That is how I feel and will feel I think!!! I love summer and the whole holiday atmosphere!!!! Can't wait to be there now - SQUEEEEEEE!!! SOoooooooooOOOOoooo excited, just want to have been there yesterday!!! This time next year we will be locals not just tourists visiting! Yay yay yay!! Can you tell I am excited ;) Off to try and sleep with visions of the ocean in my head! :):

i have done a couple of tourist towns.
lived in airlie beach (whitsundays ) for 2 years now this is a prodominately tourism run town. which made jobs quite mandane unless you liked hospitality, but we loved the tourists
always met somewhere from a new place at the pubo n the weekdn with a new story.
there were local rates so we didnt have to pay as much as those visiting etc but it was wonderful!
always kept pristine by council !
now in coffs harbour which again has its influx from southerns and westies for the holidays etc. we are in the surbs here so easily stay out of the touristy side.
althought i do come in contact with them all the time at work.
but i found it fun and exciting x

One thing we notice about living in a tourist area, is that nothing is done till just before summer. All of a sudden the road crews are out fixing the roads. The gardeners are out planting pretty flowers in the roundabouts.
I lived on & off in a small tourist town for 10 years. I enjoyed it. The only thing that annoyed me was that because it was a small town, alot of the holiday makers knew we needed them to survive, & walked around acting like they were all that. & being a renter its really hard coz so many houses sit empty waiting for holidays to roll around...
We always had to be careful with the kids (older ones walking home etc), coz you never knew who was around & the roads were always 10 times more dangerous in tourist season.
But there are always new people to meet, lots of kids around at the parks etc. It was more a family holiday destination. I miss it...

Very true, some of the locals are bad enough and there are some tricky intersections around here. I just know if I see a Wicked Camper or similar near one of those intersections to just back off.:
Definitely something for us to be aware of, having said that we were down there in peak season and it was pretty good!! Also hoping to be walking distance of town/beach/schools so that will be handy!:

Liviam - Me too hun, just oh so excited and cannot wait to just whip this house into shape and sell it for a decent price!
We're in a beachside tourist town - I just try and stay out of the main shopping area during the really busy times (or on wet days because it goes crazy then).
DH grew up here and he always comments about 'holiday sizes' (ie the bakery does smaller eclairs for the same price in the holidays). The beach and swimming areas get really busy, but that's only compared to non holiday times - compared to swimming at Bondi or something it's still deserted (ie Monday night, 33 degrees at 7pm and there were 4 people walking along the beach which is about 1km long with maybe 8 in the water).
We're also lucky in that we live next to other permanent residents so don't have to deal with holiday houses and parties / schoolies late at night.
Driving to our tourist town on Saturday to have a look at a few houses! Muchos excitimicated! :dance:
