Yep, I try to use the slow teats AMAP, though he has been quite annoyed with them yesterday and today. I have been pacing his bottle feeds too, which he doesn't like much either, but we have to try anything that works!
Yes, Nicholas likes to feed and then snack on his preferred side too - like you guys, particularly when I feed him in bed and am fast asleep LOL!
I bet the tots bots looks really cute! We're still on nappy service here, which I luuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrve, but I am looking forward to the day he can wear some cute nappies!
-
They do look really cute - I had him in a terry flat with boosters and a BBH wool cover the other night. DH laughed that he was a turtle stuck on his back with his legs stuck up in the air from all the padding :cryinglaugh: I still haven't ventured too far into the purchasing of more nappies until he reaches 5kg and has a little more padding.
I think Oscar has taken a leaf out of Nicholas' book today. He has fussed and fussed at the last 2 feeds but had one when he was half asleep just fine  I do love the feeding in my sleep though. Now he can attach himself without injuring my nipples I am sooooooo happy to let him feed and then snack if I happen to fall asleep. The extra sleep is so nice :D
-
Mmmmm, I love feeding in my sleep too, it's fab! It's a shame Nicholas doesn't feel the same way these last few days :( I only discovered doing it about six weeks ago too. Hopefully he's just going through a fussy stage. I always amazes me how totally and utterly empty his favourite breast is after he's sucked on it for and hour or more LOL!
My little man looks a bit like a turtle at times too LOL. I love using cloth though, it works sooo well.
-
Well here's a funny story, scary at the same time though!
I woke up last night at 4am to find Nicholas lying on his back beside me in the bed! Now obviously I put him there, but I don't remember doing it. He had definietly had a feed because my top was open, my left breast was empty, and the right had leaked everywhere LOL. I have some recollection of looking at the time at about 2am, but I don't really remember. I'm so paranoid about feeding him before he wakes up properly ATM, I guess I didn't wake up properly myself :cryinglaugh: At least we had a feed in bed without a fuss.
And today has been a good day (hope I don't jinx myself!). He even did two poos, one of them quite runny YAY! Who knew you could get so excited about poo?! And he fed off one side in public for five minutes, which is huge ATM. I just have to remind myself on the bad days that it CAN get better.
Danni, how are things going with Mason? Is he gaining well?
-
Hey girls :)
Sezjm - sounds like things are going well for little Nicholas :) and Yay for the feeding for a whole 5 minutes in public!!!!
Michelle - I too find that feeding Griffen in bed at night is a must atm :),, Too cold to take him out into the loungechair,, and sit there freezing whilst trying to keep him warm,,,, So much nicer to just duck bck into my warm spot in bed,, snuggle him in close, and let him nuzzle in for a nice long feed :). Griffen will have both sides in bed, before dropping off, and quickly going back to sleep snuggled in close :). Besides,, I have a shocking flu, and am quite unsteady on my feet,, so any excuse to feed laying down where i can just close my own eyes and rest while he feds,, the better hehe.
Well,, Last weighin i got,, griffen had put on a whole whopping 200grams a week,, for 2 weeks straight!!!! That was on 60mg of motilium a day, 2 hourly feedings, and also giving him about 100mls of formula in the mornings used to make up his farex banana custard everyday,,, but for him,,, that was MASSIVE!!! so happy,,,,, he has now actually started to get a little "conditioning" on him,,,, which is fab :). Now it is a matter of just taking the tabs down gradually until i get to a level which is the least i can take but still get good results.
To top it all off,,, he has also become alot more active,, and is wanting to roll over,, which before, he was always more lethargic,, and had no interest in rolling, trying to sit up or anything like that,, So I think he now has tonnes more energy too,, so proud,, and soo grateful that that a drug like motilium exists.

That's fabulous Lil Aussie!!! Good growing.
Sez - what were you doing up at that hour????? I did the same last night. I *think* I put Oscar into be for a feed at 3am ish and woke up at 6am!! To top it off, I just rolled over and we fed on the other side and snoozed until 9am :cryinglaugh: It is disturbing when you don't remember what time you fed or how you got there.
Danni ...... where are you??? How's the boy??
Kellie - how are you doing??
-
Lil Aussie, that's great news! It's wonderful that Griffen has become more active too, I've noticed that with Nicholas. I too am so grateful for Motilium, I don't know where we'd be without it!
Michelle, it is quite disconcerting isn't it, I'm so used to keeping track of what's going on, it sort of freaks me out when I'm not up to speed LOL. Glad you had a nice snooze in :)
Kellie, how's Lily going?
I tell you what, these little monkeys keep you guessing don't they? I'm so used to having to wake Nicky up for a feed, and I always change his nappy first, even if it doesn't really need it. We had a really nice little routine worked out, but I have realised that babies change all the time, and I can't get too comfortable! Now I need to feed him while he's still sleepy, or he just fusses. Seems to be working this week anyway ;) Who knows what next week will bring LOL.
-
sorry sorry sorry im here!
Mason has never had a problem with weight gain so we are lucky in that respect. I am now taking 3 or 4 motiillium tabs a day to try and increase my supply so I can express some to replace what we have used from the freezer.
But atm mason isnt sleeping at night like he used to, and he is feeding every 90 mins so he is taking all that extra milk :(
glad to hear everyone is going well!
-
Hi girls, thankyou for thinking of us!
Well we are going along pretty well. Most days we have been having about 500-600mls of formula. So about half of her feeds are of formula. But there are usually about two or three days where my supply seems to be alot more, or she drinks alot less and we only do about 300mls of formula or so, I don't know why, I wish I could figure out what it was so I could do it every day!! I am taking 30mg of motilium a day and dong the oats and aktivite. I am sooo SICK of oats and aktivite for breaky! Some days I have it for lunch just so I can have toast for a change!
Sezjm LOL about putting Nicky in bada nd not realising! I always feed Lil on the lounge, it's just become such a habbit now that I don't even think to put her into bed with me, though she has a bottle during the night not a bf, so it is actually easier for me to feed her on the lounge.
Uh, oh gotta go my princess calls...:)
-
I hear you Kellie! Sometimes I have porridge for lunch too, just so I can have something different for brekky LOL.
You know, you might not actually be doing anything different when she has less formula. Maybe it's just what your supply, and Lily, would be doing anyway IYKWIM? So don't do your head in over it hun!
*sending lots of BM vibes to everyone*

Thought I should I give an update, especially as it's a positive one!
We weighed Nicholas last week and he'd gained 1.2 kgs in a month! He is turning into a real little porker! And we saw a paed today who thinks that he is getting too much milk, he's sure my supply must have increased! I don't like to get excited about it, but it certainly explains things. So we're going to try cutting back his formula just a little to see how he goes.
So we're cruising along here without too much stress ATM......5 months next week! May it continue on! I hope everyone else is doing well :)
-
Excellent work Sez!!! We gained 350g in under 2 weeks after having a feeding frenzy / growth spurt for the past 5 days. Today has been better but 2 days ago was hell and I was at the end of my sanity :( Last night my poor (not so) little boobies were hot and heavy again as my milk supply upped to meet the little mans demands and the volume today seems to be choking him so that is a positive - not the choking, the supply :D
I'm still on 40mg motilium and will look at decreasing again when I know this episode has settled and he is back to sleeping longer than 2 hours at a time. And my nipples aren't too bad either and he is having minimal FF (often refusing them - and he spat it out at DH yesterday :D) so all is good!!!
-
Great work Michelle and Oscar! You're doing a great job hun......I know how it feels to be at the end of one's sanity, I was there two days ago also! Isn't it good to be back in a good head space again?! (Although I'm still trying to catch up on sleep :p)
-
Sleep???? What's that????? I saw your post and felt your pain!! Different reason but the pain is the same. My head space got restored when Oscar slept for about 3 hours in a row last night. It doesn't sound like much but when you were being woken every 2 hours (or less in the evening) it all helps. I was pleased to se Nicky had a better day today too. Big hugs
-
Wow girls congratulations!! :D You're both doing so well!! I'm so glad your little boys are growing so well.
