D ickie Seat in a commodore wagon anyone?

I recently purchased a ****ie seat off ebay to fit into our commodore wagon. Anyone else have one fitted in their car? Where can I go to get it fitted? Im in Croydon Victoria. Did you find it useful or a PITA?
Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

I have one in my VZ, but it was factory fitted. You need an engineer to fit them & it changes alll the weight & seating things on you rego papers, so you need that sorted as well.

oh and my parents used to have one in their wagon and I was ALWAYS the one to go in it. Ifelt so rejected being thrown into the boot all the time.

Tali, my kids fight over it! They love sitting in the boot. Mine is folded up against the back seat unless we need it, coz the fights are rediculus!

I had ours installed at a mechanic that was also a vic roads licensed child restraints installer. They have closed business now but perhaps if you contact vic roads you may find some info about where to go.

Don't think that I'm bagging them now but I had to add that we recently traded it (Friday just gone) because after a few years we hated it for several reasons, but mostly for car sickness (I've had to drag a vomiting child out by the scruff a few times) and no access to fresh air back there. Also we were sick of the boys trampelling mud on the seats or having to climb over crap in the back...and don't get me started on the lack of boot space as a result

But it got us out of a bind when we found ourselves expecting a 4th baby and funds were too tight to do anything else.

Hi... we'll be getting some for our Commodore in the event of number 4..... after doing resarch and chatting to people it seems like the better option for us, our plan would be to use the long seat (from the 2nd row) leaving the smaller seat for access and have the two older kids in a double ****ie seat in the back.. the holden web site have quite a few people talking about them with some great ideas and pointers. some people have even said they found there was more room than in their friends 4wd's 3 row, (apart from height) i dont know if this is the actual case but i know my boot is larger than my sisters 4wd's... you can even get a netting thing installed so you can pack groseries behind the 3rd row without them falling all over you when you open the boot. i'm also told the gate that usually sits behind the 2nd row can be altered to sit behind the 3rd, but i have no idea who would do that sort of work,
I'm in NSW and know of a place in Asquith who install, but i'm sure if you google ****ie seats you'll find someone there if not contact holden they will know all about them...
can i ask did your seats come with anchor points? i know you can get them installed but have been wondering if they go in the car or on the seat as it is with the 2nd row...

We use our seats the way Krist mentioned. The 3rd row seats are suitable for kids ranging from 4 - 12 years. I think if your kids are in that age range that car seats aren't necessary, but not 100% DD2 is 6 & with her half seat booster is too tall. So not sure that anchor points can be fitted. You can fit them to the floor at the back though if needed.

We have DD3, 2nd row middle, DS 2nd row passenger & the second row drivers side seat is folded down. The older kids sit in the back.

For long trips there isn't much room. & if the back seats are down there's not much room for a pram. I kept my tandem pram on its side in there.
But I only need the extra room for long trips. Any time I need boot space, the older kids are at school, so the 3rd row is folded up. Mine sit up against the back seats, not on the floor, so all the boot space is still there.

The seat I bought is a single and has an anchor point in it which is good cause I don't think I'll put DS in a carseat/booster but will use a H harness.
We will only need to use it if DH comes in the car with us, otherwise DD1 will sit in the front and the 3 little kids can sit in the 2nd row - unless DS really wants to sit in the third row!
I rang a few places today and no one fits them.... One guy did but does it as a 'backyard' type thing, he charges $300 but doesn't supply a certificate or anything. If I get it don't 'properly' by an engineer ive heard it will cost around $1000!!! I know it's still cheaper than buying a new car but sheesh.
I've emailed Vic roads and just waiting for them to get back to me with the legal jargon and other fitting stations for Vic.

Yeah, with the engineers certificate, thats what you're looking at. We bought a new car with the seat already in
DH legally wouldn't be able to sit in the d icky seat. They have height limits

Hehe, thanks clover. I meant if Dh comes in the car with us then he would sit in the front and DS can sit in the ****ie seat lol! Although if Dh is annoying me too much I might banish him to the boot lol.

Just tie him to the roof racks saves trouble!
