Gigi:
Was thinking about newborn nappy issues this morning...
Would hemp prefolds/boosters work with a gusset cover as well as bamboo?
I had a rough night with Jeremy last night... we went to a Thai restaurant for dinner to celebrate my MIL's 70th birthday and I don't think the food agreed with him.
WOHB: cotton prefold with ME Riki cover
I only have one Riki (xs size) wonder what my chances of getting some 2nd hand ones in bigger sizes are? I almost NEVER see them on B4B - do people EVER sell them????
-
yep I love having a big collection too - I am with maz, i dont drink etc, dont spend money on myself (i dont even dye my hair!) and the amount of pairs of shoes i have can be counted on one hand :) - I have been lucky enough to try most and to find the ones that really do work the best for us. had I not tried more I would have settled for what I had previously, did get quite addicted! Now I will only buy more beetlebum inside outs and sugar shots (and gf's of course!) But for the moment I really dont need any, it will only be a special nappy if i do get more
i have a new addiction, wraps and heaven help me....

are you on NC or NA? You could post a wanted ad, people usually have these things sitting around :) You might get lucky. If you like I can ask and see if anyone has any?
I loved the ME Rikki covers when Ash was a NB! We used flanny flats and the ME Rikki with zero leaks :)
CM nah hun didn't think that at all. Just thought I would point out that I don't spend all my $ on nappies :) I've cut down a lot on buying in the last couple of months. Most of those I had before Ash was 5 months old lol
LOL Kitten that's like me too! I have 4 pairs of shoes, enough clothes that I don't need more but they aren't taking up a walk in robe  and im happy with where we're at right now :) I do ok for a single mumma who doesn't work, the boys dad is great in that he pays his CS and makes sure the kids don't want for anything :)

Missymo84:
Nope not a member of NC or NA and my nappy funds are zilch at the moment. I have TONS of small nappy covers (no rikis though) but I am not sure when he will grow in to them.

lilprecious, have you considered buying any pop in nappies? if you remove the booster they come with, you could easily put a prefold in there and they have the snap down fronts so they go from really quite small to large and then you also have an AI2 nappy for when its easier to have that. They have bought out a new version and so he old version is on cheap at one or two places. They have legs gussets and I know they have been really popular. They sell for 36bucks but thats for a whole nappy to last lots of sizes.

Well up to day 3 in mcn, yeah.
DD went to bed with a bbh bamboo with large and small inserts and bbh wool cover worked great. Though dh said the nappy gets a smell to it when dd wee's in it. Is there anything I can do to stop that. Only happens in the bbh bamboo.
WORB itti bitti.

sweetpea - The smell thing is completely normal, and as far as I know, there's not a whole lot you can do about it! It tends to get worse when bubs is teething. More like ammonia. Sposies have nasty odour-neutralising chemicals in them, which is why it's not so noticeable with them. Unnatural.
DS is cutting 2 more molars at the moment, and the stink this morning... OMG it was soooo bad! Mind you, he had been eating lots of garlic too, but still, it was stinky enough to make my eyes water!
Wool covers should go a small way towards neutralising the odour, and you can get some really nice smelling lanolin and wool shampoos.
Nappy stuff here... nope, nothing exciting.

NaNa, thanks for that thought I might of been doing it wrong, it was heaps better in the wool cover opposed to the pul over night.
So now to get a spare wool cover.
WORB pruple magical, down for her nap.

New thread - can't believe I missed it!
Having issues with the night nappy... Used a bbh with a soaker and it leaked... is there something I did wrong or do I just have a big weer?

Boy it is quiet in here - usually this thread is hopping.
I'm nearly finished with my yucky cheap disposable nappies and therefore ready to go full time cloth with DS#2!
I did break down and buy a small packet of premium disposables just to have for back-up and emergencies. Three blow-outs with complete outfit changes really annoyed me yesterday.
Not much else nappy related to share with you all.
I've woken with a sore breast this morning so in between dealing with the newborn and the 3 year old I'm also trying to research how best to help my sore breast as I really don't want or need it to become mastitis.
I will NEVER hear the end of it from my MIL if that happens!

hi all,
I am new to this thread but I have been using cloth nappies for 7-8 months on my 13 month old boy Thomas...
I was just hoping to ask the experts if it is possible to fix leg elastic on a Cushie Tushie Basix - as it has gone on one of them, the rest are fine.
TIA

yeah, it is strangely quiet in here... hellooo???
Heidi, don't stress about the sposies. In fact, try not to stress about anything, coz that wont help sore BBs! Take a nice hot bath if you can, make sure bubs feeds from the sore side as much as possible, even tho it hurts, and maybe even change his feeding position and massage the sore bit. If you've got some m-a-l BB pads, pop them in the fridge or freezer to cool things down a bit!
Well, my loungeroom is back to looking like a laundry again. DS wet thru a fully boosted WCNN and longies last night, and since he was awake every hour from midnight wanting a drink, it ended up being a big wet mess. And of course it's wet and rainy here today.
WOHB: the third BumG in 10 minutes. This kid's a puddle-factory today!

Well my venture into cloth nappies is now nearly full time, I put the sposies I had left in the Cupboard just in case and now using cloth and have done for 3 days, just waiting on a few more to make life easier than washing daily. I am hoping to have enough to wash every 2-3 days, I am mainly using itti bitti's and a few bbh magicals durring the day and bbh bamboo over night.
I am using flushable liners when out and about to deal with pooey ones, and that seems to be working well.
I do have a question though, what bum cream do you use with your cloth as I know you shouldn't use sudocream, and that is what I usually use if I need to.

Sorry ladies I'm still here - just been chasing up last minute wedding things. Less than 2 weeks to go now!!
Will be back later on this arvo to post some more, just sat down for a quick drink break.

Cat sounds like it doesn't have enough boosting. Was the nappy itself really wet? Try adding some boosting to the OUTSIDE of the nappy and put the cover on :)
sweatpea I love the "Bottom Balm" (google it), it works wonderfully and you don't need much so it lasts ages :)
