With the back seats down in the kluger there is HEAPS of room for shopping, i have my pram in and still have half the boot for shopping and more room to stack UP IYKWIM, when the seats are up though your lucky to fit a stroller in the back :p

X-trail here too! The boot space is just huge.........seriously massive. It can fit out bugaboo pram in 2 pieces plus baby bags and a weeks worth of groceries without it being squeezy at all. I can not tell you how much I love this car. We are onto X-trail number 2 we love them so much.

ETA: Just to expand.. lol I realise a V70 isn't an SUV..BUT - I have 7 seats, can fit 3 baby carseats across the back, have a built in booster, can fold the rear seats in the boot completly flat and into the floor, has a massive boot... and I don't have to worry about getting around city streets or small carparks ;)
We just bought an 04 Patrol for $20,000 :) I am soooooooooooooo in love with it!!! It's a 7 seater also but the 2 in the back fold up

Most the 7 seaters do not have anchor points for the 3rd row, the Territory does, but we dont use it. We have the 3rd row down so we have the massive boot. I can fit a double pram, lots of shopping and still have 1/2 the boot space left. In NSW RTA and the car fitting place (pearces) advised me im not allowed to have a booster in the 3rd row even though I have anchor points. Same when all seats are up you can just fit a stroller in but no shopping much.
Just thinking about what families at work have.....Ford Escape, Toyota Kluger, Rav 4 seem to be fairly common.
I would say a mazda tribute - thats what we are looking at :)
I test drove a Mazda Tribute last year & wasn't a fan. However, it was owned by a single male surfer and I *think* he may have thrashed it. So might need to give another one a go.

Talking with the gorgeous Tanstar tonight & realised another issue we face is DH. He's 6ft 2. Currently in our wagon he has the seat all the way back & there's enough leg room (just) if there are adults in the back but from looking at some XTrails tonight with DH I think we really do need a larger car. We have put Saturday morning aside to go & look locally but Sunday I want to head to Melb! Have found 2 Territories! From the research I have done today they are no heavier on fuel than our car right now.
My hubby is 6 3 and he has head room in the xtrail. its why we got it opposed to a Rav
What about leg room though? I worry that with the rearward facing seat that he won't be able to push his seat right back. (He's a sook like that ;) )
Hubby is 6ft andhe is fine in the passenger seat with capsule behind it in theTerritory. We couldnt fit 3 carseatsin a row with the Rav4 so we gave that one a miss same as the Honda CRV (iloved it though :()

That's why I want a Territory Belle!! DH looked at some XTrails last night & saved some to possibly look at on the weekend. After he went to bed I checked them out and saw that there was very little leg room in the back for the kids/capsule etc. We drove one around Tassie & it was great and had heaps of space BUT there was only 2 of us then :)
I did some more research on the Territorys and found that you get about 500km out of a tank with local driving. Would you agree Belle? Would love to know what you have found. Our current car has a tank about 5lt smaller than the Territory & we get roughly 450-500km per tank. So they are pretty much the same in fuel from what I have seen. We usually are driving around locally with short trips etc with maybe 10 trips a year on a highway.
My hubby sits quite close for a tall man so he was fine but take the capsule with u to try it

We're going to have a look at a few cars locally in the morning. So I said to DH we will drop the kids off at MILs and undo the seats so we can put them in and out of the cars.
My DH likes to sit as far back as possible :rolleyes: He'd sit in the boot if he could I reckon!
Mine's an 04 Territory and we get 500kms for day to day driving. Costs us around $90 to fill. It does love highway driving - we made it all the way to Mildura on one tank (over 700kms for us), but you lose a lot if you need to tow. I did a trip to Central Vic - on my way up there, I used 50kms worth of fuel. On my way home, I was towing our camper and it drank 200kms worth of fuel.:

We bought a Territory today!! I am still in shock I think but SOOOOOOOO excited!
It's an '05 model and we pick it up Tuesday!! I can't wait to get rid of my old c**pper!!!!!
