How are the bbh going for you mel?
have you tried the MM's?
I was wondering for newborn... do you think you could fold up terrys or the inserts and use the MM as a wrap as such (with snappis).. then the PUL rather than snappi'ing prefolds?
Or is newborn liquid poo a nightmare using just a booster inside a nappy?
i am also thinking of turning my trifolds/bifolds into hourglasses.. as i think the wideness in the crotch of my pocket pul's are causing the leaks (refer to above DH dummy spit post lol)...
what do you think?
WOHB... SPosie! As the one and only wool cover made its way inthe nappy pail .. oops forgot to tell DH that the wool cover is different! lol

yep christy i figured was still good, 4 nappies plus postage was $50, was just a big shock!!!
sophie is in bed, had to boost the outside of her WC tonight in between the nappy and the soaker as she's weeing through the wool and sleeping bag is getting wet!! arrhhhh sick of washing it!!!

today we had to go visit my sister for her Sons 5th birthday & when we left I was about 10 minutes from home when I realised I forgot the nappy bag. DH said not to worry about turning back & just buy a small bag of sposies. So I agreed & when we stopped at the shop I had such a hard time justifying the $14 for a sml bag of the coles brand nappies as I didn't want to but a lge bag. I almost went to buy some terry flats thinking at least they will be reused at some point. But with no prewash or Covers (so would have to buy them too) Isla would wet through them in a second. So I relented & paid the $14.
Only to realise once we got to my sister I could have just scabbed a sposie from her seems her DD is the same size as Isla! Im such a pregnant head atm!
Oh & it was horrible, isla was sitting on my lap after i changed her from her nice lush itti bitti into a icky sposie & she wee'd & I felt it. I felt the warmth of her wee on my lap. Not the wetness just the warmth & I just thought that is sooooo wrong! PLUS she had no butt! Looked terrible!
WOHB - ahhhh home made Minkee/MM fleece AI2 that I affectionately call her "elmo" nappy as its red minkee that reminds me of Elmo
-
oh bugger FJ!
i know.. after dh's dreadful MCN day, i told him.. well he wil have to make them work as i am NOT buying any more sposies! when what is there is gone they are gone!!!!!
i have a little bag that hangs on the headrest of my carseat and i have a spare wipes and nappy in that incase i ever forgot the nappy bag.... perhaps a suggestion lol???
p.s fj how do you get your bamboo booster to look so nice! my trifold (i did them fluffy side in) dont look that nice and smooth.. do you use fabric glue to stick the sides together then sew?
-
FJ my nappy bag is MY bag as well!! so i havent forgotten it yet!!
PP dinner was spring rolls, mini dim sims, curly fries and ranch dressing!! disgusting but got rid of teh morning sickness!!
-
Yeah I usually do have something in the car but took it all out the last time I cleaned the car. I might add something back in there tomorrow. there is actually a compartment under the passenger seat, I might stash away a nappy or 2 in there, that way when I clean the car out they wont come out. Hmmm, think I will put my 2 swaddlebee pockets in there. I don't grab for them often so they will be good "in case" nappies.
eta - Jols, Yep, again I normally just stash one or two in my bag & off I go. But my sister is about 2 hours away so was taking a few more then usual.
-
yummo AJP! with my morning sickness i lived on original smiths chips lol... great nutrition huh! :)
-
i've been loving salt and vinegar ones!!!
ive also answered your other question!!

Well, I washed all my clothys and did a stocktake. I have 14 clothys I can use, but most of them are prefolds in covers. Other than that, I have:
1 BBB
1 BumGenius pocket
1 Cushie Tushie
1 Motherease Bamboo
1 Pumpkin & Parents Pocket
I've got more BB's and prefolds on the way (can't wait for fluffy mail!) - hopefully this week.
I like the BumGenius - but have only used it once. We seem to do ok with the prefolds, and seeing as they're so cheap, we'll probably stick with them until he's a bit bigger and fits in the OSFM better...
He's done two big poos in the clothys so far and they've all cleaned up nicely (except for some staining on the Mio cover) which makes me very impressed!
Now I'm off to see about doing that Weeuns order... *ker-ching!*
-
I'm not going to type out what's in my stash...
And should I even admit I'm still waiting on some stuff in the mail? No. No I don't think I will admit that.. :p

Pink Palace - were you asking about trifold + cover for a newborn, as in does it hold the nb poo? i can answer that, cos that's what i used mainly with our new bilby (when she was new - aw).
i pad folded a baby beehinds bamboo foldup (30 x 30cm) and put that inside a nb sized cover (e.g bambino mio PUL cover with leg gussets). I laid a microfleece liner on top of the foldup. No snappi needed to shut the trifold, cos the cover was snug. I think you need a snappi if the cover isn't snug. ANyway, the prefold + cover routine worked great with our mega pooping bilby - who pooped VERY often!! in all directions, very comprehensively!!! But it was all contained in the cover (leg gussets rock!!) so i was happy. Nothing the little squirt coudln't handle haha.
Did your dh read the Little Squirt instructions?
if you press the trigger handle ALL the way, yes you will squirt the walls. The instructions say to HALF depress the handle, so you get a much gentler spray. You need to have the item well down in the toilet bowl too. I do the items one by one, rest them first on the upturned nappy bucket lid.
Tell your dh, if he tried to drive his car without using the key, of course it wouldn't work. If he tries to use MCN on your bub, without really understanding how they work, of course he's going to have "issues" with them and they will not work.
You now have lots of answers to your pocket stuffing question over on NC, so i won't double up on that.
AJP, swaddlebees will ship to Aus, but not Blueberry. I cannot get the site to even load for me!!! Just when dh said we will need larges for childcare (pre-empting bilby growing out of the mediums). ARGH!
PinkPalace - about the car - i have a daggy old nappy bag i got at an opshop, i leave a packet of wipes, two spare waterproof nappies in there, a changemat - and leave the bag under the passenger seat for emergencies - like the rare time we go thru all the nappies in the nappy bag and are still not home yet. only happened to us once, but it's good to have it there for peace of mind.
WOTBB: kester kovers aio in medium long (for my short bub!!) but she sure does need it for the rise. I think she will outgrow the rise before she outgrows the snaps, we're still on the smallest snaps setting when she's over the lower weight range.
waves to alioops, buried under all those moving boxes!
where is melbel these days? hope you are ok sweets!

We had a shocking day here yesterday. I'll copy & paste from my baby thread.
Maddi broke her glass bottle today & swallowed a piece of glass, yes you read that right SWALLOWED a piece a of glass about 1cm by 6mm.
Took her to Casey hospital, who then sent us to the Royal Children's.
Thankfully it's passing through her system fine, but if she hasn't done a poo or passed it by Monday morning it's back off to the RCH & if she passes it but there is blood also back off to the RCH.
She came so close to having an Operation to remove it, Just so grateful it didn't get stuck etc...
She's done very well, only one little cut on her finger no cuts in the mouth which is a shock considering she had two pieces of glass in there.
I can't believe how quickly she swallowed a piece of glass, i don't even know how she had time to pick a piece up.
Sorry for the selfish post!
