Oh BG you nasty nasty enabler!! I just accidentally bought the purple sparkle beetle  Oh well, it has sparkles and will tide me over until there is bling!!
iishfly doing sparkles? cant see them? i love her nappies, i have 7 all up :)
sorry its not the size you wanted wardy! but the more i look at it the more i love it - and little laaaa should still fit into it for a while, so i might keep it. havent tried a widdlewun. sorry bg -but if it doesnt fit its all yours :)
BG - I am confused. MSN?
Ladies I have a very strange request.
Can someone, or some of you, please take photos of the "inside" of your favourite nappies. Only Aussie made ones though please! I'm being picky and particular with the purchase of some new nappies and DF wants to see what all the fuss is about with boosters etc.
As much as I try to explain MCN to him, I don't think he will ever understand.
Only a few of the websites actually show you in images what the insides look like, not sure why?
Gogo Mel - Do you have MSN? If you do please add me with the little blue guy in the top corner of my post.
Ali - did that work?
Cheeky MOnkey
i wondered why so many sites didn't show you the inside of the nappies too.
after two years of looking and asking why, these are some of the explanations i got:
- some website designs (esp entry level, e.g cheaper ones) only allow ONE picture per listing, so the WAHM is limited to what she can show - by cost
- some WAHM's are concerned about copying
- some don't show it on the site, but i have emailed them, and they have been happy to expand in emails, show me photos, talk me thru how their particular boosting system works
it IS worth finding out about the nappy insides
on sites where you might only be shown a pic of the back view of the nappy, i email to ask, "what sort of closure is it"? if you can't see any snaps, or aplix, how would you know?
the kind of things, where if you saw it IRL, picked it up and turned around, you would answer your own questions in two secs - but wihtout multiple good pics, you can be unsure about. i won't spend money on things i am unsure about.
if you know your kid needs minimum layers of absorbency for their nappy, and the listing you look at is vague about how many layers of absorbency is in that nappy, i cannot pay $X to find out by using it on my child, to find out if the nappy has enough layers or not. i need to know before i press ADD TO CART.
so email and press CONTACT US, easier to do your research BEFORE the stockings, have it clear in your own mind what you DO and DON"T want, keep that list, so when they ARE available, you are not dithering, you are clear.
We tried a Blueberry pocket SS once, lovely mcn, but too wide for bilbs.
Queen - i cannot work out what Punky is up to in your photo, too small for me to see. i wish i looked like bilbs! so much fun shopping for her clothes (even though, i mostly window shop), i have no desire to buy clothes for me anymore.
but my "small and short" two year old, has such a large head, i bought a hooded beach towel for her, for children - her HEAD won't fit thru the hole!!! but she fits into a size 1 target dress! What the , . . . . .
She is so in love with doing "bee bees" on the big toilet with the insert in.
i cannot believe it seems to be happening!
and i havne't done the "week going nude, stay home" thing that so many people mention".
Pity is i don't think she can repeat her progress at childcare. they don't have a step for the toilet, they don't have an insert for the toilet. Without those aids, she can't manage. She can't make her clothes (jeans, knickers) go up and down, and with the ratio being one to 10 kids, i doubt she'll get the help.
tt-ing is all about consistency i keep reading, poor kid, she sure is not getting consistency. i thought about buying CCC a step ($15) and an insert, but as they're such mobile items, i guess the bigger kids will just run off with them, and they won't be available when bilbs needs them.
all ccc has is two narrow potties (which bilby doesn't feel safe on balance wise, so she won't use them). they have two "lower to the ground than usual" toilets, but as bilbs is so darn short, still too tall for her to get onto (without a step).
i don't want her to get all enthused at home, then get deflated at CCC.
After that "bringing up baby docu" on abc last night, and the Routine Lady who advocates leaving nbs, outside in the garden for four hours UNATTENDED, i felt so protective of bilbs, after she was ready at 8am, all ready for childcare, she didn't want her breakfast and fell asleep again at 8.30am, so i let her, and she wanted to sleep until 11.30 -then wanted to do toilet stuff and have her lunch. So i waited for all that to be done, before taking her to CC at 1pm. {Wearing trainers in the car - FIRST TIME - no accidents}.
We normally get there at 10am. So i ignored all the pointed comments about "she's not used to being here at this time of day" - i felt i listened to her needs, went with them and that felt right for me.
After explaining that bilby had just slept three hours and only woken up at 11.30am, after getting all ready to come to CC at 8am, her primary care giver then looked me in the eye and asked "all the other kids are sleeping, should i put her down for a nap?". This is my child, who NEVER has day naps - i've just finished saying she's had a three hour nap just recently. I feel like bilby might as well be a complete stranger to her primary care worker. 1:10 is just too much (IMO) i don't think the workers can cope with that many kids.
i guess i should rationalise our mcn now. dreading it, all the photographing, describing, agonising over pricing etc, it will be a big task.
she needs nappies for outings, nappies to poo in at home, night nappies, childcare nappies when they don't have her in knickers.
