woohoo just registered for my first nappy hunt and I was so excited until I saw Nelle's post and now I'm wondering what I got myself in for :-)

Nettie - when people come over DH slides the top of our kitchen table into a box and hides it in our bedroom. It drives me nuts but I don't have time to argue as I'm racing around trying to hide the piles of washed (but not put away clothes) and toys :-) We are considering moving our kitchen table outside to try and create more space and have less clutter (we live in a very very small house)

Gigi - woohoo on the free fluffy mail! Ari has some dolly nappies and she loves them! She can't put them on her dolly yet but insists we put one on bub when we change her.

That just reminded me of the funniest story. We were at playgroup a few weeks back (before we started using sposies at night on ari) and a little girl had a sposie on and no pants. Ari kept going up and playing with the kind of paper frill at the back and poking it like "What on earth is this thing!" She much prefers her cloth bottoms esp her minky ones :-)

Melham- are you talking Cushie tushies or cute tooshie?

if u are talking avout cushie tushies yes they are OSFM. i use them Annika and she is 2 years old (approx 11kg) she has room to grow.
Are they basix or couture nappies? couture have a hidden layer if PUL so should def not leak.. i fngd with the basix it is best to use a cocer for longer lasting wear,
how many washes had they had?

Gigi - one's cowprint and the other is "on the farm" which is blocks of different colours with different animals and their sounds. Really nice. TBH, only having the 2 hasn't been a problem up till now, as the CC puts his dirty nappies in plastic bags (rolls eyes) which sorta defeats the purpose!!!! But we have our Parent/Carer interview on Monday arvo, so hopefully will get that sorted.

I had put 2 nappies under the chair to try on Pip (with a liner) and had forgotten what they were! I only thought I had one! So one's the ecobubs wool (chocolate & blue stripes) and the other is a bubblebubs GNST I forgot I ordered. Woohoo! That brings me to 5 night nappies!

I loved the mummy's touch mama pads, does anyone else have any brands for me to try?

WoHB - zappynappy with PUL cover. Expecting a poo soon, so have a nice big liner on it.

And every nappy in the house is clean (bar 2 - the night nappy from last night and what he's wearing!) albeit not neccessarily dry ;)

Sarah - my house is a bombshell, I just found a lady to help 3 hours a fortnight. I'm finding I'm getting the vacuuming done, not neccessarily the mopping. Or I'll get the vacuuming/mopping done but not the cobwebs (I miss geckos) or the dusting. *sighs*

Kaz - try some Obsidian pads..theya re fantastic too

not much to report here...have to fix 3 IB that I bought form a lady (elastic is gone in them) .

Im going to make up a collage thing for the hospital's NICO ward were mateauz was. They loved his blue BP on him and said he was the baby with the nice bum so I thought I might put a photo of him in it and the cover so they can hang it up in there. Nice way to advocate to some new mums to ;)

i think I have to do a srtip wash on Vy's BBH's..they stink something fearce this morning

Saram - I've registered for the nappy hunt for the first time too! Might have to do some of it at work when I get back there... DH hogs the computer at home! :lol: with the box of stuff off the table! If DH did this, we'd just have 20 boxes of stuff in our room!!

Melham - one of my cushie tushies leak a lot too. We usually put a cover on it. Funnily enough the minkee one doesn't! And thanks for the tip - I'll check out B4B...

Yeah, we are back in cloth today!!!! The horrible poops have stopped (touch wood)

Nettie - well... yes we do have quite a few boxes of cr@p. Apparently it's my job to go through them and sort them out after he has dumped everything in there. it really ruins the whole layering system. You know how you know you put it down on top of this and then that was from the week after so it will be under that :-)

Kaz - Obsidian makes some really nice ones and clothique are nice too. Have you been to the cloth pad shop? Our daycare put ari's nappy in plastic bags too... but I keep forgetting to take our laundry bag:doh: new weeks resolution is to remember that for next week :-) hmm I never noticed the lack of cobwebs due to geckos - I'm too busy complaining about the amount of gecko poo all over my walls!!!! I would love a cleaning assistant but I'm too embarassed to let someone else clean, I'd have to clean before the cleaner came :-)

tra la laaaaaaaa heeheh Sarah :) I have it so she comes the week alternate to my RDO. And all I'll be doing is tidying before she comes, the first time she might stay a while longer to "sort it out". I just told her I'm not coping! And she said "I know how it is with babies, we'll sort it out together" which is just what you want when you don't have family nearby.

When does the nappy hunt start?

Well DD finally fits the NB Magicall in the legs but now the rise is too small :doh: Im glad I only bought 4. Considering selling them but havent really decided yet..... Meanwhile loving the IB & BumG.
We had a health centre visit on Thurs & DD put on 640g in 13 days so Im happy with that since she is BF only.
Go fluffy mail on Friday 6 IB snap ins (3 small & 3 med) still waiting on fluffy mail from BBH some BBB, some PUL covers & some cow print Baby legs, hoping they'll be there tomorrow, also hoping DF can pick it up for the post box coz I have no car this week coz the suspension's seized GRRRR!!!

