Sue, I'm so glad you got the right help from your friend. Not all LCs are created equal, but it sounds like your friend knew what she was talking about. Who knows, maybe one day you'll be able to pass on all of your wisdom to another Mum! You'd be surprised how many times a bfing friend can come in useful, more useful than a 'professional'. ;)
