Oh really Mel? Might have to wander over to Nurture...
I suppose I could stop eating chicken chips and change a nappy...
Mmmm.. chicken chips..
Ok me bad.. spent more money.. damn those tempting things...
I nearly got a minky GK.. but resisted...
ummm i just did a naughty too....
there was wild child night nappy on B4B for $35 (wellt here is 2 actually but i just brought one) hardly used!!
FJ- picked up those gorgeous nappies today!!! Thank you. they are doing there rounds in the washing machine!! might stick them in the dryer so i can use one tonight!!
Maz, I noticed and did a google search but only came up with the happy hieneys ones and you asked about BBH ones.
I need Hyena lessons!
Still no tax cheque :(
Ness was it a plus? You may find the standard too small for Annika.
oh pooh, didnt know that FJ. it just says one size fits most, but it has the newer high rise.
there is still another one on there if you want a look
Annika is only 10kg, luckily i have MJ if it dont fit!!! lol
i'll go see hang on.
sophie still fits the normal rise ones!!
i need to get teh elastic fixed in my other one, its useless at the moment! :(
Ness, Looks like its the standard fit. I think you will find it too small but should be ok for MJ. Isla is also about 10kgs & while I can get the standard on her, the rise is too low.
back to cleaning my house! Isla got the sugar while I was on the phone & its EVERYWHERE!
Oh well FJ luckily i have MJ!!!
Have uploaded a piccy of Mj in the hosp yest here
Maz- did you buy a cow print one??
Fj- didnt get the nappies washed and dry in time, have done 4 washes hopefully that is enough!!!
B, that should be plenty, I wouldn't have even bothered with more then 1 LOL. The bamboo itself has been prewashed before sewing & then you washed 4 times, so thats 5 prewashes, you should be good to go!
Well i have DD in 12 layers of bamboo with her BBB and a Large Cover.. And even still it doesnt cover over the top of her BBB.... so i am guessing it will leak again..
They dont make them any bigger and she is only 9kg so what the????
If we have a repeat of last night then she will be in sposies at night!
PP - maybe get a pair of longies or something that completely go over? I notice that my BB Wool covers don't completely cover my snoozywuns (but they don't leak either until his morning flood and thats after he is out of bed anyways) but the shorties that i have cover the snoozywun and the sandman that I have as well...
Maybe you just need to invest in a pair of those?
I have no other suggestions (other than to go with a snoozywun..lol)
PP- def get some longies!!! try from darlings down under or nuture nappies have them on spe both are 30 each
PP, PM me your addy again & will send you a Malden Mills fleece cover. Im sure I can spare one.
i second the longies or shorties!! the wool cover s are too short here too
Just wanted to pop in to leave a message for Maz as I know she lives in here :p
Thanks so so so much for the fluffy mail!! Now I can prove that the sun does shine out of my little man's behind!!!!! Thanks again!!
perhaps it is the preg hormones.. i have no idea.
But i am trying the Large BBH wool on, and have DH over my shoulder going on about how crap cloths are (and trust me i dont him i dont want to hear it anymore).
BUt it is true... DD can hardly walk with what i have bulked her up in and it must be uncomfortable and a disposable is sooo thin!
I pray it doesnt leak... i cant handle another day of 'i told you so's"
Does anyone use their wool covers during the day? or still to PUL's?
Surely if it is a large cover it should cover a boosted BBB?
Fj -ive pm'ed you. Does fleece do the same as wool to stop leaking?
WOHB - Pink BBB + short and long inserts + 4 layers of bamboo + 2 layers of microfibre + wool cover :(
grrrr....So annoyed now!!
DF keeps putting our longies in teh washing basket, even though I have told him SOOO many times not to. Usually I catch them before they go in to the wash, but the inevitable has happened - I pulled them out of the washing machine this afternoon! :( :(
My own fault really, for just dumping all the pile in the machine...grrr @ me!
So now they are all matted, well, pretty much felted really, and they appear to have shrunk... Thank the Goddess that they weren't my good merino ones!
WOHB: cant remember, but its about to come off for bath time...
