Gigi - isn't TT being able to recognise when she needs to go, before she needs to go, articulate it and do it in the toilet? I wasn't aware of when TTing became hanging on until your bladder explodes - in that case, Im not TT either!! lol

jess - might just need a few more washes to reach full absorbency, and i find any night nappy needs a woolen cover - anything else does leak here.

Jess - are you new to night nappies? or do you have others already?

in general, wiht ANY nappy, night or day, LEG SEAL is crucial.
so when you do up the nappy, check there is no gaping around the legs. if you can get two fingers inside that gape, you're gonna have leaks.
check baby when they're lying down (like on change table) and then AGAIN check them when you're holding baby up vertical, look back ANd front, check for TUMMY gape also.

tummy and leg gape are fit issues
size or style of nappy
and result in leaks thru the legs or tummy

if a nappy isn't absorbent enough for your child, you'll get the entire nappy leaking.

i'm sure Maz will help you with this particular nappy, i've just put down points, general to ANY nappy.

other point relevant to NIGHT nappies:
- don't tuck in singlet or pj top
- have any clothing very loose e.g onesie, sleeping bag
- make sure 100% of nappy is covered by the cover (if using a fitted night nappy)
- polar fleece sleeping bags can cause wicking for some bubs (did for us)

GiGi- :redface: Yup a newbie to night naps... :hide: normally we use huggies at night... It held up well everywhere else but yeah once it started to get wet it started to hang a bit and there was a gap round the legs... (which is where it leaked through her pants and the sheets... There is PLENTY of room for her to grow i had to double the sides over so might need a medium size or use a cover... The others i brought are all large also so i might be in for a shock and need mediums... So used to my flats and i dont need to worry but round the legs... lol. Oh well its all a learning process... (at least i have an excuse to buy more now... well once i get some extra money now i dont qualify for the bonus)

Yes Limey, the fact that bilby has stayed day in the day, for ten days, tells me each time she needs to go, then promptly goes, i am so proud of her for that. the realisation, the communication, the timing. going great guns as far as i'm concerned. no years of buying pullups and extended nappy wearing for us. which is one of the reasons i chose to use MCN.

i read ages ago, the average mcn child toilet trains around 13kg.
so that made me wonder, what weight would bilby be, when her turn came.
well, if tt-ing, means "day tt-ing) in this case, she did it at 11.6kg.

considering we didn't do EC-ing (just used some of the principles to assist tt-ing), i'm pretty pleased.

Jess, are you choosing night nappies by WEIGHT or MEASUREMENTS?
sometimes, a mixture of both can help too.
i used one "too large around the legs" night nappy on bilbs ok, what i did to mitigate the too big part, was
- put a woollen soaker over the top
- add an extra booster inside the fitted night nappy, to take up some of the leg gape
we didn't use larges until over 10kg, but it seems every nappy brand has their own version of waht the weight range is, for their large size - so alwyas worth reading the sizing link, emailing the owner to check, and measuring your baby first.

measure baby's waist, around top of thighs, their rise (most important bit).

when they're naked on changetable, get a tape measure, start at baby's navel, take it down, under them and up the other side, to the small of the back (roughly level with the navel). easiest to do this when they're standing up, or another person, holding them up for you. doesn't matter if they wiggle their legs, you're just measuring their lower torso.

the rise measurement is your best piece of info, to help you choose the right size nappy, esp a night nappy. so say your bub's naked rise is 35 and the night nappy you want to buy says "rise of 40cm" - that would be fine, give you a bit of growing room too.

you can also grab a nappy that fits her well already, stretch it out (the elastic) on a flat surface (from tummy end to back end) and have someone else, measure that length for you. that's another way to measure rise - a bit trickier i think.

gigi - We have a potty in our car all the time...boys can twinkle o n the sid eof the road...whats a little girl suppose to do????? As for the wieght htin...Vy is 10.5kg and Mateauz is over 12 now....hmmmm and I dontthink he's ready to be TT yet (dame no!!!)

Jess - Id say you got one to big. I often find if Jed Doesnt tuck the cover around Mateasuz leg's that we get wet too. Make sure that you tuck the nappy and cover up around the legs correctly at night but honestly yes Id say the nappy is to big.

Have just come home from spending 2 hours at Kids town (BIG kids playground here) for an easter egg hunt!!!! kids had a ball and now im knacked.

Have decided to make a turle NB and penguin NB AIO for my SIL's baby....I can cluck over htem :(

Gigi - thanks! I told Jess you'd be the one to help out. Go Bilby! What a brilliant achievement, and phooey to the green-eyed monster. I reckon DS wont be far off 13kg by the time he's 18 months, but he still is way off the verbal skills or understanding time and the concept of holding on more than the time it takes me to whip off his dacks and sit him on the "doddy" that's always handy. I'm just glad he has that much communication skill and still can't stand up or jump off the potty unassisted just yet. I'm sure things will take a messy turn once that happens...

Our trip to Melbourne is now off....My BIL and his wife are having an emergency c/s in the morning (baby is breach and SIL is atiny chick...size 7 if lucky) so BBQ at their place is now off! bugger me just after I went and cut out 2 NB AIO's out...hmmmmm turtle outter with aqua velour and the other one penguins with glittered ice bergs in the background and white velour. Will post pics on FB when Ive finished them....dame it I was hoping to give her these before the baby was here and the breast pads too.

Ive had my first drink in such along time and its gone to my head....hav eput all sewing and cutting instruments away after cutting :rolleyes: myself AGAIN!!!!!

Oh Maz, hope you didn't cut yourself too badly! Bad luck for your BiL / SiL - all the best for her and the bub tomorrow.
