 Should have checked the date at the top of the thread.
I'm glad that it worked out for you as far as him working two weeks. Sucks about the car though - I read your other thread about the dodgy mechanic. Grr to him!

the ftb advance equates to 26is dollars paid back each fortnight, between date of grant and either 30 jun for first half of year or dec 31 for second half. everyone who qualifies for ftba at atleast base rate may qualify (provided no overpayments)
the other advance (income support) is a maximum of $500 for allowees (parenting/newstart/youth/students), minimum of 250, can be paid in 2 installments (if you choose) and is paid back over 13 fortnights. can only get this once per year. if your payment is reduced due to income or assets, your maximum amount will be less. if your advance amount isn't at least 250, you will be refused an advance
for pensioners (aged, disabilty, carers - NOT parenting single), the maximum amount varies and equates to about 3 weeks worth of entitlement. at the moment, for partenered peeps it's about 775 (paid back at 59.60 a fn for 13 fn's), for single about 1025 (give or take - paid back at 77-78ish per fn). there is much more flexibility with this advance and this amount can be advanced every six months (providing the person qualifies of course).
glad to hear your OH got work JM - hope you can find a resolution to the car dramas soon