ETA - PP - I think you should just keep playing til you find what works...and in the meantime tell DH to f*** off! lol
PP - i use my longies all the time. Mateauz has I think 6 pairs now and we rotate them with his flongies. Woolies seem like thte way to go for you. Id do what Ness says...go NN or DDU and get some while their cheap
michelle - glad you like them hun :)
Oh Shiat Alexis - I did exactly the same thing a few weeks ago..there is stuff you can buy to help release the wool..god what is ---fullers earth i think...some one HELP US!!!!!!!
after paying for my BBH layby on tuesday via paypal and extra for express..I got an email today after mine telling me they just got sent of today...Im praying that they turn up on monday
PP - go tell your DH he is a real negative nancy!!!! We had a bit of a blow out just before, but these things happen, its not the end of the world, its just a bit of pee!!!! Everything is washable after all!!!!
Cloth is cool - repeat after me.. cloth is cool...
WOHB: Snoozywun with longies (and a pair of socks cos the longies are too shorties on his legies.. heehee!!
can someone pm me the link to wild childs please..my brains aren't working atm
Wow - lots to catch up on & I haven't even been anywhere lol!!
I am tired now after reading page upon page about cow print minkee... felted longies.... leaking BBH... bargain babylegs.... *yawn*
Living vicariously through everyone who has got or will be getting fluffy mail, none for me for aggggggges, both in the future & the past lol. I DO want some purty longies, but apart from that I'm cool man I'm cool. Ah, I see your lollies are coming along Maz... will be in a bit of that action me thinks.
God I am lazy with washing - back down to flats again!! Atleast it didn't rain today & I managed to get some pockets on & off the line.
Well that was a boring post!! Sorry!!
thanks chickies - love to you all for sharing with me...dame shame their sold out of what I want
Vic - have no idea what your takling about lol
what are you after Maz?
f that dame cow nappy!!! dame it ive got fat arsed cows on the brain
ness - im buying that other night time nappy :) shhh dont tell jed
i was just looking at a cow print wet bag & thought of you actually LOL.
WC doesn't have any cow print stuff that I know of
eta- this was my 5000th post!
Well Maz i figured i would leave you the boy one and i took the girl one!!(mine was penne collata/orange) it was what i had planned all along, honest
b, if Annika doesn't need a high rise, you may find it fits her ok. just remember to boost to the front with the lay in booster seems she is a tummy girl.
PP the large cover should be ample. I have no problems at all with the coverage on mine! I would suggest you take pictures of the nappy and cover on DD and email them the BBH and ask them what the problem is because something is wrong there
Maybe it's a small cut batch or maybe you've shrunk it (have you washed it in hot water or something?). Putting her to bed with the nappy poking out is setting it up for a failure. Sorry to be blunt but give the cloth a miss overnight till you get a cover that covers the whole nappy otherwise it is a waste of time.
I used to use the wool covers during the day. I use AIO's mostly now but if I run out then they get a wear if I need.
Maz I had a look at minky delight and have a few desires. I'll call you tomorrow and discuss a plan ;)
 we really are bad influences aren't we. I was umming and ahing over those longies on NN - the reef ones...**** they are gorgeous but I had to get another WC cause the nautic one we have is getting a bit small and as Fiona informs me its actually a day nappy not a night nappy. I'd actually love another one of thsoe cause they are Jed's favourite nappy but their all sold out so I'll have to wait :(
now im gonna wiat and seeif Sammi wnats any minkee then im making one hell of an order
ETA - god can you tell im tired..hahahahhahah i didnt even see your post Sam..hahahahah ok its a date :)
oh on a different note- my phone shiat itsself yesterday (mobile) so I got a nioce little purple ericson that I told Jed im gonna make a nappy cover for..he just laughed at me
REPLIES
in the order of which they were posted by the various people
(that's why some people come up a few times)
Limey - oh, so the BG come in their own little wetbag - like the peapods do - sorry - i had not seen those.
Pink Palace - which Disana's?
DIsana is a brand of MCN, they make various products.
Are you meaning the Disana woollen pullup soakers? (great for nights).
