Are they good overnight Nelle? Cos I just use the normal ones overnight and they are awesome..
ahahhahahahahhahha I cant keep up with you lot doesnt help that i have an order to fill either ;)
Musical instruments - I went away to band camp in grade 6 (an NO thereere no flutes going into ANY parts of my body) I played theuitar and have no idea how to play it now. I also sang in the choir but Im a bit shy (yes ME) about my voice.
Nappy wise...**** Jed and I just bought a big bookshelf for Mateauz room so we can put his nappies in there instead of all over the place. I'll take a pic of it later when all the clean and folded nappies are in there. Have to sell of some of his Berry plush covers cause their to small in the rise for him now :( mediums here we come
BBL - so need a shower its not funny
On Si they're good overnight, if they're stuffed well, I've not used Minkytimes overnight on Riv I don't think...? I've used Funtimes overnight though. With Riv, I have to make sure he's wearing pants though, GK's are the only nappy (apart from sposies) where he fiddles with the tabs. :)
ETA: Whoa Maz, Mat too big for smalls, that's awesome! He must be doing so well!! That's grouse about the bookcase too. Today I'm trying to sort out the boys' nappy systems too. (Trying to find something that Riv can't reach and destroy ) As for flutes and band camps, THAT is why I don't really tell people I played the flute on band camps...just not worth the grief. :P
That movie has alot to answer for :cryinglaugh: SO glad I don't play the flute haha!
I always thought that I would be a piano teacher  My mum is a singing teacher, her mum was a piano teacher, her dad was a singer and her brother is a trumpeter. My brother is truly a trumpeter, but also has his own soul band in which he is the lead singer, and he spends much of life outside of gigs composing and arranging. As well as adjudicating comps, and running workshops etc. He plays trumpet in a very cool band that FJ and I love, but don't ask QM about it, she hates them PMSL! We were sent to a school in Melb that is known for it's music program. I played piano for years, was studying for my AMus.A, but as I was working FT (training in dental assisting) I couldn't dedicate the time to it (you need to spend at least 3 hours a day practising), so decided not to sit the exam. I played the french horn for 6 years and studied singing for about 5. I also did up to sixth grade theory. So a true music nerd, I really was the ultimate geek LOL! But I hated school by year 12, so got a job and left , did my DA training and haven't looked back. I don't regret it, I really love my job. I do wish that I'd spent more time on my singing though, but I think because it's my mum's thing, I sort of stayed away from it IYKWIM? So that's my not-very-interesting music story. I'm glad I had all those opportunities though, and hope I can give the same to our kids.
Um, nappy related........have I been missing something? Is it a well known fact that GKs do well overnight? Obviously they'd need to be heavily stuffed, but I can see how it would work.
WOHB: another flat! but about to be a BBH
Nah, i couldn't imagine the GK giraffe minky pocket being used at night, that would be a waste - too beautiful to hide at night! I'm sure Nelle is too busy admiring it on Riv or Si in the daytime.
Janie et al - i enjoy hearing your musical pasts. I have no idea what movie you are referring to about flutes and bands - but i can make a guess what it might be regarding as in the Man Flute - bawdy US college movie by any chance??
I love the Cat Empire too.
Queen - hmmm the SB - have you got the right size inserts for the equivalent size nappy? Or have you tried using a trifold or bifold instead?
when you first get brand new SB inserts, they look too big, you do the prewashes and they shrink. that's all i got babe!
Maz - busy busy - how unlike you! i hope you got to stand under the shower (alone) and just daydream a little bit - - enjoy the warm water.
The price of the new flexitots is STILL not up on the NN site, i'm dying to know how much they will be. impatient.
RAVEN - i had a honeyboy on bilbs when she was 5kg (the small, that goes up to 6kg). It fitted beautifully. But when i tried the medium - that's when the crotch width was suddenly way too wide and that's where we stopped. Plus she undid them!!! But as an AIO for a small bub, i think they totally rock - brilliant pootainment, i wish we had had that one from birth.
