Welcome back Sammi! Ruby's so gorgeous! more pics please... good on you for pestering the midwives at the hospital.
maz - luv ya work! thanks so much for the extra goodies too. That's so sweet! wish you were coming on Sunday so I could thank you in person.
We had six-month vaccinations today. Poor DS is so not happy now. Everything's been all over the shop this week with no sleep and screaming at ridiculous hours of the night and I have some weird sore throat thing that's making me sound like Sybil Fawlty... but fluffy mail makes it all ok!
WOHB: pocket change.
Just a real quicky to let you all know I'm still out there... wow I am knackered. Birthday parties sure take it out of a person...
Just wanted to say WELCOME HOME SAM!!! Ruby is just exquisitely lovely, and I'm sure you'll get used to the girly bits soon. I still get a surprise when I see girl babies getting changed - like, wow, they don't have a penis (well duh...).
Oh, Euan's horrendously red butt cleared up for his birthday, so he spent the day in cloth. Yay. As his party was sort of jungle-ish (he had the cutest little shorts and singlet with elephants on them), so he also wore cheetah print and zebra print minky. And yep, the gayest baby in the village comments came out just once or twice.
I think that the teething necklace is working though, because although he's been cranky and clingy, he's been sleeping heaps better and we've only had to give him teething gel twice since he's been wearing it (and no panadol or nurafen).
And bonus, he's fine with moo-goo. I've been slathering him in it for days now and he's got a yummy soft milk and honey butt. Mmmm.
I promise I will come back and say hi to everyone personally soon-ish - E has his 12 month vaccinations tomorrow so he may be sleepy baby (here's hoping), or he may be grumpy clingy baby. Could go either way really.
WOHB: FJ night special and wool shorties.
DId the gayest baby in the village go Raaaaaaaaah (like a tiger) at the people who made the comments LOL? i bet he looked wonderful and they were all just JEALOUS!
yep, birthday parties are EXHAUSTING to organise, prep, carry out, clean up after etc - i really felt it the week afterwards - and ours was so little in comparision to what other people do.
glad you survived Suse!! are the rellies still with you? or gone home? Do they stay with you or in local tourist accommodation?
T - good on you for handsewing wipes, i did a little of that when nesting, no access to machine at that stage, it felt good to be doing SOMETHING for the baby.
Kazbah - i'm loving your av with the chookerdoo in it.
Sammi - great to have you back, just great to have you back. Hope you are on the mend hon.
wotbb: same old same old, wotevah night combo dh put on bilby. If i leave and it's then always ME putting on her night nappy, you'll never know, cos i doubt i'll have a computer if on my own, all this computery stuff belongs to dh. i leave him, i leave cyberspace too. i think i would miss you girls more than i would miss him. (and i'm not joking - you girls have been more honest, supportive and trustworthy than he has been to me).
Gigi, You would be surprised at how well you & bilby would do on your own. If you are really that miserable in your current situation you need to make some changes. Don't be scared to step out & seek support from those around you. You will be just fine financially as a single mum. DH would still need to support Bilby, centerlink will support you. So many women are doing it just fine on their own. You can too.
I wont pretend to know how hard it would be to take that step & leave but you really sound like you need to make some major changes so you can be happy. I always like to point out this...
When Bilby is an adult the chances are that she wont thank you for staying with DH. BUT she will thank you if you don't & She & DH can have a loving relationship outside of the stress of you two remaining together. I don't know if that came out right.. Basically Im trying to say that she has more chance of a happy childhood etc if BOTH parents are happy. If that means you leave then thats what you should do. No matter how hard you try to hide or keep the fighting etc away from her she will still pick up on it & know things aren't right. If you & DH are always stressed & unhappy then Bilby will be feeling some level of this also.
Just remember we are all here for you & if you do leave, Im sure you will get on your feet & a PC will be easily had.
Gigi- hun FJ is right.. Hun look at me i manage and i have 3 children. I am here if you ever want to take that stand and can help you anyway i know how.
There are serivices in adelaide to help you get on your feet and well i will come see you daily for as long as you need so you can get your net fix
oh and BTW >.... NOTHING, and i mean NOTHING is your DH.. it your both of yours!!! so you are entitled to 50% of all house hold possesions possibly more as you will take care of bilby.
AFM sorry been MIA having real issues myself with dealing that my marriage is over, stupid I know as i dont want him but i am missing what i had dreamed for us to be...
i did though get a gorgeous nappy fix last week, my xmas nappy for Mj and omg it is stunning, will be saving it once its dry for mine and gigi's photo shoot on tuesday..
I hope all you ladies are wll, sorry for no personals i promise to try and keep up now
xxxx
I am still stalking this thread just waiting to join in
I just wanted to say gigi - when I left my ex dd was 3. And you know, life was SO MUCH easier than the day to day stress of being with someone who I knew I shouldnt have been with. FJ's and Beatrix's posts above are spot on. 50/50 doesnt always work (ie you cant cut a fridge in half!!) but things work out, they really really do........ I left under the worst of financial circumstances and am happy to share if you wanna PM me. Its easy to put together a pc, if you were in sydney we could get you on the net with stuff that DH has lying around!! OR you can always grab a lil laptop for under $500 these days.....
Anyway, the point of me coming in here - have any of you guys seen the Xmas nappy being offered by panda baby? ITs SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!!
Gigi - :yeahthat: You and Bilby can come live in my bungalow. It's got a hills hoist outside the window with cloth nappies hanging in the sunshine... almost enough room for a real horse, not just a clothes horse!
Gigi - be strong babe...its hard enough getting through day to day stuff let alone have someone who drags you down. Fiona is absolutely right! YOU DONT NEED IT!!!! BILIBY DOESNT NEED IT!!!! Get on the blower to Ness....as she said she'll be there for you babe and a computer...you can always rent one from somewere. We are always here for you woman! never for get that!
Sammi - im so glad that your back home and taht the devine Miss Ruby is doing so well. I cant wait to have a nussle :)
Nana - happy that fluffy got to you..cant even remember what was in there lol.
Suse - im gonna have to rack your brains soon for mateauz birthday party...wanna fly down
**** - Kitten.....2 days...**** ****
school run BBL
WOMB - shiat!
ETA - Yes Gigi - come over here then we can all love ya babe :)
Maz- you not taking Gigi, she is like my one and only cloth friend in adelaide.. !!!!
MINE MINE MINE
oh i forot to say welcome back Sami!!! hope you resting up and what a beautiful DD you have there
Ah but see...you'd have to come to Ness ;)
Beatrix - I could enclose the gazebo for you and your crew! But then there would be no room for the horse... hmmm...
maz - christmas wipes and more gorgeous-smelling soap that DP wants to eat. I'm tempted to let him, just to watch him blow bubbles!
WOHB: I have no idea! DP changed him before heading off to do volunteer work at the Homeless World Cup, and let me sleep in. :)
But if Gigi comes to Melbourne there's a self-contained flatette under my house, and we have 4 puters here (+2 work lappies) for 2 adults! 1 spare at all times!
Gigi - what the girls above said. You and Bilby deserve to be happy, and for sure Bilby picks up your emotions. And thanks for the email G :)
Kitten - woohooo soon for you! And apparently amber breastfeeding necklaces keep mastistis at bay!
Suse - photos woman, photos! Glad the teething necklace seems to be working, its hard to believe but I figure that the bubs are too young for it to have just a placebo effect.
Us - well we had a horror night. Pip woke around 11pm and screamed until 1am, think there was wind there. He won't eat, just drinks milk and water. Yesterday he was looking a little shocky IYKWIM but his temps and stuff are fine. He's still asleep. Changed his bum last night while he was in our bed for a while - from one snoozywun to another - cause I think he'd sweated through the first one. Poor little mite. If his virus is on par with ours, then it means its almost over - today I'm bringing up very productive phlegm and my head isn't pounding quite as much. Ahhh the joys of childbirth - need more mama pads :(
Anyhows, that's my ramble for a little while.
Have a great, safe day all.
Kaz & pip
hey Kaz - there's a chick on ebay selling mama's pads with wings for $10.50 new. I got 2 and their not bad. get better woman!
Kaz- ahh crap.. hope you family is better soon
Maz- melb.. as long as im near KK store..
Nana- me and my crew? are you sure you up for that, they can be quite a handful... and just think what tricks my 3 turds opps i mean 3 beautfil wodnerful choldren could teach your little one..
make me think back to the time i went to syd and in just a week annika had tough my friends son how to pull down the gate she had up and how to climb over the couch.. and that was when she was just 1!!!!
this morning Annika had used the handle on my ktichen draws to climb onto the bench the used soemthing to step on on the nech to get to the advent calanders i had ontop of the range hood above the oven.. and they helped themself...
this is what they do when i am sleeping in the morning, they dont wake me up
Beatrix - yeah, bring em on! I'm game. I used to share a house with 5 kiwi rugby players (I was the only girl/cook/vegetarian/coherent speaker/person less than 100kg in the house), and running a commercial kitchen with a staff of 18 very naughty Sri Lankan boys has also given me a bit of experience in toddler taming, somehow! Oh, and when I used to cater for a childcare centre I learned very quickly to hide anything remotely tempting for littlies (and staff!) in empty cracker boxes in the fridge. Hiding stuff from guys is so much easier. Just put it in front of them.
maz, I wanna see him blow bubbles too. I wish now I hadn't told him it really was soap... ooh that's wicked!
kaz & pip, I hope you get over this yukky bug soon. Sounds dreadful...
Suse, hope you're nearly fully recovered from the birthday party! It's great that E's not reacting to the moo goo and he's all cleared up enough to wear fab faux fur nappies again! The teething necklaces are great, hey? I got a matching one for me and DS. I was pretty skeptical at first but it seems to be helping, so I'm not going to question it.
WOHB: same. Still dont know, coz he's still asleep! Oh no! Someone's switched my baby!! this can't be right...
i just got fluffy mail!
itti bittis are so lush!
her first nappy will be a lovely bums fitted with spunky as maz butterfly cover, oh come on little one mummy wants to play with your butt!!!!
