Had my preadmission interview with the hospital today, they seemed so excited when they asked if I had breastfed my first and I said I still was hehe. We have had 6 nights now without feeding overnight so are down to just the one feed a day in preperation for number two, very proud of how well my little lady has been sleeping without her access-all-hours-mummy-dummy, might have switched to backrubs earlier had I known it would only take two nights before she was sleeping through... 4 nights through in a row is a super record for her.
76 Days till my Due Date!
Not to mention 62 Days till Christmas.
69 Days till New Year.
73 Days till my Birthday!!

Ladies I just wanted to pop in and announce that we have finished breastfeeding. It has been almost 2 weeks with no booby. After stopping motilium a couple of months back, my supply dropped and slowly dwindled to not much at all. I offered her cows milk in a sippy cup almost 2 weeks ago and she has not looked back. Not once has she demanded to be breastfed. I did not have any engorgement issues what so ever....which was a huge indicator to me at just how low my supply had become. I was literally able to stop cold turkey.The transition has been so smooth, bub hasnt whinged once and I did not feel sad. It felt just right. The only downside is, she has gained a HUGE amount of weight in these two weeks....I am sure she has almost doubled lol. I feel like I deprived her for so long and she did not thrive as well as she could have. Mind you, I am glad I breastfed as long as I could, it was a challenge for me and I passed :) Thanks to all of you lovely ladies for your support, especially Mantaray, MadB and my sept baby buddies :)

Isadora-congratulations on your bfing journey. When dd weaned, I never even thought about the fact I had no engorgement either....wow.
My ds is 5 weeks old and we are breastfeeding and bottle feeding ebm as dh is the sahd. I bf my dd for 6/7 months until she weaned when I fell pregnant and then I expressed for another few months before my supply ran out and we switched to formula. My plan with ds is to feed until at least 12 months-I really want to do this.
Right now my milk seems to have settled and my boobs are starting to feel less full but Im pretty sure it's just that everything is settling down. I am expressing more than ds needs and he seems full and content after bf's and is feeding 3 hourly during the day. At night he feeds twice and then again around 6am but he goes to sleep on the boob easily so I don't think he is taking a full feed. I've only just started getting him to take both sides, I've always offered both but until this week he's only taken one side.
I really look forward to getting to know you all :)
My DD is 6 months today, which means we have been exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months!!! :dance: Nothing other than my breastmilk has passed her lips - I am so happy and feel very lucky that I have been able to do this for her. She has absolutely thrived on my breastmilk too - a massive 9.18kg at 6 months :o. Soon (when she's recovered from her cold) we will start on the fun, messy journey of BLW!

I weaned the baby, without really trying. I was only feeding him if he woke up at night time and for several nights in a row he didn't wake up. So, no more breastfeeding. I think it actually made the wait for surgery the other day easier not harder, I can't imagine having him climbing all over me smelling like milk for hours on end, he would have been driven nuts.
So that's 15.5 months for this baby, 14 for the last one and 9 for my first. That's a lot of my life taken up by breastfeeding.
He still climbs up on me and sticks his hand down my top when he's thirsty, he's been doing that for months and until he actually starts talking I don't think that habit is going to go away!
Well dd is 9 months old today so we have been feeding for 9 months. We're on a 2 bottles a day now though, but she is still having about 4-5 breastfeeds in 24hrs as well. I am honestly amazed that we have made it as far as we have. Quick question though ladies. DD can only fall asleep on the boob. Even if she wakes 10 minutes after a feed she has to have boob to resettle. She just can't settle without it. She will just scream and scream if I try rocking, patting or cuddling her. Is this something she will grow out of?? Because I am just a little worried on what's going to happen when I start to wean.
Mo2b - My DD used to always need the breast to get to sleep, but over time she began to come off and settle without it. Some days she will still fall asleep at the breast, but she doesn't need it now.
The No Cry Sleep Solutions has some ideas on slowly moving from boob only settling to other methods. If you are continuing to breastfeed though, i would stick with feeding to sleep if it works, cos rocking etc sucks compared to feeding to sleep.
The last few days in the morning after i feed DD, she has come off the breast and then given me a kiss on the cheek. It is so cute, kind of like a 'thanks, Mum'. Tonight, she had a feed, and then gave my chest a quick kiss when she was finished. It makes me wonder though if one day she will just kiss and no feed. I am 7 months pregnant now, and not really sure what is happening with my milk, i know there is still something there but not sure if it changing to colustrum yet.
Yay Isadora. I'm glad to hear the transition was easy for you both. Sometimes weight gains vary a lot at different times, so don't count yourself out :)

m2boys, well done to you too! They do get over it with time, though it seems hard to imagine right now. My DS was the same and yet by 12 months he wouldn't feed to sleep any more except when very, very tired during the day. Actually made life a lot harder :) DD is starting to go off it a bit now too. ohwell.
You must be busy busy busy stark - are you back at work already? It's great your kids still have a stay at home parent.

Mumof2boys- my dd actually dropped her night just before bed feed before she weaned. She was previously fed to sleep each night. I think they do it on their own when they are ready. That said my ds doesn't feed to sleep other than his overnight feeds and I've been putting him down awake just before bed because he's full and burped and tired.
Madb-yep, been back at work full-time for a few weeks now. Ds is 7 weeks old today. I'm self employed with great staff so have flexibility and am already in a great routine of ebm and I've been ducking home mid afternoon when ds wakes to feed or dh will bring him down for me. Ds doesn't wake and want feeding immediately like dd used to so it makes it easier for us.
Does everyone find they leak on the other side when feeding? I've forgotten how long it lasts? I think with dd it was quite a few months?
Hi ladies. Well, I think DD & I have finished after 22.5 months. This is wayyyy longer than I could have ever expected so I'm pretty pleased. The initial plan was to get to 24 months and see what happens from there, but being pregnant now, it seems I have little milk left and DD just plays and comes on and off. DS gave up when I was 3 months pregnant with DD too, so it seems that's my limit for feeding in pregnancy :) I'm glad for my boobies to be having a little break before #3 gets here in May. :)
