umm gosh i have no idea what else to say, went out for tea tonight with my folks and mj and she was a angel as usual... the older two are their dads, so nice to have a break.

hope all the pg ladies are travelling well and everyone elses bubbs are behaving.

Just did an order at Weeuns... ;) Now I'm waiting on 3 fluffy mail parcels! Yay!

Ordered a wetbag, mattress protector, swaddlebees MCN, cloth wipes solution thingy and some more prefolds... Anyone have any more suggestions on what to use on cloth wipes?

I'd also like the sale PM please... can't resist a bargain!

Pink Palace - were you asking about trifold + cover for a newborn, as in does it hold the nb poo? i can answer that, cos that's what i used mainly with our new bilby (when she was new - aw).

i pad folded a baby beehinds bamboo foldup (30 x 30cm) and put that inside a nb sized cover (e.g bambino mio PUL cover with leg gussets). I laid a microfleece liner on top of the foldup. No snappi needed to shut the trifold, cos the cover was snug. I think you need a snappi if the cover isn't snug. ANyway, the prefold + cover routine worked great with our mega pooping bilby - who pooped VERY often!! in all directions, very comprehensively!!! But it was all contained in the cover (leg gussets rock!!) so i was happy. Nothing the little squirt coudln't handle haha.

Did your dh read the Little Squirt instructions?

if you press the trigger handle ALL the way, yes you will squirt the walls. The instructions say to HALF depress the handle, so you get a much gentler spray. You need to have the item well down in the toilet bowl too. I do the items one by one, rest them first on the upturned nappy bucket lid.

Tell your dh, if he tried to drive his car without using the key, of course it wouldn't work. If he tries to use MCN on your bub, without really understanding how they work, of course he's going to have "issues" with them and they will not work.

You now have lots of answers to your pocket stuffing question over on NC, so i won't double up on that.

AJP, swaddlebees will ship to Aus, but not Blueberry. I cannot get the site to even load for me!!! Just when dh said we will need larges for childcare (pre-empting bilby growing out of the mediums). ARGH!

PinkPalace - about the car - i have a daggy old nappy bag i got at an opshop, i leave a packet of wipes, two spare waterproof nappies in there, a changemat - and leave the bag under the passenger seat for emergencies - like the rare time we go thru all the nappies in the nappy bag and are still not home yet. only happened to us once, but it's good to have it there for peace of mind.

WOTBB: kester kovers aio in medium long (for my short bub!!) but she sure does need it for the rise. I think she will outgrow the rise before she outgrows the snaps, we're still on the smallest snaps setting when she's over the lower weight range.

We had a shocking day here yesterday. I'll copy & paste from my baby thread.

Maddi broke her glass bottle today & swallowed a piece of glass, yes you read that right SWALLOWED a piece a of glass about 1cm by 6mm.
Took her to Casey hospital, who then sent us to the Royal Children's.
Thankfully it's passing through her system fine, but if she hasn't done a poo or passed it by Monday morning it's back off to the RCH & if she passes it but there is blood also back off to the RCH.
She came so close to having an Operation to remove it, Just so grateful it didn't get stuck etc...

She's done very well, only one little cut on her finger no cuts in the mouth which is a shock considering she had two pieces of glass in there.
I can't believe how quickly she swallowed a piece of glass, i don't even know how she had time to pick a piece up.

Ok ladies, Anyone have any tips for helping M do a poo?
Just got a call from the RCH & they are a bit worried she hasn't been yet, last one was Friday am!

couldnt really find it!! how about using stubby holders? the ones for breezers etc are not as wide and should fit the bottle snuggly! i often put sophie water bottle in one over summer to help keep it cold

OMG poor maddy! Ummm also pear juice helps . Is she eating solids at all? Banana I find helps Pip.

And if all else fails, brown sugar & water will move the bowels in a matter of minutes (about 15) - a quarter teaspoon in a bottle of water is enough.

Well a first from DH this morning. He insisted on putting Pip in a sposie overnight and this morning when he changed him, the sposie had leaked inside the sleeping suit ... which doesn't happen with the snoozywuns!

