I don't think I would be able to stop if someone told me not to push. Both times my body has taken over and I was pushing before I really had a choice. It just kicked in.
With Mia being my third bubs I never even got checked during my labour. When the scalp clip went on at 7pm, at 8.45pm I felt pressure so the midwife said give a little push. I did exactly that and next thing saw a bub in her hand. My DH said stop pushing....but I quickly said to him "I can't and I am not!" She was coming on her own.
God help the person who told me not to lol. And why wait for a dr....midwives are better at it anyhow!

I was told not to push even though I couldnt stop my body from doing it. That was probably the most painful part of my labour, *trying* to stop my muscles from pushing. Turns out I was ready to push anyway, the middies just didnt believe me cause it was my first baby and Id only beed in labour about 2hr15min. I can remember them telling me to pant for a sec so they could stretch the skin around bubs head so I wouldnt tear.
My OB didnt make it to the birth until the head was out, he just said "Oh youve got it under control" and went off to deliver the woman next room over from me lol I only had the 2 midwives. They rang him but I just went to quickly.
If someone was telling me not to push because my OB wasnt at the hospital yet Id be giving them a fly kick to the head and pushing anyway!