I have an XL for my gal (who is technically a M) cos they are designed like a concertina, so even one too large for your bub, is fine (doesn't look too big and bulky) when they are smaller. So instead of buying five sizes, you can get away with 2 or 3 over the nappy life of your child. they are high waisted (wonderful for night nappying). Great photos of them on real babies, same size on different weight bubbas at greenmountaindiapers (US site). just google it.
(that's how i figured out what size to buy). Weewuns have just recently dropped their price.
LIMEY - have you tried OUTER boosting your tots fluffle? that is, adding a booster between the nappy and the cover. so you do up the fluffle, put a booster on the OUTSIDE of the FLuffle, then do up the cover.
i sewed in three layered booster of bamboo into the Fluffle to assist with absorbency.
we use Fluffles you can snappi shut, so very adjustable. i got aplix fluffle and quick unpicked the aplix, so we could use the snappi instead.
The Fluffle is what i suggest when i see posts about people desperate for a fast drying nappy. Each nappy has it's own strengthens (for diff reasons).
PINK PALACE - i can't knit either, but i can do basic sewing. I get an opshop jumper and make a pair of woollen longies out of it - that's called a bumjumper when you look up the free patterns. Now i'm getting more confident, i trace a pattern around a pair of tracksuit pants that i like the style of (remember to stretch out the waist band) and use that as my template.
the trick is to find 100%wool jumpers to do it with. ANyhoo, easier (for me) than the knitting a pair of longies (hell would freeze over first!!!).
they work great for overnights too.
LONGIES - made of wool
BUMJUMPER - longie made of big jumper that is 100% wool
FLONGIES - made of fleece
MAZ - i googled for COW PRINT MINKY and got a site that sells six animal print minkies BUT NOT COWPRINT!!! (nelle, maz was after cowprint minky fabric, not blueberries as far as i understood. but someone else mentioned that the blueberries have a cowprint minky nappy.) It's so hard to keep track of all the posts isn't it?
NESSA - how is Milliana today?
PINK PALACE - there are many HIGH RISE night cover options.
i get covers like this to go over my bulkiest OSFA Night nappies no worries!
- bear bottoms malden mills fleece covers (easy care, washing machine)
- woollen soakers, shorties and longies
- disana woollen pull soakers
- flongies
WOOL keeps baby dry IF YOU LANOLISE it, and wool is a high percentage, like 100%
Nappycino forum has a great link called WHY WOOL - all is revealed there
When you buy a night cover, you need to measure your bub's rise BEFORE you buy the night cover. The rise of a night nappy will be longer than a day nappy cos night nappies have more layers to them. So that is why the night covers are often a bigger size than the day covers. I don't use the night covers in the day, cos they are bulky to put under clothes. (except for the longies, which just REPLACE trousers in the day time). But i'm so impressed with how dry they keep bilby's bedding, i don't care the knitted soakers (covers like the Disana woollen pullup) only get used at night. We don't have to do all that bed linen washing, so i'm more than happy.
So get out a tape measure, or buy one from Woolworths in the haby aisle,
put Ashley in her night nappy, fully boosted
and meausure
FROM Ashley's belly button, down, between the legs and up the other side, all the way to the small of the back.
that will give you the magic number, her NIGHT RISE.
ANyone you buy your night cover from, TELL THEM HER NIGHT RISE. Heck, add a few cm's to it, cos i'm sure Ashley will grow!
the woollies with the drawstrings are great, so easy to adjust for whatever your bub's waist is at the time.
Pink, honey, calm down. You may have a BB wool cover that SAYS it's a large - did you get it new or 2nd hand? it may have been shrunk by accident - so you're beaten before you even start.
I really think you need a dedicated night nappy (with the appropriated sized cover), and use your BBH for day nappies for Miz A. Or at least until she becomes a lighter wetter at night.
Your dh is right about one thing - MCN doesn't work if you use the wrong tool for the job. Once you are using what Ashley really needs (right size, night nappy for night) i think you will see a vast improvement. Then dh will be eating his words!
