Waters broke at home in bed 7am Sunday morning, though at first I had lost control, i was 3 weeks early. (DH still in bed), I still wasn't sure if my water has broke and was asking DH what he through. Rang the hospital to check what I should do has had no pain, advised to take my time have a shower and breakfast and come in. Will did this and packed a bag, then DH decides to get up and have a shower and breakfast. We finally got into the car and arrived at the hospital at 9am still had no pain just some twinges.
Started to get back pain and contractions around 10.30 and my DD arrived at 2.34pm Sunday.

I lost my plug a few hours into labour and when we decided to go to the hossy my waters were still holding out despite me being 10cm...which was an awful feeling, so tight in the tummy. I had strep B so had to go on a stupid drip for what felt like an hour (it kept stopping too which didn't help) then they broke them (even though I'd asked them to forget about the drip, just break my waters and keep bubs under observation after he/she was born but they didn't listen). I didn't have an urge to push so it still took a few hours until Caty was born. I really hope my waters break naturally next time....don't wanna be all ready to go but still have a belly full of water! Arg!

With my first my hind waters broke at about 5:30pm, just before DH got home from work, when he got home he told me to ring the hospital and he went for a shower. I had no contractions, got to hospital about 7:30pm, was confirmed that was hind water was admitted as I had high BP. First contraction at midnight they came every 5 mins all night, had ARM at about lunch time as bub was posterior and didn't have him until 7:49pm that night after an episiotomy and the vacuum extration as he never turned.
Second, I was 7 days over due and they induced me so had gels the night before and waters broken the next morning at about 7am, I was 2cm and had drip in and then had him two hours later at 9:14am.
Third, was having contractions so went to hospital and got admitted, was sleeping thru contrations and woke at 11:50pm to go to the loo and as I got out of bed my waters gushed everywhere, went to labour ward and was 4cm. Had him 2 hrs later at 1:58am.
Forth, was in hospital for hig BP and was incuced as it had turned into pre eclampsia had the gels in at about 9:30pm and water were to be broken the next morning at about 7am was 2cm and OB thought he had broken them (he hadn't), I refused the drip and labour til 7cm which was when they ARMed me at 9am and had him at 11am.
My trend is usually after waters break I have the baby 2hrs later. HTH.
hugs xoxo

Wow Cat having the baby born with the waters intact is very special in some countries!

I had a little gush and began trickling at 1am in bed but I also had an ARM at 5cm dilated during my induction as the gush turned out to be a hindwater leak. I am still shocked at the difference in the pain of my contractions before and after my ARM. OMG it was so much more painful after the ARM!!

They think my waters broke in the shower with my first labour. They broke in the hospital cafe with my 2nd baby though

With Briley my waters broke natually at 4am while i was on the toilet. I was 6 days overdue. I had lent forward to clean myself when i felt an air bubble rise into my uterus, a "POP!" and then heard the trickling noise into the toilet. At first i was'nt sure if i was still peeing or wether it was my waters. I called my mum and she said it sounded like it so i called the hospital. Contractions started immediately! Briley was born at 1.21pm that day.
With Colby, i asked for my waters to be broken artifically. I was 10cm dialted but my membranes were still intact. I was sure this was the reason the baby was'nt coming down. After the waters were broken i went back to being 8-9cm dilated!!! Apprarently the bag of waters were bulging so much they were holding my cervix open that 1-2cm's! I was'nt happy i can tell you as i had to go through more hard labour. I finally had her at 2.44pm on her due date! Almost 2 hours after my waters were broken!

First baby, I woke up at 6:30 am with regular strong contractions. Right from the start they were 5 min apart, but not too painful. My water broke at home after about 2 hours of this, just as we were getting ready to head to the hospital. (last pair of clean pants!) It was just as I was coming out of the bathroom after going pee. What a strange feeling! A warm flood all down my legs that I couldn't stop! But it did not startle or frighten DH or me. It was clear, and I didn't notice any odour. Labour became more intense after this, and I progressed pretty quickly. DD was born at 1:30pm that day - about 7 hours after the first pain.
With bub #2, labour started at 2:00am, or so. Again, pains five min apart from the start. Got to the hospital and walked and walked and walked, and not much happened. Pains continued, and HURT, but not a whole lot of progress. OB came in around 8:00, suggested ARM, which I agreed to, and DD was born 45 minutes later at 8:50 am, again roughly 7 hours after the first pain. I think it would have been shorter if my water had broken earlier.
Personally, I don't really care whether they break on their own or not. I just like them to break so that things can get a move on! I'd rather not sit around in labour for hours without much progress! Once things are happening, I want them to happen fast! :)

With First baby i was 14 days over they started the drip then an hour later broke my waters, DD was born 15 hours later.
With second birth (multiple) was admitted at 37+3 weeks at 3cm dialiated they started the drip then 20 minutes later broke my waters, my twin boys were born 4 hours later.
Third pregnancy was in bed went to roll over at 3am and my waters broke, i got out of bed thinking the waterbed had burst ...lol.... when i stood up my waters really gushed, contractions styarted almost immediately at 6 minutes apart and very strong and painfull. DD was born exactly 12 hours later.

My waters were artificially broken after 3 days of trying to induce me (2 x cervadil and gel).
My contractions started within 10 minutes and delivered DD just under 3 hours.

ok with 1st and 2nd babies I had my waters broken mid contration but with my 3rd baby they broke naturally but again mid contration I have only ever had very quick labors the longest was with number 2 and it was only 4 hrs the others were about the 3hr mark but once they start there is no brake until you have pushed that baby out.

My waters broke at 7:30 pm just as I was settling in to watch the Brownlow. I had been cranky and teary all day. My waters were a greenish colour so I had to go straight into hospital as the baby had fetal distress. I didnt have any contractions or anything until 4am that night, and James was born 9:40 am the next day after approx 5.5 hours.
needless to say this years Brownlow brought back many memories!!!

My waters broke late one afternoon after a power kick. I was sitting on the couch, talking with my Dad. We were both laughing at my belly dancing around and BOOM! Dad said that he actually saw an outline of Caeleb's foot in the side of my belly. I stood up and felt a little trickle. Thought I might have wet myself! But, then it started to gush. Contractions started an hour later.

At 37.5 wks, I didn't realise my waters were leaking, it was such a small amount of liquid. My waters leaked for two days before I called the hospital an they told me to come in to see what was going on. The dr had a go at me for waiting for so long to come in...how was I to know??!! I was monitored and then induced a few hours after being admitted. Turned out to be my hind waters leaking and the dr had to rupture my fore waters anyway. DD was born after a 24hr labour. She really was not ready to come. Next time I will not be talked into being monitored, induced or having ARM.

Hard to tell, I was in the bath at hospital, but I *think* my waters broke just before transition. The midwife must have seen something, cos she asked if I just felt anything, and I said yeah I felt a pop, and she said, okay, I guess that was your waters breaking. :)

I was 40+5 weeks. I woke up just before 5am with mild contractions. Within half an hour they were every 10 mins but not too severe. At about 6.45am I noticed that I was very moist down low, as if i had wet myself. I checked my pad and from the smell realised that it was amniotic fluid (I got my DH to check the smell too, just to be sure!). From then it just continued to dribble out. No big gush like I was told about, no one else would have even known that my membranes had ruptured. My contractions started to come every 2 minutes after this and that is when I decided I should give the hospital a call. DD was born at 5.31pm, about 10 and a half hours after my membranes ruptured.

My waters broke naturally at 2am after severel trips to the loo ( i felt like i was bursting to go and was on the verge of having an accident every trip) i was half way there on the last trip when i felt a huge gush. My contractions were 3-5 mins apart. I rang the hospital they told me to take a panodol, try and get some sleep (yeah right!) and come in at 7am unless the pain got really bad. long story short i went to the hospital at 3am and had her 2 hours later.

My waters were broken after I arrived at hospital at about 9.30pm. I had been in labour since about 3ish and when the OB broke my water it was very heavily meconium stained. It didn't hurt but the brown colour was quite frightening.
