10mins!!! is that just the pushing part or the whole kit kaboodle?
8 hours from start to finish with an extremely short second stage... The only reason I didn't go for more than gas is because everything happened too quickly. I hit the point where I seriously was NOT coping with what was happening, but that was through going from 5cm to pushing in the space of two contractions!
From my experience (going into labour early and with NO preparation mentally or physically), certainly make sure you go into the next one making sure that you are prepared for what's going to happen. You know what your body needs to do now, you know roughly what to expect and you should be able to develop strategies before hand to help you cope with what you are likely to face. The time shouldn't matter - but your mental state going into the next one will be very important.
As for me... I'm not sure there will be a second time! My labour would have been a whole lot shorter if Samuel hadn't been posterior at first... I'm scared that if the second one will be faster and doesn't start out posterior then I simply won't make it to the hospital!

hj1981 - I think it did in a way help me realise that I could give birth, I think I doubted myself the first time, I still have some regrets about the first labour, can't change what is in the past though.
briggsy's girl - I hope the calmbirth course helps with the anxiety, I did it for my second pregnancy and it really helped me get over issues I had with my previous birth, I highly recommend it!
My first was 3hrs and my second was 90min so definately quicker, and I found it alot less painful/intense.