LIMEY - how hot was the wash your longies got stuck in? Fuller's Earth is something (from the chemist, a bit tricky to hunt down) that i tried on the reccy of KAZBAH to unshrink a woolly. DIdn't work for me, but mine had been thru the hot drier as well!
GUDISM - if you put babylegs on under his shorties, you won't get the gape.
Queen - can you email me please hon - my current email for you just does bounce bounce bounce.
WOTBB: DragonflyMagik Night Nappy AIO
do you know what Gigi - you are a dame legend woman! I found some minkee and am now on a mission. Ive got a big order to fill and then im gonna have me some fun again...hmm apples come to mind ;) which I do believe one needs to be sent via your way
**** people! I just spent damn near 3 hours reading this thread!!
Kinda got fluffy mail today - got the microfleece I ordered so I can cut it up for lners. Got a bucketful of washing to do (including pooey) too, but haven't done either yet!
Think I'll put the washing on and then go to bed. Will cut up the liners tomorrow!
Wish I had a lot more to say now - seems kinda ridiculous to spend so long reading and only 2 mins posting!
WOHB - Motherease bamboo - boosted, with BBH Wool cover.
me me me.... I want some minky delight minky...Can I play too?!!! pwetty pwetty pweeeeessssseeeee?!!!
Oooh - I know what else I was going to ask....
Does anyone crochet wool covers? I'm a hopeless knitter, but can crochet ok. Does anyone have crochet patterns?? Where would i get these from? I've got some awesome hand-dyed organic wool that I'd love to make into longies & shorties!
Any help would be appreciated!
BTW - am currently shopping online... ;)
Yay :hooray: - fluffy mail is coming!
Just ordered 4 nappies:
Sandman
Blueberry Minkee (you talked me into it!)
Green Kids
Good Night Sleep Tight night nappy
Over $150 so free postage! yay! I did get registered post though, especially after so many of you have said about fluffy mail going missing :( Would break my heart if it didn't turn up!
Toni - I think there are crochet threads and patterns on nappycino...Gigi will prolly be able to tell you exactly where...but have a look there is a section about sewing adn making your own gear :)
Gigi - They only went through cold, so I am suprised at the shrinkage, but they are certainly well adn truly stuffed!! Ill have a look around tomorrow - Fuller's Earth is it at the chemist? *fingers crossed my backwater town in my backwater state sell such a thing!! lol*
Maz - Thanks hun! :) And I'll take moo cow cover when you get you minky ;) Been looking for a moo cow cover for AAAGES!
WOHB: Sandmans and meriono soaker...Soaker is a little loose around the waist so hoping for the best!! lol
Ohm speaking of which - how do you girls get PJ pants over a night nappy with a saoker?? She is in her babylegs and socks atm cos I dont have any PJs with big enough bum space
nettie
i emailed BBH - no photo though. ANd told them the situation and waiting for an email back.
Maz
I had a sad last night and told DH that i need longies lol. i saw the ones on DDU - are these a good brand, are there any other brands that people recommend... Also should you up size?
Gudism
CLoth is cool Cloth is cool! lol thanks huh needed that!
Now where is that baby of yours.... repeat after me..... Baby come out baby come out!
WOHB - hoping a non soaked BBB + wool cover..... did wake up over night so that is promising but havent seen her this morning yet.....
PP - I was going to ask how she went overnight. Nina is a huge wetter, day and night. We were using sposies on her overnight for a while there as she was doing explosive poos in the mornings. But they've stopped now, and I've gone back to cloth. On her, we use BBB, 2 short boosters, long booster folded in half & a large wool cover. Nina has wide hips and is tall, but the large wool cover fits over her nappy ok. Hopefully you can find a solution to your problem, or try a different cover. I know a few people up my way prefer to use fleece covers at night rather than wool, so you could give that a go?
limeslice - Nina is usually a size 2 in pants, but her pyjamis are a size 3 to fit over her big butt.
nettie - yay on fluffy mail!
Can someone tell me where I can get a good cover for Nina (fleece preferably) while I'm patiently waiting for Maz to restock ;)
