Deisel drivers or people with knowledge of deisel things.....

OK, so i am supposed to drive DH's ute today, its deisel. I have driven it all of once before. So i load the kids in, and i go to start it...

It wont start. It sounds like the battery so i keep trying. Its on a little bit of a hill and its manual so i think ok i will try to roll start it, no luck.

Then i remember that i am supposed to have turned the reds on til some light goes out. So i try that and its really struggling to turn over and its starting to do the clicky thing that happens when its the battery...

Sooo my question.. was it already stuffed or did i stuff it by not remembering to wait til the light went out and my continuous trying to turn it over has done something?????

I really have to get to town to get formula for DD (i live 20ks out of town, no pram, walking is NOT an option with two LO's!!!) If i leave the ute for a while and try again do you think it might work?????

Any ideas?? Dh is out of range so he is no help!!! And i have just moved to this town and i know no one to call who isnt a good 2 or so hours drive away!!!!

My mums deisel has a button thing you need to press or pull out (can't remember) before turning the ignition and yes she has to wait on reds till a light goes out. If she does not then the car wont start. I think it has something to do with heating something but I don't really know. We have a deisel Hilux but we don't need to do anything before turning the key.

Re reading my answer I guess I am not really helping you. Sorry.

lol thats ok, i think it was stuffed already coz once i did wait for the light thingy it still wouldnt go. I have gone back and tried and it def sounds like the battery. Its doing the clicky thing that a car makes when they battery is dying!

    Thanks anyway :-)

Well it can join my car. DH has gone away so I have been driving his car (work car so don't pay for fuel) and silly me forgot to start my car every few days and now it is dead as a door knob