HAPPY DUE DATE MELHAM!!! here, let me make you a cup of raspberry leaf tea.
STRIP WASH
a few people have asked about this, and as we've had a reasonable number of newbies, so here is a cut and paste from ozclothnappies, the FAQ part, on STRIP WASHING
Residue and Strip Washing
A caution if you use your normal detergent is to watch for residue build up which can cause nappies to smell or repel liquid, or cause an irritant nappy rash. To fix this you can just rinse until the nappies do not produce suds - keep on checking the washing machine outlet. If you're in an area with severe water restrictions and are using flats or prefolds, you might consider boiling the nappies instead. I've even heard of people who have put them in their dishwasher, but watch that you don't use dishwasher detergent, you rinse well, and that they can't fall onto the outlet filter or element.
Strip Wash: If you get a particularly bad buildup of wash product residue, you can "strip" your nappies with very very hot water and a little bit of plain (non-moisturising) dishwashing liquid. Don't use dishwashing liquid in a front loader, and check care instructions before using extremely hot water on modern cloth nappies. Watch for over-foaming, and rinse nappies very thoroughly afterwards until absolutely no suds remain.
Another way to strip wash is to add bicarbonate of soda to the wash, and vinegar to the rinse. Warning: Some nappies cannot be washed using these products, so please
check with your nappy manufacturers carefully before trying this.
Some people rotate through two or three different kinds of washing detergent to keep residue issues down. In general, using well under the recommended amount of detergent helps stop residue from bulding up in the first place!
Another possible cause of buildup on a nappy is the use of thick barrier creams. These are generally unnecessary if the nappy is changed often enough. If you do experience this problem, you may need to scrub the nappy inner with a nailbrush and a little washing-up liquid before continuing with the strip wash procedure above.
It can also be a case of working out what is right for your baby. If your routine is working, stick with it!
END OF CUT N PASTE FROM OZCLOTHNAPPIES FAQ LINK.
Janie - singalongs must be fun at your house! Did you ever play in any of Melbourne's youth orchestras? We might have bumped into each other at some point and never knew it. I always wanted to play french horn - when Euan is a little older I might take it up. One of my classmates was a horn player and we used to 'swap' from time to time - I have a better embouchure for horn than trumpet but by that stage my parents had already bought two trumpets and I thought they might hit the roof if I asked them for a french horn as well.
Crikey, we should start a 'musos who use cloth nappies thread', shouldn't we!
WOHB: a different BumG to the one he had on last time I posted.
Gigi - wow - good strip wash instructions. I've saved them as I think I'll be due for a strip wash soon! Ta Goddess of Cloth!
hi girls
I have a BBH that was given to me. and it is so rough and scratchy
Any ideas on it being soft again? it is in great condition but feels like sandy paper!!
Gigi - we have been using BBB on her. NO creams or no bath wash
Sensitive powder yes
Half the amount yed
Use wipes but they are no difference for the past 13 months
She is teething (back molars), so i am putting it down to that
Try bunging it in the dryer on low for five or ten minutes - that should soften it up nicely. Or scrunch it up heaps to separate the pile.
i scrunch too PP and that seems to work!!
Can some one please tell me which night nappyhas the highest rise??? I have a tummy sleeper so need high rise.
I am thinking of asking whizz kids when they restocking or contacting snoozywuns
thanks girls - i will give it a go
Ashleys nappy rash is still really bad .. she has been in sposies for 2 days now and have been using bepanthen or zinc
Then past 2 days her facial rash (mouth/chin and eyes) are flared up too and very bad.... i am thinking it is not a dairy allergy like the dr thinks it is - she hasnt had dairy in 2 weeks. and it is bad today.. so i am at a total loss with my poor little girls body today.
WOHB - sposie.. :(
Bea - Snoozywuns is pretty high I think.. I would measure it for you if I knew how... lol.. I'm guessing just from one side, under the crutch, and up the back??? I only have larges here though.. and DS is a tummy sleeper too.
PP - your poor little mite.. I hope they figure it out soon what is causing her rash.. she is such a gorgeous little girl...
WOHB: Haute pocket at the mo..
PP would that be the hemp one that is made from french terry? Not much you can do about softening them up besides a bit of scrunching while they are drying or a light roll in the dryer.
yep, rise is if you lay it out from top to bottom,
I have my tax cheque coming very soon and am going to get 4 night nappies.
Am going to decide between whizz kids and snoozywuns i think
hopefully both places will take custom orders cause no one has any up for sale!!
Gudism.. it is dreadful , she looks terrible.
And people look at her like she is diseased.
I am wondering if the 2 are related... but not sure why.
Well i washed and piled all my cloths... anyone wanna share stash pics lol (bored)
DH is out at a bucks and DD is asleep.... thinking of having lollies for dinner lol... mmm banana smoothie but damn it no icecream left!
Happy EDD mel too!
Bea - if you lay it flat (and pull it) its 50cm... if you don't pull it its 48... LOL
PP - I would take a pic of my newborn stash.. but people might think I'm expecting twins.. lol
PP, is her rash spotty? or just angry red? If it is spotty, even if it is only around the edges it could be thrush. and around her mouth could be dribble rash or thrush.
Sarah had a good day toilet wise today. she has just put her bedtime nappy on and DH is reading to her now. Em has been good today too, but had a leak or 2. she has also just had a sposie put on for bed as our night nappies are in the washing machine.
Mel, hang in there hun. it is called an EDD for a reason, it is only and estimate and that baby will come out when it is properly cooked. spend as much time as you can relaxing now before it arrives. maybe a refreshing candle lit dinner folloowed by a bath and if you feel like it some BD ;) then bubs can come
I think I will tell CC to give yoghurt a break for a week or 2 and see if Em keeps chucking. she has been more chucky than she should be lately so I am wondering if she isn't handling yoghurt well. Does make sense though.
I hung my washing out on the line coz it was sunny this afternoon, and not more than 2 hours later the rain started ! oh well, the forecast for the week is fine, fine, fine, lets hope I can catch up on my washing then!
Heres my stash! (and i am still planning on getting about 30 prefolds... trying to find cheap ones online before i have to sew some).
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...php?photo=8125
lol - twins for GUdism.... maybe they will think the same for me!
Ali- it is from her vjayjay down to the crest of her tail bone and half way across the cheeks evenly one both side.. it is angry red in some spots and red otherwise in this whole space.
Her face is dreadful. mouth inside it fine. All around her mouth to her chin and lower cheeks red... some coming up as blisters, and her eyes are all red and patchy angryness!.. ill see if i can upload a pic (not today as she is asleep but from a fews days ago).
:(
PP, Nice Stash! Em's Thrush spread from the bottom of her gut, down to her bum crack and down her thighs, it was very angry and bilstery and only had spots on the edges, because it was so bad. her mouth was very aggrivated with dribble rash by a runny nose that she kept wiping all over her face, and that looked a bit blistery too. The MCN with microfleece liners and anti fungal cream mixed with hydrocortizone was what finally got rid of it for her. Sposies made her sweat and didn't breathe enough to let it dry out.
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...00&ppuser=8455
Here is some pics of her face - these are over the past 2 weeks. Today it is 200% worse. She hasnt one patch of clear skin aroudn her mouth/chin
I wonder if it is thrush and the bum is too?
most of my BBB are new and so surely not a build up of washing powder?
PP - this is a message from the Bear about your banana smoothie
slice the bananas and put them in the freezer until they're frozen, then blend them to make the smoothie with a little vanilla and the frozen bananas will do the job of the ice cream...
so sorry about your poor little girl.... have you thought about taking her to the doctor? and is the rash itchy? Not sure what it might be, but it sounds pretty awful for her.
And you too - all those lovely nappies going to waste!
She has been to the doctor (2 weeks ago) and advice was:
- Cut out all dairy - put back on formula
- Bathe only in water - no wash products
I have done this and not improving.. surely after 2 weeks id see a difference and now this nappy rash!
