AJ - can you try a lint remover ? it wil come aoff over the next few washes . when they still had coulored bamboos i washed them all together and i had pink and green fluff over every nappy !!
last night mum told me she put gabriella in a "pink spotty thing" and i knew it was a Itti , so i warned her and told her to use a sposie(coz i reckon a NN would have changed her mind bout ever looking after them again !!) , i guess she forgot and early thismoring she woke up grumpy , and whinghy , her itti never got changed and it had comperssion leaked and made her really damp ... but ive had worse leaks in other NN so i guess it held up well ... poor darl everything had to be changed ..
-
Teru - I think its supposed to be in around 2 weeks time. I'm sure I'll find out for sure on NA.. lol
EEJ - its a bugger when friends are like that. And those mini lalas are sooo cute. I haven't got one of my own, but I like looking at everyone else's.
Think Miss M has either a belly bug, a reaction to the yoghurt I fed her the other day, or really bad teething poos. I woke up this morning to the sound of DH swearing his head off and going "omg".. "oh this is awful"... "GROSS" over the toilet with the little squirt.
But yay I got to sleep in!!!!! Still sick though :(
WOAB: Pink Haute
WOMB: No idea, DH changed her before I got up.
-
Ah atleast he wasnt heaving Mel, mine REFUSES to use the LS for poo's just leaves them for me to do (and forgets to tell me for hours ew). He would have been heaving over the toilet while spraying  He has a princess fit over wee for goodness sake. I married a sissy boy *sigh*
I bought a pre loved Snoozywun for Riv and he wore it last night - I forgot to put a cover over it (haha) - no leaks! He was just the teensiest bit damp to touch and he went from 10pm-7am in it.
-
i'm so looking forward to the times DH is home - he can LS nappies - if he can hose out a b-double full of cow crap without freaking out, he can clean a nappy or three!
ooh, having said that - must ring my bro to come install said LS - he's been a bit of a slacker!

Morning Ladies
Had the night from hell last night. Probably an hours sleep broken up into 10 minute blocks. Have toothpicks keeping my eyes open.
DS has a cold and was running a temperature of 38.3 all night.
Got up this morning and OH JOY I have it too. So the two of us are feeling very sorry for ourselves curled up on the couch today watching cartoons and movies.
Can anyone remind me what stains MCN, is it panadol or nurofen? And can any of those over the counter cough medicines do it too?
DF is working all day of course, and then has two night shifts tomorrow and monday nights. What fun that's going to be.
WOPB: tiger bubblebubs

CM - Anything with Sorbitol is a no-no, so panadol. I dont have any nurofen to see if that has it in there.
Anna - DH doesnt like it either, but he would rather clean it up and avoid having to clean up other disgusting stuff that I can't stomach than clean double the mess after I attempt to clean it in the first place. One guess who cleans when Gastro comes to visit, Mwahahahaha!!
Mel - Em had a reaction on Sunday and is still slightly rashy, but not too bad because of the hydrocortizone. I hate reaction poos too. C has my empathy.
Eej - but at least you got fluffy mail to make you feel better ;)
DH is catching up on the nappies!! Only one bit that is missing it's nappy on the couch atm. I assume that nappy is in the WM. If not he has to hunt it out. And he remembered to unsnap everything after I showed him the boosters last night. A couple of them started to fray where the snaps are, but thankfully they aren't too bad yet. He understands the importance now though because he doesn't want me replacing the whole stash.
WOEB: White Basix CT with bamboo foldup
WOSB: Aquarium CT Couture.

CM - nurofen is fine, panadol leaves stains. That said I havent had any panadol stains yet and Ive used it once or twice.
-
Thanks girls.
DF's work kindly sent him home to look after us today. I feel like death warmed up, and apparently I look it too.
If I'm using panadol do I have to use sposies, as surely liners wouldn't help? I don't want stained nappies, but I also don't want to use sposies. Maybe I'll switch to nurofen.
-
Anna - Snoozywuns don't need covers :D
Nappy rash getting better, still continuing in sposies for today then tomorrow we'll be back to cloth. Not happy with DH - I had my nappies in a basket near the staircase to take up to the airers, and he decided to remove the roof (!) or part of it from the garage, so my clean nappies got all covered in twigs, sticks and muck from under the roof :( NOT HAPPY.
Other than that ... yay on fluff!
-
So jealous of all these nappy changing hubbies... even is they dont use the LS... WOW... My DP is a sissy... cant do nappies... *shakes head* (but i could go on all day but his parenting skills...
well DD was given one of those kids fruit stick things from a friend the 2 kids loved them but OMG i freaked out when she pooped red... couldnt think what she ate until i remembered... so yuk...
BG- i grew up going to my uncles farm every 2nd weeked at least and i would rather deal with horse and cow shiat then babys...
Also DD has started reaching in between her legs when i change her nappies... Not good when she is pooping so much... its going everywhere in the MCNs. What r the best liners to use for poop. i have been using the johnsons ones but no matter which way i fold it to put it in it never contains it all... maybe i just need a LS... is that the only one u all recommend???
-
Really Kaz!? Erm well we've been using one over them lol Oh well Ds1 loves to wear his polar bear cover so who am I to tell him he cant hehe
-
Hiya all,
Where is the best place to get a snap press.
DH just told me to buy one after I was lamenting about wing droop on a few of Elise's nappies.
Why do some nappies only have one row of snaps instead of two, I don't have any luck on my skinny waisted girl unless I can snap before and after the cross over, if that makes sense.
-
1180 - many people have that same problem with the "one row of snaps" front snappers.
have you tried sidesnappers? that's what solved it for us. both when bilby was chubby and when she slimmed down also. they are soooo adjustable.
NaNa - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LITTLE AADI ! enjoy your pancakes made with lurve by mama!
annaT - snoozywuns are an ai2 nappy, so no need for a cover. the outer of them is malden mills nightweight fleece.
HeyGoodLooking - for liners to contain poop?
for daytime, i used a cloth liner PLUS a soft paper liner e.g tots bots or bummis
for nighttime, i used a microfleece liner
bilby was reacting to synthetics, so i had her in cotton velour liners the majority of the day, but before that, 100% microfleece liners.
when the poop was runny, paper liners were not any help.
as soon as the poop was pastey or formed, then the paper liners were da bomb.
i thought the Johnson liners were very harsh material, so decided not to use them. it was very cheap, e.g $5 to buy a half a metre of micropolarfleece from spotlight. you just cut them up, no sewing needed. it doesn't fray in the wash.
a roll of flushable liners is like $10 - $12.00 - great too for childcare and going out (and travelling interstate, as i found out). you change bub in public loo, lift out paper liner, flush that down the loo, roll up rest of nappy for your wetbag.
i swear by the Little Squirt, makes dealing with the poo so easy (once you read the instructions and know how to use it). they are worth the money (to me). and you keep using it even after tt-ing.

here's what i tried to post last night, but BB site went down
Nana - i would email Jayne at Nurture Nappies and ask her advice re sending back nearly gone elastic bumg's.
How many sleeps til you leave? excitement!!
Kazbah - poor Pip, that sounds so sore. Second skin sounds a good idea. Alioops mentions something too, maybe OPSITE? i prolly have the name wrong, but for similar purpose.
if that physical reaction and resulting pain, isn't enough to force childcare to do MCN for him, nothing will!
Just say, my child is allergic to your disposable nappies, here is what he has to be in, here is how you do them up and deal with used ones, end of. If you have a problem, take it up with his GP or i will take my child elsewhere!
Katie Rabbit - there are SO many similar sounding nappy brands, adn initials that could stand for four different brands, it IS confusing. eg there is Cute Tooshies, Cushie Tushies, Kushies! baby beehinds, bubblebubs, beetlebums (all BB).
wotbb: blueberry trainer
Charmlea - if a night nappy is not soiled, can you just take inserts out (wash those), and re-use the shell with fresh inserts?
now who asked about pj band getting wet, using bbh as night nappy.
1. try not to tuck ANYTHING into the night nappy e.g singlet, pj top
2. anything you put OVER the night nappy, needs to be on the side of LOOSE, not firm, otherwise you'll get compression leaks. e.g the pj bottom waistband, was it a wee bit firm? or loose?
