handle it.
What size capsules do you use? Where do you get them from? (There are heaps on eBay, are they okay?) How many do you get?

Ooh, really? Where in the chemist do they keep those? I suppose I've never looked, but I wouldn't have thought they'd sell empty capsules there...
I asked as I looked around and couldn't find the isle, but yep they have them and they directed me where to go :)
I am looking at doing this. I an high risk for PND, so want to do what I can to prevent it. I've pretty much stumbled across a local midwife who does it. I just need to find out price & process. She doesn't do the homeopath drops but hopefully I can work something out with my normal homeopath anyway.
i just need a way to explain to DH.

That would be good. It looks like it might be an interesting process keeping the placenta & putting it on ice in a private hospital.
In the fridge in a bag ;) Thats what I did - they offered to put it in there. Mine did pick ups and drop offs too - its the norm I think.
You could bring your own esky and ice packs into hospital with you for storage
This lady does pick ups and drop offs :) I'll FB you. A good tip I'm sure you've already need told is to mention repeatedly you're having a lotus birth (even if you're not) to increase the likelihood that they'll leave the cord and placenta alone.
yep, second PZ on that. tell them that you are doing a lotus birth. that way they really do a delayed clamping and leave the placenta intact etc.
tupperware in the fridge. the lady PZ and I used does pick ups and drop offs and is lovely with a capital L!
