    Third labor quicker???

Just curious was your third labour quicker than your second?? My first was 5hrs from first contraction to baby out with only 5 mins pushing, second was only 30mins from first contraction to baby out and also only 5mins pushing (lucky I was already at hospital when they started and already 6cms 5mins after they started) , I'm a little concerned if I have another I might not make it to hospital and whether it might be better to plan a home birth which I find a little scary is rather a hospital.

My 3rd was quicker although pushing stage was a lot longer. 4th was quicker still although pushing stage was even longer (1.5hrs) as he was direct OP and eventually needed to be turned.

Generally, once you have a fast labour (precipitate labour, which is actually a birth complication interestingly enough) your caregivers will be aware and put actions in place to help reduce the risk of you delivering in a situation you don't necessarily want to be delivering in. They will also discuss with you what to do in the event you find yourself "stuck" somewhere. Your second labour, if documented as those timings, is a precipitate labour so they will be onto it.

My 3rd labour was actually my longest at 49 hrs. My 7th was my quickest at 42mins total, so with #8 they discussed with me what to do in the event that i found myself stuck/in labour (it was call an ambulance). As it happened, i presented to my OB appt having contractions and dilation had begun (3cm) the day he was born so they wouldnt let me go home and i was sent straight up to labour and delivery, i asked to go and do a few things (the crazy things we think we are capable of doing.) and the answer was a very firm no because if my waters broke while i was away from the hospital i definitely wouldnt get back there in time and they wouldnt risk it. His labour was 2.5 hrs.

My suggestion is do what you feel comfortable with, it could be fast, it could be slow. Discuss every option on hand. Homebirth was not an option for me as i am high risk and the hospital i had to have my baby at was 30mins away, hence why my ob refused to let me leave that day.

My first 3 were pretty much text book with labour times ,around 12,8 and then 6,,obviously it would be an inconvenience but is there anyway it would be possible for you and family to stay somewhere closer to the hospital near due date, you do hear lots of stories of babies being born on the way to hospital and bubs and mum are fine ,happened to a friend of mine and she always says her husband was the most shaken ,out of them all

I live maybe 20 mins from the hospital anyway prob can't get much closer as its not really in a residential area, hubby would be pretty calm I think if anything happened and I think I'd be ok to handle it being a student nurse I'm more worried about haemorrhaging after birth

My 3rd was 3.5 hours (2nd was 6 hours). Only just made it to the hospital in time.
