Glenny How is your gorgeous fighter boy going??
Charlie is doing well. He had the cannula taken out of his head yesterday and has his sutures removed as well. He has moved from continuous feeds to bolus feeds and is tolerating them well. Today he will move from being fed two hourly to three hourly and we'll see. It's all about stretching the stomach and seeing if he can tolerate full feeds at the moment. He hasn't had a full tummy for seven weeks! If today goes well we will try him on the boob tomorrow!!!!!!!!
The only slight hitch at the moment is the pneumothorax. Every time they clamp the chest drain in the hopes of removing it, the pocket reaccumulates. The surgeons are stumped. They are concerned there may be an air leak somewhere. Either damage to the airway from being intubated for so long or an accidental nick in the lungs or airway from surgery. Obviously we're hoping it's none of those but for now we're waiting.
Charlie isn't bothered though. He is spending lots of time awake now. Smiling and squirming!! ::):
Thanks for the update Glenny. Glad your little man is improving. Keep going strong little Charlie xoxo.
