Barb, anyone? HELP! I can't take much more of the biting :(

DS was exactly the same and it is soooo painful. I actually got to the point (when he was 10 and a half months) that I decided I was going to wean him as I was dreading BF'ing. :crying:
We had tried everything that you have tried too. DS was still enjoying his morning feed (and so was I as there was no biting!) but every other feed resulted in me being bitten. I got so desperate I tried him on formula but he wouldn't take it. I spoke to my GP who said that as he was a good eater and had a very varied diet, was still having 1 BF a day and drinking lots of water that there was no need to worry about formula. That same day, DS started drinking his formula (read gulping!). He now has his morning BF, cows milk on his cereal, lunch, formula at afternoon tea and then dinner, always followed by yoghurt. He drinks lots of water too.
But..the best part is..he had been biting me for many weeks (starting around 9 months) before I decided I couldn't take it anymore and accepted we were going to stop BF'ing...he is now asking for BF's. The last couple of days he has been crawling up to me and patting my chest and pulling at my top until I BF him...and NO BITING!!
So I guess I just wanted to offer you hope that they can stop biting and you can continue your BF journey. Goodluck

:hug: I remember the dread of the next feed and the overnight feeds seem like a good short-term solution. 2 teeth in as many weeks sounds pretty rough on both of you. Try and sleep through the day occasionally when he does to catch up on that lost sleep.

I just thought I'd update. Well things went from bad to worse and bub just outright refused during the day. I kept trying to offer but he got me really badly once and I just decided to express during the day.

Well this afternoon, I thought I'd just offer and see how it went and guess what..... he had a feed with no biting :cheer: I'm so glad I persisted. I know he may start to bite me again tomorrow but hey it's a small step in the right direction.

:crossfingers: that the persistance will eventually pay off.

Spring, I am so happy to read your last post. I've tried to reply to you several times, as I've been through a couple of biting phases with my little one, but the pesky iPhone keeps playing up! I hope the 'no biting' continues for you :)

Hi gorgeous girls. Well I'm not going to jinx myself by saying the biting is over, it isn't but I can report that DS is now feeding during the day without biting. He has started the 'I'm finished nip' but I've learnt to anticipate it and break suction when he is finished and just mucking around. Boy this has been an epic struggle, at one stage I really didn't think I could go on. My poor boobies had just about as much as they could take. I'm so glad I've persisted. I hope if anyone else reads this in future who has a biting bub they feel a sense of hope.

So onwards and upwards. Next goal is 12 months and hopefully much longer after that.