PP - my DH refuses to use cloth, he won't even take a cloth nappy off Pip cause they feel "yucky". And if he does by some miracle, then he leaves it on the floor. So I'm using my cloth happily and don't budget for sposies. I do concede and buy him naturebabycare nappy wipes.

who was asking about wipes solution? I find water works best! Warm water, lovely. And then when I'm out I either carry a very little bottle of water (pop-top juice size) or pre-wet bamboo wipes & carry them in a ziplock bag ... easy as :)

Annika did soemthing very similar at christmas time cept for it was a peice of metalic glass balbal, she did cut her throat up and threw up blood but luckily it was from cutting her throat and nothing more sinister. They were very close to operating too.

Hope Maddi passes it soon.

Umm maybe a child laxitive may help if the prune juice doesnt

Mo, My mum says that a bit of soap on the end of a cotton bud (like the soapy water stuff that builds up under a bar of soap in the soap dish) & gentle twirl it around just inside the anus will irritate enough for her to open her bowels. Just like an enema would I guess. I have never done this as I have never had the need really.

Hey has anyone tried a green kids pocket boosted heaps for night? I really want to put him in cloth tonight but all night nappies are on the line so I'm thinking of improvising with something else....

Mel the only thing I have braved boosted for overnight is an IB and a Blueberry. I don't have a greenkids so I'm not sure.

Gudi - do you have any fleece (MM) covers? Cause maybe if you put that on, with a BB & then something else? I used to use BBBs with 2 long boosters (instead of the 1 short, 1 long) and that worked well.

Prior to that I used to use a fleece GK with microfibre, bamboo & flanno - that worked really well.

Yeah I was thinking of stuffing the GK (its a PUL one though) with two layers of bamboo, microfibre AND a prefold on top of it... just wondering how that would go. Don't think any of my BBB or BBH are dry .... think I only have pockets and AIO's that are dry - except for motherease, and I sooo don't trust them of a night time...

Hmm.... is it stupid to put a wool cover of a PUL cover? defeat the purpose?

Only problem is that she'll cry when doing a poo then stop, so figure it must be really sensitive down there, looks nice and red. Not really much i can do to help is there?

We were so lucky the glass was rounded & not sharp.

Mo - bit of bepanthen or something might sooth it? (Only saying that cos I used bepanthen when I got my tattoo and it helped heal it.. )

Oh Mo, I'm so glad to hear that Maddi is OK - how scary. Hope her sore little bum is better soon, it's probably pretty tender. Poor little chicken.

Exciting news girls! I have been offered a full time job starting on Tuesday, and with both of us working I can buy nappies! :woot:
I have worked for the company before as a temp and my boss liked my work ethic, I could surf BB and get all my work done before lunch! I am excited! It is reception and very easy but it means I have somewhere to be everyday and can get back into my routine!

Mo, Hope she is fine :hug: Maybe stop giving her glass bottles?

So if we move (DH has said if they stuff him around 1 more time he will get a permanent job making trailers with his bestie) It wont be for a while, and if we dont I am guaranteed full time work.

All i had to hear from DH complaining about today is:

IT wastes so much water flushing poos each time from the nappy

It wastes so much water using the little squirt

I hate Cloths - they are inconvienent and i am only using them because you want them

They are all Crap and leak

i am sick of having to change her pants when they leak (but not open to suggestions on why the leak is happening...)

i tell you what if i have to hear one more groan about my mcn's i will scream..... (then buy more!!!)

gigi - i dont think he bothered reading the instruction...did you know men dont need them!
Trinity - did you find any tips for poos? An old remedy is a teaspoon of brown sugar in their milk or lots of pears/prunes etc... hth

WOHB - Nothing... in bath with DH and MIL (they arent in the bath she is )

PP - just give him time to get used to it. We've had blow outs here, and I just say to DH that it takes a while to get the absorbency up and to get used to using a new thing... but after a few times, they are all good. Hopefully he gets better for you. Just keep telling him about how much money they are saving you.. ;)

PP ask if he realises that more water probably goes into the production of, and then attempted break down of one single disposable - as opposed to a wash of cloth. (I'm pretty sure that's right, anyone? )

PP google oz cloth nappies and there is a break down on environmental impact of MCN vs disposable...

I always say... "I just can't reason with the 400yrs of landfill for one disposable and the amount of water needed to make 1 disposable" Good luck!
