Wait maybe I get the payment and not the allowance. Forget which is which now LOL. I had to fill in a 16 page form though, and the doctor had his own to fill in. I got re-sent the doctors form basically telling me to do it myself, not sure if the GP missed anything or not. I got payment a week after re-doing the doctors form.
I don't pay for any speech therapy, we go public and are seen once a fortnight. Although it does cost me when it comes to food shopping for the intolerances ;)

So what does that mean? The therapy we do at home? Taking her for appointments? Having to pretty much speak for her alot (though I try not to)? Is that enough or is it more than that?

I didn't have to "prove" anything, just filled in the documents and sent them in.
From memory you do not have to prove so much for the carers allowence, you (or your doctor) have to list your childs medical issues which may need to add up to a certain amount of hours or extra care beyond a 'healthy' child.
The carers payment (which is alot more money) requires the above as well as your child to have so many ticks in so many boxes (although I think these boxes have now been removed since the changes were made) and you need to prove you spend at least so many hours above and beyond the care of a 'healthy' child.
Once again, no harm filling in the form, my neonate pead did it all for me so I didn't have to fill out a thing, although I did read through the form many times, I hope your doctor is able to do the same. Good luck.
Yep, the one that is around $600 a fortnight is a BIG form, and the last time I did it, you had to tick all the problems with your child.... only a few were relevent to Kane at the time..... even trips to Sydney, every 6 weeks at the time, didn't qualify me...
The $100 per fortnight one is supposed to be easier to get, but I didn't get that either time we applied....
I was told I couldn't do FDC with Kane because he takes too much time and care, but was also told he doesn't take up enough time to warrant any payments.... :doh:
But if the boxes are gone, and is more relevent to Kane now.. ie, hearing and speech, I will try again!!!
I have had a little look Jodie and it does seem a bit easier but I haven't been able to apply for others reasons up until now so I may have another look.
Doesn't it annoy you, no-one else can care for my DD, she is fed through a NG tube FFS as well as severe sleep apnea, hearing aid therefore speech problems) even though she is still young) and everything else, yeah I can see a child care centre doing that! (not that I want her in care anyway but that is not the point, I do not have the option.)
