I got nurture nappies ones online. Not that cheap, but i cut them in half. (a tip from Sammi ;) )So i get twice as many for the price.
Ok, this is a dumb question to ask you lot but anyway....
Thinking I need a few more nappies after all - back at work 2 days a week and really want DS in cloth at MILs but finding it a bit tricky with the washing etc. Our everyday stash is:
8 or 10 BumGs, can't remember
2 d'lish
2 baby kangas
I also have a few fitteds but am using these at night and pockets/AIOs are just easier to send to MILs.
We generally have 2 days worth of nappies before we run out and have to wash again. So for example if I don't wash on a wednesday, don't get time on a thurs after work then by fri we're outta nappies and I really want to avoid sposies while he's at MILs.
Thinking of getting 2 or 3 more d'lish what do you think?? He'll is very very likely our last bub (:() so not sure if I should be buying more when they aren't going to get all that much use...maybe I should just make sure I wash on a wednesday...but I do have a few friends now who use cloth, could always sell them on...
OK, you've convinced me!! LOL!
I should also pull my finger out and sell all the nappies and covers he's grown out of on BFB...been meaning to do that for months...
Willow he is 11 months so I reccon you'd get the use out of them if you get larges. You'd have to buy sposies for the day you wash so that could add up to more if he doesn't TT till he's 2 1/2 or so.
You could always get some off B4B or ebay. They do pop up from time to time.
Sam he's in larges already, wouldn't even consider medium for him.
Will have a good look at our stash over the weekend and then decide I think.
oooohhhh i just got fluffy mail :D am sooo in love with the royal blue itti and the Jade :) am now waiting on the midnight and a chocolate to arrive :D
Kat - im gonna tease ya babe...guess who's helping IB at the Melbourne expo on sunday ;)
Willow - Id do what Sammi says to babe...go to B4B and get some second hand nappies
ahhhhh Vy is crying again!! dame it!
Maz, make sure you pocket me some freebys ;)
awww Maz NO fair... *stamps my feet
i only want.... a RED, YELLOW & IVORY then thats all the colours (except for the girly colours which isn't happening)
need to save some more $$$$$
Aw wow Maz, yay for you....! Uh, I mean.... whoever do you mean? ;)
That's a great idea Ange/Sammi about cutting the liners in half... I think I need to get some flushable liners too.
i have spied some flushable liners and at what i think is a good price for a 50 pack.... hmmmm do i buy them???
I bought some liners from big w yesterday, not flushable but they are helping heaps, they look like chux cloths LOL, Big enought cut in half so I get double my moneys worth.
I took ISla to the GP yesterday as she has runny gooy eyes. While I was there I showed her the nappy rash spot. she said to get some fungle cream witht he steriod in it.
I went to get it but I didn't have enough cash on me so put it back. Glad now as I have been lathering it up in pawpaw ointment when she has a nappy on & its healing. Its looking heaps better today. Sot hat teamed with using the potty while at home its on the mend finally.
She is good with the potty. She knows whats it for etc. But I still need to take her to sit. So its still me reading her signs of needing, which she is pretty obvious with. She walks around with nothingbut a tshirt on with her legs sort of crossed. Put her on the potty & she wees. She has taken her self a few times & has peed on the floor twice. Oh & once outside when I put her int he boys undies so I could grab the washing with her outside & know she wouldn't get dirty up her wee wee, And she peed in them LOL.
I think she thinks anything on that area means she can just wee. I dare say she will TT well. But will proabbly have a set back once the baby comes as its harder to watch her. But having floor boards might help this time.
Im in nesting mode, last night I pulled the door of the cupboard & pulled out the change table & put the draws in its place. Then I put the door back on, then took it off again & put things back the way they were LOL.
I just sorted out all the little clothes & put them under the change table & now I am trying to work out the best set up for the nappies. I need more draws LOL.
i have been using no flushables when out and about. Cheapo ones that i just throw in the bins at the shops (after dicarding the poo in the loo).. and fleece at home.
Still not sure to get the flushables yet.
Fj - hard to sort the nappies huh!