NaNa - for toilet training a non-mobile child, friends of mine who EC non-mobile bubs really like side snap trainers. So that when the poo accident happens, it's easier to lie child down and deal with nappy.
Ali - i would love to see a photo of the purple beetle bling! Leah is going to ahve the most gorgy clothy bott!

Anna, that's exactly why the side snapping nappies are so good! You can adjust the waist and leg snaps independently to suit you baby's build. That is why, unfortunately, nappies with a single row of snaps don't suit us. My children's legs are too chubby so either the legs are too tight or the waist is too loose.
I'm on a self-imposed buying ban til next month. Must not listen to any of you girls, you are all bad for me.
Maz - Why thank you hun, you're not too bad yourself!
Gigi - I discovered it's her skirt!! Makes sense one you KNOW haha, I thought she was holding a garbage bag!! I know what you mean about shopping for bub - I love love love shopping for Punk.
I should have come in here earlier!! (Or maybe it's good that I did nae) Iishfly you say....?!
cheeky monkey, where abouts are you hun? you dont have the PM feature yet, but look I am in sydney, if youwant to come and see lots of aussie made/owned IRL you are more than welcome to pop by :)
reminds me - ll80 have you checke out the spunkybutts 3 packs? you use a snappi for a reat fit :)
bg - been thinking about this widdlewun nappy all night, I feel bad now knowing you want it. I just want to check out the sizing, if it seems small i'll pass it on to you straight away - no point wasting it if its a smaller cut when your little gremlin will get more use out of it.
WOHB - swaddlebees OV "AIO" pocket (husband nappy)
no drama hun - just let me know!
Ali - i ordered the sparkly iishfly, and didn't check how many she had in stock. went back in after you said you'd ordered and it was gone from listing so maybe she had a couple?? it definitely shows in my email receipt and on my order summary on her site so i'm hoping thats what happened!
thank god I turned the computer off last night!! I so dont need any more nappies.
find it quiet interesting that IF have now done bling.wonder if she'll get wrapped across the knuckles for it like BB did :(
Gigi - I have the same problem with Vy...she's size 1 in many things still and I find it hard to get clothingto fit her correctly..its harder to cause she doesnt wear nappies through the day anymore and pants just fall of her. were as Mateauz is a lump and in some size 2's already
Kitten babe...you might want to take the link out of your post to hon...BB guidelines state no links for things like this :( . Very nioce but ;)
Can someone give me some energizer batteries..im flat as today afte Mateauz waking up at 3am for an hour and deciding that his bum would look good sitting on his mama's face! I dont think I could cope with a NB born again...ahh maz needs her 4 hours of sleep anight
anyone got any bamboo fleece they want to load off :) Ive run out
Gigi - Thank-you. Silly though, I never thought to e-mail the WAHM's and stores to ask for photos. I feel exactly the same as you do though re: not having the money to buy the nappy only to find it wasn't absorbent enough or had the right closure etc.
I like to know where the absorbent layers are and how many as it helps me to know drying time and just how absorbent they are KWIM. I'm thinking I want MCN's that have minimal layers in the body but lots of layers in removable boosters for faster drying time.
Oh and I'm sorry I forgot to take note of who kindly offered for me to see her stash but I live in North Qld so that's quite a drive hehe
I have found a way for front single row snappers to fit big legs and little waists (Well Saram's DH did and she showed me). Most of them have 2 snaps on each wing. the outer of those 2 snaps is the leg ajustment, and the inner is the belly adjustment. all you need to do is set the outer of the 2 snaps to the leg, then MISS A SNAP and put the inner of the 2 snaps on a smaller waist size. Certainly gets rid of the open belly issue that we have on Em.
ETA: Cheeky Monkey - I am in Townsville. I have a few aussie made WAHM nappies Are you around Townsville?
morning ladies :D
i hope you are all ok....doing OK here :)
nappy news...
if anyone comes across bling suitable for my little lump (medium) think of me!!!!
WOJB ~ turquiose IB
NANA ~ your avatar piccie is HOT!!!!

 https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ml#post1669999
Er I am so glad I wasnt on last night if there were Iishfly's and sparkles
I WANT WANT WANT those night nappies. I am willing to sell a kidney (or even Dhs as well) to get some ;)
Woot! That was quick! Thanks Kat! I had to go back a few pages and check coz I had no idea what you were on about...
ummm... nappies... um, nope, been at the dentist, face is numb and I think they removed my frontal lobe...