The rash doesnt seem to annoy her on the face , she rubs her eyes and doesnt like her bottom washed though.
I know all those MCN's just siting there... doing nothing....
Thank Bear for me:) She is always full of culinary delights for my kitchen *hugs*
PP it does look like an allergy rash but have yoiu considered hand foot and mouth?
for nappy rash i found the Gaia soothing lotion works well!!
ALI i dont put washing out this time of year with out checking this out first!!
Australian Weather Watch Radar Network
Allergy to what though AJP this is what is confusing me! :(
She hasnt had anything new and if it was dairy.. surely it would improve since stopping dairy not get worse :(
is she off wheat, soy, eggs etc....
she has never had soy,
not off wheat
rarely has egg
never had this rash until she had her 12 month shots - 1 week later got a cold, ear infection - started on penicillin, rash started and not stopped (past 7 -8 weeks).
Has she had any blood tests hun? spots all over her face can mean chicken pox. does she have spots on her hands and feet? if she does then it is likely to be HF&M. from the pics it looks like it isn't just her mouth being affected, looks like her whole face. when she is awake strip her off completely and look all over for any spots or irregularities, they might give you some hints. has she had a temp?
How old is she? has she had any vaccines recently?
Lovely stash there PP!
Janie - Hate is such a strong word.... plus I don't 'hate' the band as such, just, uh, strongly dislike the kind of music they play... ;)
Gigi - Yup, medium naps, medium inserts, BUT, I realised when I was washing that it was only one leak with the SBs, the other was with a peapods so the situation is not as dire as first thought lol.
Oh, gots to go watch the bill, how sad am I lol, that's my saturday night & I don't mind one bit!
WOPB: BBH Bamboo & mazzy giraffe cover...
Ali-
She has had no temps
No spots anywhere else
Have beeen there 7-8 weeks - no crusting or blistering to indicate chicken pox
QM - thanks about my stash... wanna see pics of others
Man, I started to post then Punky woke up & when I posted BOOM, so many other posts show up!! Just wanted to say PP I have nae a clue about the rash or what to do for it but OMG your DD has THE cutest, saddest, puppy dog eyes.... :( I bet you cave everytime when she wants something & looks at you like that!
**PS my stash is NEVER all neat & washed like that lol, like right now, almost every MCN I have is in the machine lol
be mindfull what things she eats that contains egg taht you might not realise! i say this becasue the MMR contains chicken fetus!! (egg) what about food colourings or perservatives?
THis is her normal diet
Breakfast - banana, vitabrit and formula milk
Morning tea - fresh fruit (pear/apple/sultana)
Lunch - vegemite or avocado sanga, vegetables (steamed bare)
Afternoon tea - Fresh fruit/celery or carrot stick
Dinner - usually meat, veg or pasta
So nothing artifical or packet wise - nothing that would have hidden extras and nothing new that she hasnt been eating for over 6-7 months.
QM - lol i know it is such a sad photo hehe :( ill put up a happy one to even out the balance. As for the neat napppies - its because she is in sposies for this bottom of hers and they are not in use
PP I have just been doing some research on the Dept Heath immunisation website, and it looks like it could be a mild reaction to the MMR vaccine, specifically the measles. Has she had a cough, runny nose or inflammation of her eyes? If it is from the vaccine, it is nowhere near as severe as she would have gotten it if she hadn't been vaccinated. If it is not a reaction to the vaccine then I would be asking the Dr about thrush. Em was not liking being cleaned at all while she had the thrush but now she is fine, and it persisted for a few weeks.
Well it all flared up after her 12 month shots - and i told the doctor this, the week after i took her back as the cold and ear infection started and a light rash (assumed due to a weakening of the immune system) and she was started on Penicillin - after about 3 days the rash increased to what you see in the pics.
It has just been hanging on so long and now the bum has joined in. I am wondering if it is thrush? - she has a dummy in at night and it is always the worst in the morning.. i boil her dummies every day.
Im sorry if i am frustrating anyone having this in the cloth nappy thread... perhaps we can go to chat room?
New thread time HERE