I have all my prefolds in a nappy stacker hanign under the shelf where the nappies are
then have the mcns in sperate piles according the size.
And covers on the bench.
trying to make it simple for DH - i confused him the other day when i found a size SML pul on dd over her BBB... lol he grabed the wrong pile
ill put up a photo in a sec to show
its a lack of space thats my problem.
I need to make a nappy stacker for the prefolds. Might try something for the rest too.
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ry.php?cat=913
ok here you go FJ. It may seem really messy but i know what i am doing lol!
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ry.php?cat=913
I have only my OSFM and smalls out (all mediums are in stored boxes in the cupboards of #2's room).
I guess i have the nappies readily at hand to the left for DD on the change table, and nappy stacker with prefolds to the right. Depending on which bub i will be changing at the time.
I have the things i dont use as frequently (loniges, shorties, boosters, night nappies etc) under the change table, and covers on the shelf just behind me - i just bring 1 of each size to the row on the change table for each day when i need them for the fitteds/prefolds.
Lucky we have 2 bathrooms as accessing the bath is not an option with my set up ! haha. but i wanted everything in there so i have 1 spot to change both babies (rather than in their rooms).
Ummm once I tidy the room I am using for nappy stuff I will post a pic too.
See the thing is I just change onthe floor, couch etc atm, I don;t even use the change table.
FJ, Ikea and Bunnings have some great stackable crates that have a way to open them while they are still stacked. The Ikea ones are pearlised white, and the Bunnings ones are multicoloured. Cant remember the Ikea price but the Bunnings price was $19.95 each.
Still havent found my nappy buckets or soakers. They might be in the shed or one of the boxes that is still packed.
WOEB, Blue Liquorice allsort Cushie Tushies Couture
WOSB, Purple undies.
FJ - we only got the change table about 8 weeks ago. I never used one either but my back was getting so sore bending over with DD that we got this huge mumma of a table (home made job) that fits everything. lol It is good though cause i have a greater chance of Ashley keeping still on it than on the floor.. she just wants to run off if i change anywhere else.
Will probably still change on our bed #2 over night etc - cause too lazy to walk out of the room hehe but at least all the chaos is in one spot now!. Ashley is in a baby bath in the shower cubicle too still. Saves h20 (as we have restrictions up here) and it is in a stand so saves me bending over the bath.
When she wants to use the bath.. we will then have to re evaluate the set up lol!
cant wait to use the cute little ittis and bubblebubs small mcns i have.. they are soooo tiny!!!
Did you decide if you will take mcn or prefolds to hossy?
Ali - they have to be somewhere! dont you hate moving and the unpacking things! Just make sure no box is missing as i know when we moved to brissy a few months ago we actually had a box of someone elses stuff!!! i was shocked...
Don't mind me...just answered my own question...
WIllow- nope they dont, in winter i did use longies jic but never needed them
so anyway been kinda busy here so been MIA
Miss MJ has been sick... she had a UTI, so stinky and now on Anti Biotics..
now we have dirreah...
can some one remind me what we do for anti b poohs?
Ok here is what I have come up with so far.
Nappys
Change table set up
as you can see the change table is actually in my cupboard, it fits just nicely but I want to (need to) put a little light in there as the light from the room is behind me & I cast a shadow (big arse & all) so I know it will be a pain in the butt, also if I have a little light in there I wont need the main light at night.
I also have the cot on the opposite wall which wont get used much at first, I might use it for day sleeps as stupidly this room has a fan in it & its closer to the main part of the house then my room which actually joins this room, its behind the curtain & so is the mess LOL.
I need another something to put Isla's covers in. At the moment they are just in a enviro bag hanging on the cot, which I guess is fine.
I will also have a whirl at making a nappy stacker of some sort to hang in the cupboard at the end of the change table (above it) near the mobile thingy. Might even try putting a little shelf in above the change table to put wipes etc on. But we'll see how I go.
So that all works I guess.
all of this bubs nappies are in a spare drawer in the nursery... should i put them under the change table?? i have the nappy stacker hung on the side of the change table, full of flanny flats.
I would have them close enough that you can grab them with bub on table still. they tend too wee , poo just as you put a fresh one under them LOL, want to be able to grab another easily.
will change them now and take piccies and show you how we have the nursery....
ooooo guess what.. i have a chocolate & midnight itti to pick up :D
yep agree - have them close! so you don thave to leave bubs on the table katones!
FJ your set up is pretty good with the little baskets! i like it! :)
I have to have mine in piles so i remember to rotate or i would have some at the bottom never to be found or used! hehe
And love the baby on the table.. in the cupboard.. is that so if the baby is crying too loud you can shut the door! ? Well at least it is a tidy way to hide things... i love to have a non cluttered feel (even if it is cluttered behind closed doors!
As for the nappy stacker! they are very easy. I whipped one up for my sister!!! ill see if i can send you the pattern i did up...
hang on
hey has anyone seen the new "Baby Bling" range of Wildchild daydreamers? mmmmmmmm I like the spider!
 i just conned mum into buying the spider this am FJ. How cool is it?!
ok i have just moved them to under the change table... not all of them...
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...8&ppuser=12839
and here are all of my 'precious' fluffies :heartbeat:
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...0&ppuser=12839
and our stacker full of flanny flats...
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...2&ppuser=12839
Wow all these pics of nappy storage.. no need to post mine - its pretty boring. i've moved them from the kids rooms in their cupboards to an old dresser in the loungeroom. got sick of running to the bedroom for a nappy when we change them in the loungeroom on the floor all the time!!!
Actually thinking of selling my change table cos I just don't use it..
the only reason we have a change table this time round was because it came with the cot... with my last to kidlets.. i just used the couch/floor or bed...
Maz i am SOOO jealous!! you getting to work with all those d'lish Ittis :)
Thats it...last chanch girls to get in on the nappy swap...Im going to set everyone up this weekend!!!!!
Vy's butt is all reddy and crinkly like a 100 year old womans face atm. She's been in knickers most of the day not a nappy and it looks horrible. And on the lines of having a TT atm...ive noticed it washing wise. I can get away with leaving the nappies for 3 days now..but OMG I have so many knickers to washing stead
Those WC nappies are nioce....I can imagine the work thats gone into them...I use to do something along the same lines when I did my customs last year..the ones with the diamontes and oh my christmas ones. LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the spider one..its looks fantastic and I wished VY was still in nappies when I saw the elephant one...that is friggen awssome...hmm actually I know someone I could buy one of those elephant ones for
WOVB - rawhide
WOMB - BBH and zebra cover
Maz - I'm in! Have PM-ed you. I did this first, then told DH - but he was cool with it! First thing he said was "did you say we'd have more Blueberries?". He loves those. Reckon we'll buy another 4 pack!
Oh - and I got fluffy mail today! Got my 3 itti bitti's! Love the rockmelon one! Soooo lush! :p
Right - now to figure out where we got the Blueberry 4 pack from and order another one... gonna get the sapphire one this time ;)
FJ - we keep our cloth wipes in the bathroom, in a plastic verical skinny tub, cos when it's change time, first thing we do is go to the bathroom to wet the flannel ANYWAY, so figured, might as well keep them in that room. (then take now wet cloth wipe to nursery to change bilby on the changetable. i change her at ground level when we're out at a park, but at home, i save my back and use the c/table. bilbs is such a squirmer, i think if i changed her on the floor (thin lino with horrible concrete) she'd
1. be horribly cold and it's so hard
2. run away from me!
*cough* guess which bilby is this fortnight's cover baby for the dragonflymagik home page??? (there is no AU on the end of the url - website address). Yes, proud mamma alert here folks.
the Reusable Nappy Week site on Facebook has a really good "MCN and childcare article".
Alioops - is TT-ing Sarah proving easier in Townsville? Do you go to the beach all the time? Hope your missing stuff turns up soon.
Ness - sorry to hear of the illness in your house right now. I read the gastro bug lives in the nappies for up to a fortnight after the child is well again. Have you got much MCN that is NOT elasticated and involving PUL (e.g flats and prefolds). Cos you can wash flats and prefolds, contours, boosters etc at 90 degrees, to kill the gastro bugs, whereas you can't do 90 degree washes to most MCN, cos the 90 degrees would wreck your elastic, PUL etc.
Loopy fabrics. eg. cotton terry, bamboo terry are esp reccomended, to soak up the runny business.
MAZ - poor Vy's bottom. weird that it's still happening when she is in knickers - are her knickers cotton?
TOday Tonight had this article on tonight, about FORMALDEHYDE (sp?) in bras - which leave chemical burns on skin - (my maternity bras make me itch, so i was very interested) - and at the end, they showed a consumer watchdog type talking about a previous TT story from last year, about clothing made in China, ALSO with FORMALDEHYDE in the fabric. i suddenly thought about all the cheap clothing i have for bilbs, that is made in China (like Cotton on shirts). And clothes i have, that make me itch. Clothing and bras made in China, seem to be everywhere, not much else to choose from. What else are you meant to do? I wash EVERYTHING before we wear it.
when you buy clothing, if you're lucky it tells you on th elabel which fabric it's made out of. but you certainly dont' get told "has been treated with formaldyhyde". I thought that was what dead bodies get stored in! (forensic scientist TV shows i have to thank for that!!).
WOTBB: Kester Kovers AIO
Gigi- its not gastro she has, she is anti biotics from having a UTI, i have a heap of fleece liners so have brought them out. by the way did you get my email? i sent it via my internode to your internode? BTW gorgeous pic...
can someone please Pm this link to the spider nappies, have tried to look, but must be in the wrong place
GiGi, Im still using sposie wipes, but will try & get in the swing of using cloth with the baby.
I find sposies wipes so useful for a number of non nappy related things & whenI tried doing with out it drove me insane LOL.
On the FORMALDEHYDE thing, there is the possiblity that this is also used in the manufacturing of Bamboo fleece. BF is made 2 ways, the most common being chemical processing. the other mechenical. China is the only place that makes BF & with their lack of standards etc they don't have to tell anyone whats used in the making of anything including BF.
The mechincal way is mostly used for Linen's etc made from Bamboo.
So who knows whats against our babys bums, even when in cloth.
I thought the formaldehyde washes out easily not leaving residue. One of the reasons why it's advised to wash clothes first before wearing.
Gee thats a scary thought FJ!!!!
I think someone here is getting ready for TTing... he grabbed his bum today and said poo poo... and I checked his nappy - no poo - then 5 minutes later - was full of poo.... so I think he's "getting it" with relation to the sensation of having to poo... DAMN!!! What about all those lovely nappies... :( Miss M won't be in them for AGES - she's only 5.18kg!!!!
Im not sure sammi, it probably does. It was asked of me what I knew about it & i looked into it & couldn't find much on it all. Just that it may be used & no one knows to what extent.
Looks like we have TT going on all round. Isla has clear signs of needing to wee, she grabs her self & walks sort of with her legs crossed LOL. She needs prompting to go sit on the potty but when I see her do that she always does a wee. Yesterday Evan called & said she wee'd in the toy room. I went to go clean it up & couldn't find anything but a few drops of wet on the train tracks LOL. So I took her to the potty & she did a big wee. She must have felt it & was trying to hold on.
That's very clever of Isla ;)
I think most of the problems with the formaldehyde come when stuff isn't washed prior to wearing... most of the stuff I get for Pip now is organic cotton from the UK where the regulations are a lot tighter. Still scary stuff though. eeeeeee
GOD I HATE THIS HOUSE. everything is temporary - 3 years temporary. Pip was just chewing the CAT5 cable for my work puter - I have to use it on the dining table cause he has no bedroom and is sleeping in the study.
WoHB - BBH with imsevimse cover.
Kaz that is frustrating isn't it when its not permanent so why change it now.... urgh
Jovie was showing signs of interest in TT but has totally lost it all now  what changed was we bought her a potty. Now its a game & then she gets up, walks away.... and wee's