WOHB: ??? a nappy? DP dressed him after the potty, and they're crashed out together!
? about strip washing - do you re-wash like normal afte the strip wash or once the suds are gone are you right to just dry it as per normal? Had to strip wash Jetts Iishfly cause he threw it in my mop bucket with a minute amount of bleach in it yesterday WAH. No colour problems just leaked right through when he wore it.
Just dry as per normal hun.
Noice Avvy NaNa
Maz - gorgeous as per usual... I'd expect nothing else from you of course ;)
Alioops, thanks for that tip. I have some nappies that I bought before I knew what would suit my baby and I can keep on using them with greater peace of mind now.
Maz - All I have to say to you is... *drool*
Totally OT but I am so excited... ALDI have overlockers next week for $199!!!! OMG!!
QM - Damn no Aldi's anywhere near me :( I want an overlocker. Anyone want to get one for me considering postage will still be cheaper than buying one up here? Then I can get started on my little project ;)
Maz - I dont have any Bamboo Fleece YET but I am looking into buying some and a snap press and some PUL. If they work well I might try and break into the incontinence market as well as the AF market.
i sold an Overlocker a few years ago and it cost me $40 to post to Whyalla in SA babe...id say $60 max to you plus Id get registered mail.
great idea Ali  you go for it girl!!!
Queen - yes jed pointed out the overlocker to me....saying I should get aback up one...thinking thinking....
oh and glad you all like :D Ive had alot of fun with it to say the least :p thats what its all about isn't it
Na -have to ask...whats with the Paris connection hon????
Oh Ali - thanks re the bamboo babe...I took the plunge and got me 10m of it...wonder how long it will last
have done my friggen back! Im walking like a 90 yo atm...and all jed can do is be a grumpy bastard!
Let me know when you are going there babe and I will send you some $$. I think $260 is much better than $500!!
Maz - how'd u do that?
Well I'm very impressed - we were driving for 3.5 hours and one BBB with BB PUL cover lasted all that time :) No leaks!
Those Maz nights are looking hot ... evil maz. I have no use for night nappies!
Oooh, must ring my g/f and see how the nappies I lent her are going.
WoHB - zappy + BB PUL cover
who mentioned that iishfly had bling?? if so what nappies were they?? any still available??
WOJB ~ VERY wet rump-a-rooz
there was only one listed - a lady bug "sparkle" which both Ali and I snapped up - so she better have had two to sell or one of us will be peeved (and i think i ordered first - sorry Ali!)
time to scan back through and find Gigi's list of how many times everything needs pre washing to make sure it is absorbant. it's not at all warm here but so far everything is only taking about 18 hours to dry (except sherpa - they're prolly 24 hours...)
thanks BG :D
i ALWAYS seem to miss out on bling :(
Ali, I live on the gold coast so I could get you an Aldi machine if you want.
Maz, was there some drama about other people doing bling on nappies?
Is there someone out there who thinks they have a monopoly on crystals?
hmmm... overlockers.... hmmm... want one...
ali - brilliant idea! Seriously, I'm sure I've asked it before, but do you think there's ever going to be a forum like this for the appreciation of modern cloth incontinence products??
maz - Paris connection? well, DP is French... and Paris is just.. Paris! It's gorgeous and I love it there. I wanna go back. Today, s'il t' plait. Hope your back's better soon, luv. Shake ya walking stick at Jed and screech for a cup of tea with scotch in it. Purely for medicinal purposes... ;)
kat - get yourself some bling instead? Jack can't have all the fun (though I bet he tries).
hey, I've had a silly thought! bling mama pads!
WOHB: wild child and the most coveted cover this side of mooroopna!
Nana - There is a section on here for cloth pads in the your period and contraceptives section, and there is a cloth mama's section on NC. I think it is a matter of getting word out there and reminding women that the crap in the supermarket encourages thrush. I will send you a few to test when I get going ;) I have a couple of HH ones that have hemp as the absorbent stuff, but I prefer bamboo and would probably put at least one extra layer in. OOOH I am getting excited about this now!! And if I did do bling it would be for specific pads ;) like G liners or something.
Shell - Is is cheaper for parcel post from the GC than it is from Vic?
BG - Well if she can't deliver I will demand a refund. I have already paid in full and never got an error, so lets hope she has 2!!
WOEB: Choc Bubbles CT
WOSB: Green Tea CT
ali - yah, I know... I was thinking more along the lines of carers of elderly and incontinent folks. I know my mum would be horrified if she were old enough to need them and couldn't get a nice pair of cooshie velour incontinence pants for herself. She'd probably quite like side snaps too...( dont tell her I said that!) There's a market for them too! LOL!
Ali, am not sure, but am posting stuff for work all the time so will find out for you on monday. I would have thought so????
