I dont know which way I should go.

A wonderful BB member PMed me the info booklet that medicos are supposed to make their recommendations based on. This booklet says that the only time a CS should be done with DSP is if the pain free gap when I open my legs is too small to allow a head to fit, which it is. I had a physio appointment today and she agreed with me.

We have made our decision now, For a CS, and I really couldnt be happier now. If I had gone into it without having done the research then I probably would have had the 'what if?'s' but having done the research I am actually quite excited!! I know that this is one of the circumstances where a CS is a medical necessity, and as such I will not be calling it elective, rather medically necessary, but I am at peace with the decision.

i just saw your newest post - i can hear the relief in your voice, and can understand why that brochure helped you make the decision, makes sense to me too.

One less thing to stress about heh? I'm glad you have a solution now, and one that won't give you the lingering "what if" thoughts.

not all CS take a full 6 weeks to recover from. I was driving with Dr permission at 3 weeks post-op

I just wanted to add also ... I agree. Not all CS take that long to recover. In fact, I was amazed that I recoverd so darn quickly. I was driving on day 4 :redface: ... without my dr's appoval :redface:

Personally ... if I were you ... I'll go for the planned c/s, for almost all reasons Peg mentioned. That and you will be more relaxed and can prepare yourself for it :)

Its much easier to go into something knowing what to expect.

Also , keeping yourself fit and your tummy toned helps with recovery.

To add to the mess, the OB is still very much wanting me to try for a VB, but I simply cannot move my legs far enough apart. He didn't even see me at my last appointment, sent a junior ob who had never seen DSP before and made his assement on whether it would be possible without seeing me :rolleyes:. I am seeing a MW on Wednesday so hopefully she will be able to go in to him and say that there is no way on earth that I can VB this time and he needs to schedule a CS. If she can't then the physio I am seeing on Friday can. This OB has a history of not listening to his patients though :rolleyes:

Ali, I have been saying it for days but I have no qualms in saying it again. I am sick to death about heating what the doctors want. Isnt it about time they listened to what their patients want? My poor BIL has been blind in one eye since he was attacked by a flock of seagulls when he was 5. The eye is currently infected and causing no end of pain with the pressure. A hard knock could cause it to rupture. But the Dr gave him drops. The Dr wants it there in case they have some miracle medical breakthrough and can change the eye. The Dr wants him to try the drops for 2 months - the same drops that stopped working years ago - thus he has to wait 2 more months before the pain he is in is taken seriously.

Not once though, did the Dr ask my BIL what HE wanted.

I understand trying to keep the optic nerve attached to the damaged eye just in case. It could be the difference to having full sight one day.... but the way they go on about how thats what they (the drs) want just make it sound like they want my BIL to be available to be a guinea pig to test it on.

This is everything that is wrong with the health system today. They stopped listening.

He sounds like a jerk, and I would be SO po'ed at being diagnosed in absentia. Get as many people on your side as you can.
