rent - $150 week
Buying. Weekly minimum repayments are about $450. 3 bedroom home in nice outer suburb with 2 living areas and regular sized backyard.
Mortgage - $260 per week.
Renting $360p/wk for a 3 bedroom house in Sydney suburbs.
Good sized yard but old kitchen and bathroom. They could get heaps more for it but we have been here for 4 years and look after it so well. We have never actually had a formal inspection as the owners property manage it but they have seen how we keep the place when they have ben round to fix things.
Both at the moment unfortunately.
We are building so we have an interest only loan on the property we are building and we also pay $410 per week in rent! Our new home will be worth about $800k when we are finished, but our final loan will be just less than half of that. Why are Sydney prices so expensive?
Cant wait to move into my brand new home though, LOL.
We rent. Currently $240 a week but we're about to move and can't find anything decent for under $260 a week. I remember when we first went into the rental market 5.5 years ago the average (low end) rent was $150 and we rented a place for $165 a week. Now 5.5 years later all I've seen for that sort of price is 1 room in a share house!
When I was with XP we paid $320 a week rent for an old 3 bedroom house in an average suburb. Very close to beach though.
Now I rent with a 'friend' and we pay $280 a week for a renovated 3 bedroom flat in possibly the worst suburb in Perth, and is almost in te hills (25 min drive to CBD which is far for Perth).
In 2 weeks I'm moving in with my parents gonna be paying $200 a week but it's going off the 7k I owe my dad so effectively I'll be getting rent food and bills free whilst paying off my loan :)
We currently rent in a sharehouse in yarraville, $150 p/w so nice and cheap, but it IS a sharehouse and not that nice lol :rolleyes: We'll be moving in the coming months, staying in the same area because it's lovely, looking at two bedroom flats or townhouses for $250 p/w.
Renting. $360 p/w. A mortgage would mean I would have to work.. and it's important to us that I stay home with the kidlets :)
Oh man... I remember when DH & I first moved out, we lived in a couple of houses before we found one we loved. We stayed there for 6 years paying $160/pw for a 3brm with ensuite, huge yard, great area, probably 3-400m from the beach. When we moved out we couldn't believe how rental prices had rocketed! and it's gotten worse & worse since :(:
we own two homes - one negatively geared (so the value of income to outlay isn't easy maths) and the other we pay the bank about $1430/mth then all the extras as MD said earlier (would pay about $380/wk to rent similar)
we currently live in a different town for work and thankfully rent is paid here (and thus our other house sits empty) because its $1500/wk - yes that is correct... per week (and it is in reality a nice 4 bed 2 bath - the standard new four bed two bath are about $1100/wk and the 60s/70s weatherboard 3 bed well used houses are about $800/wk) the issue here is high demand
When DD1 was little we rented a house, similar, with a pool & gym, for $175. We thought that was a high price to pay at the time!!!:

we rent $150 a week for a 2 bedroom but we don't actually pay our rent DP works an extra day of the week to cover our rent & electricity :-) but it is pricey we rented in QLD just over 2yrs ago a 3 bedroom for $200 a week and it wasnt a very safe house highset house and it wobbled when u walked up stairs quite scary!!
We have a mortgage paying $560 a week, just out of the suburbs on a bit of a yard and an average size 3 bedroom house. Plus a really good veiw of the mountains ;)