As for us, I think my supply has decreased. Lily is getting very frustated on the breast and pulls and tugs at my nipples. She's gotten to the stage now where she wants to watch tv while she feeds and she can't when she has a bf. (This is the only time I watch tv during the day- it sounds like it's all I do all day, hehehe!!) With the bottle I won't follow her when she turns to watch tv, but I think cause she gets more milk for little effort, she's happy with that. WHen she bf's she gets little milk for lots of effort AND can't see the tv so she's not a happy camper! I don't really know what to do. I think my supply is diminishing again and she's taking alot more formula. My bbs arent overflowing kind of full in the morning anymore. She only suckles for maybe 3 or so mins so she's not sucking enough to help increase the supply. If I insist that she sucks she just gets cranky and ends up screaming. There's no feeds in the day where she's content with my milk only anymore either. I'm nearly out of motilium and I'm tempted to just say 5 months is enough. :(
-
yay girls!!!!
I have been meaning to post in here since last week and keep forgetting...
My normal GP is away so I had to see another doctor who got me a script for a box of 100. yes 100!!!
It was only $16!!
She also told me she breastfed twins and took motillium too, and said that to make any "real" difference we should be taking 2 tablets 3 times a day. So 6 tablets in a day.
I took her advice and I have a huge difference! Why didnt they tell me this before?
-
Kellie, I'm so sorry you feel things aren't working well for you and Lily ATM. I totally hear you on the telly thing.......I've taken to NOT watching it when we're feeding cos he's turned into such a little telly head, and won't feed properly, it's a nightmare! A bottle takes so long, cos he stuffs around trying to see the screen. So, boring as it is, no more telly here during feeds! I sit and kiss him instead :D Do you think she's going through a growth spurt, or has the pulling been going on longer than that? Can you up your dose for a few days to see if that helps? Hun, I so know the feeling of being at your wits end with this, you've done a FABULOUS job to get to 5 months, you're such a good mummy to your girl, she's so lucky to have you! If you feel that the time has come, then it will only be the right decision for you and Lily. It's very hard when they don't seem to be enjoying the feeds anymore. Big, big  hun.
Danni, I should have told you before! I always get a box of 100 which costs anywhere from $15-$23, depending on which pharmacy I get it from. And I take 90mg a day, that's three tablets three times a day! My LC actually told me to take 120mg, but I feel better on the 90mg......and that also means that if one of us gets sick etc, I've got some room to increase my dose for awhile. I'm so glad you've noticed a difference, it's a good feeling hey?
I knew I shoulnd't get excited, I really don't think my supply has increased that much. But regardless, Nicholas is 5 months next week, and there have certainly been times I didn't think we'd get this far. Not long until we hit our target, gosh I hope we can get there!
-
Sezjm, thanks for your kind words. It's so hard to know what to do. I have tried turning the tv off but then she just watches the blank screen (!!??) I have run out of tablets today and I will see what happens. I'm still unsure of what to do. She might be having a growth spurt she does seem to be taking more formula, but then I think she's also taking less breast milk. When she does feed I love it and she seems to like it too still for about 3mins than that's it, but it's just that she will fluff about so much and I don't know how much of a benefit she's getting from it against the sress and worry I have about it all, IYKWIM? I just don't want to pike out on her.
And yes you should be excited and proud of yourself for getting as far as you have too. It isn't an easy road and would be so much easier to give up. I'm am sure you will make your goal.
Danni, I get 100 too at about $17 a pop (can't remember exactly). I'm glad things are going so well for you and Mason too. And it's great that the other dr was so supportive. My dr isn't very supportive and asks me when I'm going to give up every time I go in for a new script :( .
