I LVOE my BBH Kat...they didnt fit Mateauz until he was 3 months old but then he was a small fry
Just wanted to say a quick thank you for all of the advice - it worked :cheer: We have been back on the clothies without leakage so I am one happy mummy who is now on the lookout for additions to the stash ;)

Gigi, last night E had a Cute Tooshies with the trifold and booster, plus a Motherease bamboo terry booster (3 layers I think) on the inside and a bamboo fleece (2 layers) booster on the outside. The outer was wet (but could have been a lot wetter) and the inside of the wool soaker was just barely damp. Without the outer booster the inside of the soaker was quite damp, but not enough to leak. Some nights he's weeier (yes, that's a real word) than others, it's hard to tell so I just like to make sure - lol.
Oh, I had my little heffalump weighed and measured today - he's just over 10 kg and 77 humungous centimetres tall. I think I'm going to have to get new nappies soon, none of my mediums will fit much longer. :( I want a little baby that doesn't grow out of stuff so quickly. He's growing up way too fast. He's just started standing up without support, he'll be walking before I know it.
WOHB: hopefully the last nature babycare sposie and sudocream, he's had a nasty red patch which is proving a little persistent. I want to put cloth back on his bum.
you know maz, i am thinking more & more you are right. Will see what they think tomorrow at my MW appointment but stomach is rock hard. Not contraction hard, just no room hard.
Coolies on the extra NB size covers. I wash all my PUL & even fleece covers after each use with Isla, her Wee holds on to them & they stink so need to be. I just can't see the 4 I have being enough for the baby.
I was trying to do some sewing earlier, had another stressful day (I have post inthe PM section) for those with out access to that bit, let me just say centerlink! Need I say more.
Anyway I made another attempt at an AIO, its ok, but Im not 100% happy with it still. Second NB attempt. But Im not using bamboo or hemp, just sherpa & microfibre. So no big loss if they are crap.
I was trying a PUL cover with FOE just now but FOE is so fiddly & the kids were just too quite so I got up to see what they were doing & they were in DH's tool box AGAIN! They are so sneaky, even Glenn was hiding the measuring tape under his shirt! Little rat bags. So I will sit with the FOE another time.
Isla seems over what ever was causing her to rash up with the Itti's. Dunno what was going on but it has happened again so all is sweet.
Oh well back to tiding the house for the 10th time today.
ROFL FJ be aware of the quiet kids! Isla knows what not to bite by the sounds of it ;)
Katones I got BBB's when C was 8 weeks but I'm sure they would have fitted him sooner than that. Depends on the build of bub but they fold down quite small which is what makes them so good. Caleb still wears those same ones!

We've just been in the babies room TRYING to get it sorted. DH was going off crook about the number of nappies I have but when he realised that they won't ALL fit straight away as there are NB, SML & MED sized and I separated them into piles, he calmed down somewhat. He also found some dot minky that I got from spotters but hid in the wardrobe a few months ago :redface: and I was mocked but I retaliated and reminded him about the three steering coloumns under the pergola :rolleyes:

Sam, I have flushable liners, but no matter what I do they always end up bunched up and the cream slathered all over the nappy, after strip washing last week my BumGs I don't want to do it again! And if I use microfleece on a stay-dry innered nappy like a Bum G I invariably get that 'double stay dry' effect where the wee just runs out the leg. So I use microfleece on my fitteds, but they are all on the line at the moment.
Hmmm, I wonder if I could use flannelette on the BumGs? Would that work? Might make me some flanny liners and see.
Jols, I don't know how we grew one so big, I really can't figure it out. Doesn't run in the family, that's for sure. But I really want to take Euan back to the silly MCHN who told me that I had a low supply and that he was failing to thrive and I should comp feed, and tell her that obviously I have a low supply, just look at him... Thank goodness that I didn't listen to her. (Sorry, that was a bit of a rant there...)

Just looking at my stash and thinking about how many more nappies I need to get Jett in to cloth FT. Just wanted to ask you opinion on where I should go from here. I like the trim fitting AIO/AI2 or pocket nappies. So I think sized nappies are a better option, and am loving the IB d'lish naps. I also don't mind Thirsties AIO as they also have the pocket where I can stuff an extra booster and they are sized really well. Any other suggestions? Also bearing in mind that he is a fairly heavy wetter (I think, I have very limited experience!! ;))
Ooooo Im so proud! We are officially gonna have a little clothie bum rugrat! I bought a MCN in the dreaded PeaPods (figured it was only $20 bucks so I may as well try) and I LOVE them!!! I can't wait for Friday to buy more. Aiden's gonna have a funky bum :lol:
Sooo out of curiousity how many are recommended? Cz I don't wanna get heaps for him to grow out of em in like a month. They say up to 9kgs and Aiden's 6kg but hes a long baby is that an issue?? Thanks

