High BP and Protein in urine. Vey scared! Help

    Hi,
I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and normally my BP is fine. Today at my routine appoint at the Ob's it was around 150/100. He checked it 3 times, twice on the electronic machine and then on the pump thing. There was also protein in my urine. Never had that before either. I had to go and have blood tests and I see him again fri to be checked again. Im quite shocked as part from feeling tired I feel fine. re there any other symptoms of pre eclampsia tha I may not have noticed? Is it common for High BP and urine to return to normal after a day or 2? any suggestions on what I can do to make sure Bubs stays safe?

I hope everything is fine for you.

My advice would be to rest as much as you can, I think if they put you into hospital that is one of the main things they will do anyway (bed-rest).
I had raised BP & oedema after giving birth & was threatened with a return to hospital - I was told to rest & it did the trick. I'm not sure how that works is you are PG but I think it can only help.
I know stress etc can make it worse - try to relax & rest as hard as that is.

Maybe someone else who has been there can offer more advice...
Hope all is well for you hun

    Hi,

Sorry you're having to go through this. Its so stressful..... and stress is the last thing you need!

I had elevated BP (130/90) at my 28wk appt. I had just had a 10min walk up hill to get to my appointment. I was surprised at the BP as before that it had been fine. So of course I got on the net and googled myself crazy. So needless to say next appt I was so anxious my BP was even higher. I had bloods done and all was fine. No protein in my urine either. My OB had me rest as much as possible. I also hired a BP monitor from the pharmacy and kept and eye on my BP three times a day. My BP was probably usually 125/85 when at home but at my appts I could feel myself stressing the my BP was about as high as yours

Unfortunately you've just got to wait for the bloods to come back and then your OB will tell you what needs to happen. I asked my OB if I could go on BP tablets but she said no. I know other OBs have prescribed them though. Obviously all OBs are different in how they handle these things.

My advice 1) sit or lie with your feet up as much as possible 2) TRY to relax and just wait it out 3) ABSOLUTELY NO GOOGLING (I hope its not too late )

Things will work out just fine. On the up side... my OB told me BP problems are usually a 1st pg problem.

    HTH

glad to hear it down. I was induced 9 days early because of severe PE (170/125). My BP was flucuating (sp?) from about 28 weeks. One week its fine, the next its not. Yes its important to rest but still to get some exercise. Make sure u eat well. Not too many fatty foods! or none at all.

hang in there.. not long to go xox

Good to hear the bloods came back good and ur bp was good today

I had PE with my first. My bp rose slowly over a number of weeks and the protein increased with it. I also had swelling of my hands and feet.

Keep an eye on any headaches you might get, spots before your eyes or sudden increase in swelling of the hands, feet or face. If this happens, see a dr asap.

Hopefully it was a once off for you
