How you're decorating it sounds great! Try not to worry that it cracked, mud cake does it at the best of times (well, I'm no expert but I always have cracked mud cakes!). The fondant will cover it and it will look sensational. Well done :)
The last one tasted awesome anyway!!! I bet it will turn out great, chicky. I want to see pics!
Thx ladies, hopefully it looks ok, think it will taste ok. It smelt great!

Don't forget too, you are your own worst critic. I can see every mistake I've made on a cross stitch, or the lump in the fondant on a cake, but nobody else can.
Thx Hun, hoping the cracks don't show through in the fondant.

i've never used fondant but could you do a layer of icing under the fondant? or is that what you do with fondant anyway?
anyways, the important thing here is that now i really NEED cake
I've seen a couple of things that will stick fondant on - egg whites on the cake will help stick the fondant down. The cake I made yesterday I was supposed to have a cream cheese frosting on it but I didn't have enough so I put a thin layer of cream cheese over the top of the cake and then put the fondant on. Was a bit worried about that one, but we got a nice subtle cream cheese taste. Doing a layer of icing the same colour of the fondant would smooth it out and hide the cracks - especially if they're wide cracks (but whether it's the "right" think to do as far as a cakemaker goes remains to be known! LOL). I'd go for it, but then in my kitchen, anything goes!
I'm going to do buttercream icing under the fondant and then also use buttercream to hold the figurines in place aswell as a sticky base for my sprinkle river and flake dirt track ;)
Eeeeeeekkkkk
Think it looks ok, not perfect but ok, pics on camera so will prob upload Saturday or something.