I googled 'flongies' 'cause I am onto my new "thing"... knitting has fallen by the wayside (suprise, suprise..!) & I'm sewing now. :rolleyes: I made a sleeping bag for the Punk - she's wearing it now & I am super proud even if it's a bit dodgey... it's lined & everything... that's what I wanted snaps for. ;) ...ah I digress!! SO WEIRD seeing Gigi asking for info, Raven asking what flongies are, even FJ, obviously pre-FJ snap in flongie making lol. The upside of finding that is that then I remembered that I had had this urge before & the wonderful Gigi had emailed me a tonne of info which I then searched my inbox & found (thanks again hun!!) so yay - will be making some tomorrow night or friday. :)
Maz - DP came home this evening & says "So how much is this baby expo going to cost?!" and when I said "Free." he was so dissappointed... he was in the chemist & picked up a bunch of free tickets lol, thought he was saving the day! :lol:
To the girls wanting to know how many MCN to get - IMO too many are never enough! Seriously though it depends on how often you do/want to wash for a start... I have over 35 & still run out but I am one lazy SOB. When things look dire I have about a gazillion terry flats to fall back on.

rhyb peapods aren't all that bad, just there are better about and I'd rather my stash wasn't made out of too many of them. We did have a time where we had 6 but as Caleb grew out of them I chose to replace them with others that worked better for us. Work out how many you need by figuring out how many nappy changes you'd do which would be 6-8 as cloth needs changing more often then sposies. Doubt they would last the night even with boosting though so you may need to consider other options there.
TBH they did work for a bit or I wouldn't have gone back for more. I suggest you get a few and find out what you think before buying too many of the same. I would give that advice about most nappies too, not just peapods ;)

So now bilbs is older and i don't have so many questions (but still some!), i can return the favour "pay it forward" etc. That's what all us oldtimers are doing! I give the extra oldtimers a rest in typing out the same old same old, cos they took the time to type it all out for me when i needed it.

Suse - i meant to tell you, when we started using FLUSHABLE liners, we were using them on their lonesomes - and got the bunching you describe. Ever since we've been using the combination of flannellette liner AND flushable liner on top, the bunching has all but disappeared! So, one more thing to try, hope you have success with it like we have. i found this out by pure accident, but hell, if it works, why not?

there are also ozclothnappy meetups in various states, i know the Perth one seems to be very active. If you're on the ozclothnappies mailing list, you'll get to hear about them.
there is also a database of IN REAL LIFE MCN Shops to browse thru (on ozclothnappies), click on your state and see where they are.
Look up modernclothnappies for information on REUSABLE NAPPY WEEK coming up in october. Click on your state and events to see what is planned near you.
If NOTHING is near you, when you go to various MCN sites, always check if they have RETAILERS or CONSULTANTS links on their site.

I am on a paraben-free crusade right now (tossing out any products that have parabens in the ingredients) and i was very pleased to discover that the Nature babycare wipes we use when out, do NOT have parabens in them. Yeh!
(Parabens are a preservative i have found in my foundation, moisturiser, deodorant, sunscreen, etc etc - all i have tossed in last week, slowly working out how to replace them with paraben free products.
i found paraben-free baby sunscreen at nurture nappies - yeh
Parabens can produce miscarriages, do produce skin irritations with many people!! and they are put in SKIN products!!!!)
Didn't need to toss my hair products, cos already using the Moo Goo natural stuff.

Mel, you should be safe, parabens aren't found under rocks. :P: They are not nice at all... SLS (sodium laureth sulfate) is another one. If you google Akin skincare or the purist company there's some really good info about what is bad and why.

Well we tried something a little different last night with the nappy situation (not that we have had leak problems in a month or 2). We used a BBB with only 1 extra 3 layer bamboo insert (with the 2 that are already in there). and then had a large 3 layer microfibre with an outer of fleece on the outside (it was big enough to wrap the whole rise) between nappy and longies.
And that worked too!... yay!
I fixed that BG elastic and it has popped again.. imustnt have sewed it properly... now if only i had a good hour to sew all the things i need to before this bub arrives...
Sorted through all my nappies - ready for when #2 arrives,,,, wasnt going to take any sposies / mcn to the hospital... surely they will have flats? perhaps i should ask... might just take some snappis along ...

bought some micro-terry towelling, flannelette (white& blue) elastic, MORE cotton, and i have no idea why.. but just couldn't help myself... BLUE DOT MINKY!!!! (now what am i going to do with it is another question....

All the materials are in the wash as we speak... then i shall plan my attack!!!