Kaz - yay on the help with the cleaning, I could use some but DF helps when he can or when he gets sick of the mess LOL :D

Maz - Will you do the collage with a comp program or cut out pics? I want to do something like that for my mum for Chrissie being the first grandchild

Nelle - yay on having an empty laundry. Im yet to get into a nappy/clothes routine, I either run out of clothes or nappiescos Ive done 3 or 4 loads of one and not the other :wall:

I registered for the hunt last week - my very first one, how exciting!! All this talk about brands of mamapads had me looking at sites just now but they'll be in the hunt too so I'll wait until tomorrow lol.

My knitting is coming along - have moved from bibs to slippers... well, slipper, I finished one tonight & was wearing it while I started the other one... had one cold foot though... :lol: Have been looking at soaker patterns but they all still seem a bit too, uh, what is that word for when you attempts something you can't do... damnit I can't think of it....

*hugs* to Gudism, I bow down to all you lovelies with more than one munchkin, I remember what the Punk was like in her first 3 months & freak out about ever having to do that again, but next time with toddler/child in tow.... no time soon I can tell you!

hehehe Skittle, I'm the same with my laundry. Pip's running out of clean clothes, but has plenty of nappies! With me its more the folding than anything else, I used to do it on my bed cause it was nice and tall (hip height) but we've bought a new king size which is really really low for me (prolly "normal" height!) and I can't fold on that. Each time I clean off the dining table to fold on, DH puts stuff all over it ...

Got my fluffy mail on Saturday, 2 wetbags finally!!!! and the bad news is I changed Pip in the back of the car (on he parcel shelf of the tourer, which is I guess a hatchback) and left a very pooey nappy in the bag in the sun. Doh. Least its nece and sunny today, so the car will air out.

Doesnt look like I can make the baby expo meet up now :( Im so peeved. Jed's boss is having a back op the end of the month and HAS to have 4 weeks of work..that includes saturdays - Jed is sort of next in charge in the office so he has to work those saturdays aswell and there is no way I am taking 4 kids to the expo. Im so :( about it cause I really wanted to meet sue from IB (and of course buy up hehehe) but I jsut cant do it.

PP, I put a drop of nice smelling stuff in the wash (oil, perfume, whatever), to satisfy my need for nice smelling clothes - soap nuts don't have a smell.

i dont really mind the no smell thing. I have some eculaptus or lavender will this be ok... and how does it go with PUL????

I put 6 in a bag (i have a 5.5L does this sound enuf nelle?)

Sounds good to me. I LOVE eucalyptus, so I tend to add a drop of that. I can't imagine one or two drops hurting anything, it gets rinsed out by the end...

well they are washing... on the rinse now lol. Will see. I will add some ecuy to my next load (doing the sheets/cot linen for DD)... so that will be nice for her flu! lol

And washing all in warm water! thats what it said to do which is fine for PUL and nappies!

Each code is different I think Willow, but many people sign up for the hunt for the code - you don't have to hunt too hard! So just sign up yourself and you'll get the code that way. Whether you hunt or not is up to you. :)

The itti boos have their own heading now, and the fitteds are hidden under some title like "one offs" - well not that, but certainly not under FITTEDS anymore. I looked thru them and thought of you, did you get the geckos? the surfboards (i looked thru the cotton knit outer ones).

For anyone after OSFA fitted with front snaps, very nice ones on the Peep-O site, and some i noticed had cotton velour inners.

it's just like buying nappies, if you understand what the fabrics do, you'll get what you want. Esp important for the layer next to your skin. E.g do you want a stay dry layer like microfleece or a more breathable option like cotton or bamboo velour or a purely absorbent option like flannelette?

Gudie - without looking, i can tell you that nurture nappies sells those three brands, and no matter how much you buy, postage is capped at $5. So i think it might be do-able after all.

I got my Disana woolly overalls from teh swap I did, while I love them, there not as flash as I thought they would be, wouldn't spend the money on getting the new. They are full of seams. Every last bit is bit joined to anoutehr bit, even the cuffs on the legs!
Im going to attempt my own version once I finsh the longies for ISla. But I will do them int he round as a 1 piece. I figure longies with an extra long ribbing will work nicely.

Im up to the cuff on the first leg of the longies I am doing for Isla, hoping to finsih that & start the next leg tonight. So glad I live in the cooler mountains as by the time its finshed its goign to be too warm down the hill LOL

For BumG fans - do you like the AIO's as much as the pockets? Cos I don't really see that much of a difference between them performance wise - but just wondering what everyone else thinks... I have lots of newborn nappies, and lots of larges, but not that many medium sized nappies and just tossing up which way to go..
(Plus NN has bumG's AIO's in the spec corner at the moment for $19 each... soooo...)

*grumbles* DH has decided that donuts are evil, and took 2 I had left over to his work today, and tells me they're evil and he won't let them in the house. I have pointed out that his Shapes have more fat contents and he eats 3-4 packs of them a week, plus around 4 bottles of coke. And he complains about the ONCE I've brought home donuts this year! ARGHHHHHHHHHHH.

On the other hand, doing well on the GDNH, found all the P's and R's and halfway through the S's. Haven't bothered with the extremes yet though. Seems easier this time than the last one I did? The first site I looked in was a pads site (platinum panties) so bought a few from there to try.

I guess the evil thing about the GDNH is that you see all these sites, with all different styles of nappies, so you get carried away!!!!
