Thanks Mel and FJ..Yeh, I think similar to what you said FJ. This nappy is a snoozywun so it's a good nap.
Plus, on buy for baby do you have to sell regularly or can you just do a one off sale? I'm a bit confused re- account types..
Thanks guys

luckily, the only trainer on my list that uses minky, was the Blueberry.
so note to Christy, IGNORE THE BLUEBERRY REF!
the ref to the cowprint minky trainers was roolly and truelly aimed at you Maz!!
Raven, i have seen the Simmons paw paw salve online at ecobabe
THat Lupi Lu seat looks Da Bomb, i'm dying to know how much cheaper it wsa at a baby expo. i found it on a site called The Product STore, plus a video demo on youtube. Looks like it would stop little people like Vy from missing! poor little love.
Katones - were you asking about nb sized pockets? i had a bub with skinny legs at that stage. we had success with fleece pockets but not PUL pockets, at that age. So i would suggest, when you have your trial run, be at home, not out. Have bubs lying on the "nappy free time" mat, so if there is leakage, you can just chuck the mat in the washer.
Hope you get some shuteye soon hon, sleep deprivation - WE know why it's such an effective form of torture don't we?
Dh's car is in the upholhestor's (sp???) lockup over the weekend. Hopefully next time we see it, it will have new back seat, new passenger front seat and new back windscreen. i am still worried that they won't get all the little bits of glass - YK - bilby travels in that car and i can't help thinking about that. silly to obsess i'm sure.
i'm worried, in the haste to get it all done, teh upholestry will get done first THEN the back window will be smashed out, putting fresh glass all over the NEW seats, ready for the window to be done. If i knew the order it was being done in, i would relax. DH wants the car back ASAP cos of the drive to get to work.
KAZBAH - what do you mean by a shower job? does that mean a nappy cleanup that CAN"T be fixed with a few facewashers?
thanks for all your commiserations on the vandalism, i have no idea who actually did it, so i can't blame "young kids" or "druggies" or anyone, cos i didn't see who did it. We have fifty year old neighbours who CONSTANTLY play really loud DOUFF DOUFF music, it's taught me not to generalise about which age groups are the most painful neighbours!!! Everyone i know assumes it will be young kids and they look real shocked when i tell them how old the offending neighbours are!
Beatrix - don't worry about the sposies, your MCN will be waiting for when life settles down somewhat.
when does teething stop? is it worth buying a teething necklace for a two year old, or is it mainly over for them at that age? i wish i had bought one when bilby was a nb. thought of it and never got around to it.
Maz - Kathryn Shaw on ozebaby has bf-ing jewerelly, maybe she might stock teethign jewerelly also. The stuff on DDU looks nice.
ALIOOPS - that's good that Em is healing well.
MELBEL - i love your ideas for Maz's Cowprint World! Just put cowprint covers on EVERYTHING!!! it's a maz, maz, world ha ha.
i went to a Steiner school Spring Fair today. At one kids wear stall, there were knitted nappy covers. ANother stall was for Eco-tots, a new locally made nappy and i talked with the person running it, who designed and makes the nappies. She was so relieved to talk to someone who was already using MCN i think. I can see her dilemma, making the nappies here, paying Aust wages, her nappies are more expensive that Chinese made nappies. Her product looked well made/thought out and she had one on a Barn Doll (toddler sized dolls) which was effective. I don't think it would be easy to be a WAHM.
Lil P - OSFA nappies - some bubs don't fit them at the start (newborns), some bub s don't fit them at the end of the range (nearer TT-ing stage). I think the term "one size fits most" is a more accurate way of describing it.
Greenkids are sold as OSFA for sure.
the FUNTIMES (prints) are reccomended for day time use only (shorter wears).
have you stripwashed it? (in case it has a build up of wash detergent, or petroleum based nappy rash cream).
Put it in the drier on hot to reseal the PUL?
how is the fit around the legs? how is the rise?
WHERE exactly does it leak?
WOTBB: night nappy wot dh put on her, his fave the KK AIO, i fell asleep after our day out at the fair, fed her to sleep mainly asleep myself.
Morning!
Gigi - yeps, facewashers weren't going to do the trick, it was horrid. Really I think that putting him over the loo and LSing him would have worked! (think ... clay consistency...)
Would you believe he slept until 8:30am? 4:30pm until 8:30am. Wow . And the nappy/soaker lasted.
Lee - what size/colour/condition? Have you tried the classifieds here?
WoHB - BBB and soaker
Hey Kazbah! I can't do the classifieds here because I'm not a PM. It's a medium (black fleece or 'charcoal', red sherpa). It's in very good nic I would say, DD has probably only worn it less then 10 times. But I do find find that with washes it doesn't take sherpa long to look a bit daggy. Is Buy 4 Baby easy to use do you know? I'm off to investigate it more!
Gigi!! will give it a go tomorrow... it was a peapods nappy i was asking about.. and yep we do have fairly skinny chicken legs....
Kaz - is there an emoticon for a green eyed monster. That's a fantastic sleep. Euan slept from 11:30 till 1:15, then took nearly two hours to get back to sleep, then woke again at 7:00. I am shattered. Dunno why either, maybe more teeth are on the way (Noooooooo).
Lee - I've only been B4Bing for a very short time, but have noticed that you can get a better price on harder to get items like WAHM stuff. Although I saw a BP (shell/cover only) that was up to $20 + postage the other day, which is just stoopid considering how much they cost new.
Gigi - I'd be a bit worried too about glass in the car, you're not being silly or obsessive at all. If they do the seats before the window, they'll cover everything with plastic sheeting first though.
Oh bugger, I've been fakking him to sleep for the last hour, put him down and he's looked up at me with big blue cheeky bloody wide awake eyes. It's gonna be one of those days, I can tell.
WOHB: BP
well we are in the trial & error process....
we have a BBH magicall(small) on Jacks butt... so we shall see how this goes... it is a good fit so hopefully no leaks :D
WOJB ~ BBH magicall
Gigi I paid $80 for it. I think they had them for $89 but as it was the last day we got a bit more off.
Maz that crow is about again hey...?
Gee Kaz what a huge sleep! Were you tempted to give him a prod?
Lee I think sometimes B4B is a bit hit and miss. Things will always sell I think but I guess you have to be prepared to not make much. I have never expected to get back more than half of what I paid for them.
I just did my first load of mcn's and the line looks so lovely :) !!
we are about to have a bath & the magicall didn't leak!!!!! i actually quite like them:D nice compact nappy:D
WOJB ~ purple BBH magicall
OMG - we have a blistering butt here for the first time :(
Poor bugger - doesn't seem to be causing him pain though - I'm loading him up with moo goo - hopefully it works!!!
Damn those 2 year old molars - I HATE YOU!!!!
afternoon ladies.
A bit grumpy here - washed one of my mama liners with the MCN and the colour (fuscia) ran! I"ve washed this one several times. Lucky its only got the stuffing and not the actual outers (my mango d/lish was in there!) so I can live with that. *sighs*
brb, phone
Kat, I like our magicall too, but I dont like that it takes longer to dry than our other nappies. I would like to be able to take the microfibre bit out too.
Not much happening her nappy wise ATM, they are back to full time use, but that's about it.
WOEB: Bright blue dot minkee CT with bamboo foldup and soaker
WOSB: Pink liqourice allsort CT with bamboo foldup and soaker
Gigi - thanks for the info on the GK nappy. I have never done a strip wash so perhaps it is time. That is the one where you use dish detergent (a tiny bit) and wash (HOT) until the water runs clear yes??
I would be terrified to put any of my nappies (aside from prefolds and terry flats) in the dryer!! How long would I leave it in there?
I forget who is thinking that perhaps I'm pregnant - sadly I'm not - but my window of opportunity starts today and ends the day after I leave for the states, so needless to say DH and I will be taking full advantage of the next 11 days or however long it is until we go.
The longest DH and I have been away from each other since our wedding 8+ years ago was the five days I was in hospital when DS was born so 24 days apart is going to be INTERESTING to say the least.
Not sure how DS is going to go either. One minute he wants to spend all his time with daddy and the next minute he is being crazy and rude and refuses to speak to him entirely. I'm hoping this is a phase that passes soon.
Gigi: You mentioned teething and asked how long it lasts??? It continues until they have all their teeth up to the 2 year molars. So count her teeth and if she has 20 then she is done. If she doesn't have 20 then you have some more teething to deal with. James is thankfully and blissfully done with teething now until he starts losing teeth! I'm so glad because EVERY tooth was a NIGHTMARE!
I think that is all for now. We had our 3rd annual family reunion today and it was fun! James was very tired though so he is in bed and asleep now and I hope he stays that way for a long time.
Suse: I'm with you on the lack of sleep thing. James was doing HEAPS better and sleeping 6-10 hours straight but now he is reverting to old habits and waking every 2-3 hours! I'm having insomnia issues (probably because of the impending trip) so I'm pretty wrecked!! I hope you get some more sleep soon.
WOHB: lizard nappylicious with bamboo trifold booster and an Indisposables cover over the top - my way of making a couple of my daytime nappies into night nappies!
ohhhh I wonder if Jovie's finished teething then.... will have to count them in the morning. A serious tickle session with get her to open her mouth!
baaaaack ...
hoping the dye will wash out of the nappies :(
WoHB - bubblebums and GK fleece as a cover.
I hope you do too hon. Isn't it the worst though when they go back to waking heaps after a nice little stretch of sleeping well (just when you've got used to the concept of not having to hold your eyelids open with matchsticks)?
Speaking of, we are just rocking him to sleep now, so hopefully tonight will be better than last, although the way he's been today I'm not holding much hope. So tired...
But we have had success on one front - he did not scream, cry, or thrash about like a maniac during one change today. He still tried to escape a couple of times, but that was minor compared to what we've had before.
WOHB: FJ minky night special with grandma knitted soaker.
Suse, as i read about Euan's crocodile rolls, i realise we ARE doing all those distraction tricks too! it's a fight to get bilbs to sit, or lie down. after i have the nappy off her, i give her nappy free time on the changetable, use the time to put away her clothes/MCN that are on the single bed (my sorting area). Have a shoebox of little toys, little books, anythign to entertain her. Now she is starting to choose the next nappy she wants on, will sit there holding said nappy against her cheek, saying "Oooahhh" in a very animated way. this gal lurves minky!
i find getting a nappy on her, while she standing up, to be an absolute deal breaker. i always end up having to do it again to get the right fit (so we don't have leaks).
Lil P - yes, the strip wash is the GENTLE dishwasher liquid trick, then rinse until NO MORE BUBBLES. for just a few items, i would handwash.
in the drier to re-seal PUL? i would GUESS ten minutes, maybe read the Happy Heiny site, that explains this sort of thing in great depth. (they make PUL pockets too).
i frequently tumble dry fitted MCN, but only for a few minutes. it makes the pile of many fabrics fluff up. but PUL/fleece ocvers, PUL/fleece pockets dry so fast by themselves, no reason to tumble dry them, unless on the rare occasion you wanna reseal the PUL.
WOTBB: wotevah night nappy dh put on her while Aust Idol was on. No-one comes between me and my Idol fix!!! I breastfeed during Idol but i'm not leaving the room!!!
RAVEN - the Lupi Lu is well over the tonne mark online (and that's before postage). $80 was tres excellent!! good on you. If you see it anywhere for similar price, please let me know.
Oh and for you zebra minky fans, i saw a lovely zebra nappy on the daddledoo site, at wahmnaps. Christy, you didn't read this, it was MINKY, so look away NOW!!!
KAZBAH - i think WAHM made mama pads, are often like WAHM woollies. It's often a hand dye colour, and most things you buy in life, you know how it says on the label "wash separately first wash" or "wash with similiar colours first wash" - well i reckon that applies esp to mama pads and woollies. i bought one purple velour mama pad and i STILL have to wash it separately - the dye did not set properly.
Cotton velour, the WAHM's can buy as is, but with bamboo velour, many buy it in natural and hand dye it themselves, often for spunky effects.
if you want to avoid having this happen, stick to cotton velour or microfleece toppers, or natural bamboo velour colour.