3. pj bottoms - what fabric are they made of? cotton tends to wick (absorb moisture)
4. these type of issues is why many mcn-ers look to other options - e.g woollen longies, flongies etc - to take the place of pj bottoms, over a night nappy
5. higher rise for night nappies, and esp night covers can help
6. was the night nappy completely soaked? or just the waistband of the jama pants? trying to work out if the nappy combo, had sufficient absorbency for your child at this stage.
7. how was the night nappy and cover done up? any gaping? any nappy combo can leak, if fit e.g gaping, is an issue.
i have no clue what is causing your particular problem, but the points above, just some general things to consider, which i hope might help you, then again, it may be none of the things i mentioned.
Night nappying is a different animal completely, to day nappying. The child wriggles around in their sleep, they're horizontal.
MAZ - yes, my converted friend is also the person who loves your breastpads! She can't wait until her latest order arrives.
-
hey ll80 there is a snaps austrlalia website that sell them or a NZ one.....
Well i am in heavan and soo happy withmself atm! i now have 4 Night Nappies so to speak thanks to my BumG's that are too wide to wear during the day but perfect for night in so many reasons....its harder for DS to roll in them (esp when double boosted) so i haven't had to wrap him at night and he is still sleeping through peacefully....
Can't wait for my fluffy mail its killing me...so from B4B if i ordered Mon payment cleared Wed when do we think they will arrive???? ah im dying to get them its my first ever order and the wait is killing me ahhh
oh and i might be getting some freebies just got to pay for postage so woop woop thanks to NC :D
WOTB - Blue BumG double boosted pocket
-
Gigi - thanks luvvy!! We had a lovely day, and lots of cuddles from Ammi (grandma).
Jayne has said to send back the ones I think ought to be returned, so I'm going thru the ones that are clean and dry and scrutinising everything. The ones with shabby velcro are going back. The ones that have over-stretched elastic are getting a good stretch and double-check to see if they shrink back at all, and they're going back too. The elastic isn't completely shot yet, but I can tell from comparing them to a new Swaddlebees that the gathering is minimal, and they're never going to fit properly again. The elastic is just too cheap and nasty. After removing the shot elastic from an old v2, and comparing it to the elastic used in a Swaddlebees, it's just terrible! No wonder it didn't last 6 months, even part of a rotated stash of 35+ nappies. I can't see how the v3s elastic is that much better. It's so thin.
I wont say how many sleeps till we leave... that would be random, considering how notorious Aadi is for sleeping badly! We leave on Friday night and I am SO nervous/excited/panicking right now... remember to breathe, NaNa!
I would love a few extra snaps on DS's sandman... and maybe wild child NNs too. Can't see him getting a chubby tummy any time soon. Me, on the other hand, I plan on coming home from holidays with an impressive pot belly! Going to stuff myself. mmmm..... fromage.... mmmmm.....
WOAB: super orange swaddlebees. Vitamin C orange, even. Fanta orange. Glow in the dark orange. You get the picture.
-
hi everyone!
A big thankyou to chrmalea, I just looove my new bbhs, they stay so dry!!
just a quick question, I heard someone talking the other day about mcns and apparantley there is a lady down my way somewher who has patterns and materials to make mcns, she cuts it out for you and you take it home and sew it all up yourself, they couldnt remember where she is, or any other info, but its price effective.
so, does anyone from SA have any idea about this? or even ali? have you heard about her? sounds interesting.
thanks!
-
NaNa - I would love to see that orange nappy. It sounds rad man.
Starry - no info here for you i'm afraid - but that sounds awesome if you are a sewer! Unfortunately I was not blessed with that skill I'm afraid.
I can finger knit though -maybe I should try a pair of longies
WOAB: Dunno but its smelly!
WOMB: Um yeah dunno - DH changed them this morning. Oh no, she's in an IF - now I remember. I did look up from the computer when he was dressing her.
-
Does anyone know if you can use that "Gaia Soothing Lotion" with MCN's? I used it today as DD has a bit of nappy rash but I made sure I used a liner as I wasn't sure :dunno:
