I just grab some when on special and up to 9 in a month. if not needed right away then you can afford the time to browse. trying to stick with osfm myself and i have been loving the cushie tushies. if you buy a bulk pack then you get a % off

2 lots of fluff arrived in mail yesterday....magicalls from BBH and some more ittis after i picked up a few on clearance. I got the moo cow print, very cute.
Verdict on the magicalls not so good for my skinny minnie. The minky ones, well the crotch is waaaay to wide for DS and leg gape issues, even on the small so no good here. The smooth ones though are better, so i'm hopeful they'll be ok.
Anyone using BBH bamboo OSFA fitted? What covers have you used with the most success?

Ummm... I'll have to have a think. Green Kids are pretty cheap as pockets go, they just don't have the inserts with the price, but you can make your own if you are so inclined!!!:
Have you looked at secondhand ones? There are always people selling their OSFM pockets and stuff..... other than that, the cushies and pop ins are pretty expensive unless you get them on sale.
Or you could look around for brands that have a HUGE range of them in their mediums - for example, widdlewuns go from 7kg - 15kg for their mediums - both of my kids fit in the mediums. The rise is starting to get a little low for DS in the mediums, but he is getting close to 3 and I've used them on him since he was 14 months, so I've had a pretty good run. Now DD is 14 months and they can be passed on to her :D
My fav covers are mother-ease rikki and maz covers. Any other cover and I get leaks - they just don't fit properly on my kids (they have the skinny minny gene I'm afraid!!!):

I got fluffy mail today which has so brightened my week since it has been so shiat!! Might post about it later. And thank goodness for 2 beautiful BB girls who cheered me up today. So fluffy mail...I got 2 mini lalas. to go with my other 2. yep I know they don't last as long but they are so devine. and I love the hair clips she sells to so got a set for Emily. I jsut wished she would keep them in her hair!
paid for my ittis today so they should be here next week. I was tricky and am having those sent to work!! DH didn't notice the min lalas which was good.
Lea I hope DS bowel issues get better. Grr for Docs not helping!
J with J are u near Melbourne? Cause there is a baby expo down there in the next weekend or so and often the MCN sellers have awesome specials. At the sydney baby show a few weeks ago Cushie Tushies were selling their's for $28 instead of $35 and even cheaper for their basix range which now comes with a snap in booster instead of sewn in.

I've only recently been converted to MCNs and have a little stash consisting mostly of Pop ins and a handful of other brands. (Gk, BumG, CT, GF, Widdlewuns.) Need to expand heaps before I have my little one.
Sadly no one I know uses MCNs and even though I've tried to share the love, so to speak, I get the 'are you crazy' looks.
So I was hoping I could join you guys to revel in the awesome that is. (My DH still thinks I'm weird. :s )

i bought a Starbunz trainer to try on bilby, fitted her really well, but her skin couldn't cope with the synthetic inner. (i had to find trainers that had natural fibre fabric for the inner instead). Silly me for not reading the product specs closely enough before buying. i got swept away in the buying of them.
arimeh - if only i knew you were after KK AIO's! i have had two sitting in a cupboard for months now, only sold them two days ago. Congrats on the DM's (dragonflymagiks), they were one of our faves (i was lucky enough to score two). Come to think of it, i still have a DFM night nappy in the cupboard, i'm finding it hard to part with the mcn bilby doesn't need anymore and hasn't worn for months. it's like parting with "old faithfuls!". the good nappies that never leaked, that fitted her so well, etc etc. i feel a loyalty to them as crazy as that sounds. After i read of the mums who wash bedlinen EVERY morning, deal with horrible leaks all the time, so they see that as normal. i never had to do that, and i think it's because the mcn worked so well (once i worked out how to use them, in teh beginning, do them up right, buy the right ones for bilby's shape etc.) i had my own learning curve to go on. thank good ness for the patient mums who taught me, on nappycino, ozclothnappies and here at bellybelly, on this very thread. They were my University of Fluff Lecturers!!! and i was the sleep deprived, very new first time mum who kept forgetting everything.
fluff a holic - i hear you on the Fluffybubs, they migth be front snappers, but i think because they have a double row on the tummy and it's slanted, not straight, i think that's why they work. My friend has a bub who suits sidesnappers too, but the Fluffybubs (and the Kester Kovers too) are the front snapping exceptions, for the reasons i've mentioned. Clever design. It's the single row of snaps, like on the ittis that were not a good fit on bilbs either. but if it was an itti bitti FITTED nappy (the itti bitti boo), and had a sidesnapper cover over it, THEN it worked for bilby. Just not the aio style.
MAZ - Every time i visit my friend ( who switched to MCN when her bub was six months old ), i fold up all her drying nappy stash. SHe knows it makes me feel better, just to prep her DD's mcn. it's like a puzzle, matching all the bits to each other. it's my challenge, to get them all together correctly, WITHOUT having to ask my friend "does this insert go in this nappy"? and i get to think about MCN, and yes, i even pat the minky!!!:redface:
LOLLYBABY - pockets and all in twos have really good drying time.
with the mention of the Cushie Tushies, usually we have two members in this thread, who are CT reps, so they're great to ask questions. i've noticed that many people who use the Cushie Tushies love the Couture ones, but are not so keen on the Basix. The Couture ones have more absorbency layers (that's the diff btwn them). SOmetimes you get what you pay for. bamboo is an expensive fabric. so if one nappy contains MORE layers of bamboo, it has to cost more.
and just to confuse the newbies, there are CUSHIE TUSHIES, HAPPY TUSHIES and KUSHIES and CUTE TOOSHIES (all different nappy brands). LOL (there are other similar ones that i can't think of right now too).

my lil one seems to have issues dealing with the bulkiness of magicalls and the crotch seems to be very wide. She's just started rolling and gets frustrated if i put a bbh magicall on her, gives her "frogs legs".:

For anyone buying cushie tooshies, I wouldnt plan on being able to use them from birth. I had a med/large bubs and they didnt even go close to fitting till 8-10wks (and he is not an explosive pooper)
Rhyb, my cousin bought V1 and V2 pop ins and she likes the V1 better, they are bamboo and i think V2 are microfleece. I have also noticed that when the V2 first came out, all of the V1 went on sale. Now, however, the only on sale ones I have seen are V2 and the V1 are selling for $36 again. I am spitting blood that I didnt get more V1 as they were on sale for like $28 at lots of places. But yes, V2 are larger and I have found that I get a little dampness on the inner gusset if the V1 when worn for a longtime (so much so, that it will go through his clothes) I think the different fabric on the V2 was meant to eliminate this. But I am yet to see a V2 IRL.....I am hoping that when a certain clothie bumz comes back up to full speed, they will have one of thier Kick Ass sales and I will try one - or 3. Hint hint....;)

ok, i'm going to ask some really odd advice for a chicky with a four month old! but i'll ask anyway!
i need to know what sites have reasonably priced "night nickers" that would fit a five year old. my bro's DD still has accidents maybe once a fortnight - she goes into such a deep deep sleep - so they've been putting her in the disposable ones - and even Aldi brand are exxy (and getting too small for her) - so i mentioned to my bro about the reusable ones. his wife washes daily, so they'd maybe need two sets - buy once, and then no more expense. so, recommend some for me. she's not a big girl, but not tiny either - probably a standard size five for most of her clothes - haven't asked what size she's in for day underwear though
maybe GF night nickers BG, id email her and ask is she can make a custom, then get two inserts and maybe just one pair of the knickers as theyd dry very quickly
Sorry I wasnt more clear with the baby beehinds multifit. I have a minky magicall here and it is AIO with a pocket that I can put extra bamboo boosters in. I was wondering if the multifit was the same or if it was a pocket nappy.
Aiden gave the V1 pop in the poo of approval yesterday and were trialling out the CTs today :)
I got the pop ins more for the girls (cz of the leg gussets) and the CTs more for DS until the girls are big enough to share.

I am a long time stalker of this thread, but haven't posted cause it moves so fast. I keep reading as I want a few more nappies while we have the baby bonus coming in and I like reading the reviews from you girls.
Felt really deflated about cloth yesterday when my brother was so horrified that I didn't put a nappy in a nappy sack and walk out to the bin.. He then realised I was using cloth and chucked in the nappy bucket (we were at his house).. He made some comment about the convenience of sposies which I retorted with the cost each week,LOL.. Enough whinging though :p
DH made up for it when he said that he is very proud of how I have embraced it, and have only given in once when I was sick and he went back to work after we had DS. And not to mention how easy it has been with DS as Mel has leant me some smaller nappies for him!
Anyhow, that is a bit from me, and I will try and keep up cause you will understand my closet addiction to cloth nappies..

Blergh, dust, again... Cat is back from the vets. Poor thing, it doesnt look too flash, hopefully he will be okay, Lil man lit up with the biggest smile when he saw him. Cute as.
WOLB ummm BBB, rooly like them for when its hot, loverly and natural and breathable.
- happy pocket trainers (at darlingsdownunder):
- bumwear pocket trainers (at brindabellababy)
- simple simon pocket trainers (at twinsincloth)
- starbunz learners aio/pocket style (at darlings and also mother's instinct, nz site)
- noonee wilga night pockets (noonee wilga)
- daddledoo pocket trainers (her shop at the wahmnaps site)
all of these have stay dry inners
all of these need to be stuffed with an insert, some come WITH the insert like the daddledoo, most don't. so then you would need to buy a few bamboo trifolds as well.
the style of these, is for the adult to use the snaps, to INITIALLY do up the product, to size, on the child. and then for the child to pull the product up and down, like knickers, when wearing them.
I'd say the starbunz is the trimmest, most like knickers, out of all of those. (and comes in very pretty colours too).
At that age (5), i'd get the child to help pick out which colour she wants.
go by weight and rise, not clothing size
ask seller for advice on which size for buy before you buy it
if you're really unsure, get two pair sent (same postage cost)
it's cheaper to return one, (twice postage)
than return one and pay again for the right size to be sent. (thrice postage)
aio style
blueberry trainers (ozbaby trends, nurture nappies, the weewuns, baby blossom)
this has a feel wet inner, so child is aware when they wet. it is a true "pullup" style, more like knickers. i know a person who bought two for her five year old boy, that is his night time option. but every child wets differently.
ai2 style
genesa forge nappy knickers (at genesa forge)
due to their cost (same as buying a nappy) i would suggest you buy ONE of them, buy another if you are happy with it and it fits the bill in every way.
unseen by me, but i have heard of Peapods putting out a cloth trainer recently, i think it's only available on the peapod site.
the motherease bedwetter pants are very exxy, but get good reviews, haven't tried those. i suspect you can buy those thru motherease stockists, e.g nuture nappies.
there is no silver bullet
you have to try them and see what suits the child
but putting a brollysheet on the bed sure did help make light work of 3am accidents! Conni sheets gets a good rep too.

just a question - with the bamboo trifolds, would itti trifolds be ok? i think this is going to be a short term thing and DD is a loooong way off wearing large itti's so i'm happy to loan them a couple of trifolds

i noticed Daddledoo is having four weeks of sales thi smonth (just before Ms Daddledoo ahs her baby), so look out for that.
if your relative buys
- starbunz (sewn in absorbency with optional pocket if needed)
- daddledoo (price includes a bmaboo trifold)
- genesa forge (price includes a snap in bamboo booster
- blueberry (sewn in absorbency)
no bamboo trifold needed to buy extra. except if child needs more absorbency than the starbunz aio style offers (it's a hybrid).
the concept of inserts in ANY pocket nappy or pocket trainer is that you can use ANY trifold, as long as it FITS.
the trifold, when folded in three, must be AS WIDE as the NARROWEST part of the nappy e.g the crotch.
so if the itti bitti trifold fits that criteria - well and good.
but bear in mind, the itti is a narrow crotch style nappy.
their trifolds are not as versatile, when used in other brand products, as the three sections are pretty well divided - like a prefold. this works GREAT in an itti bitti nappy, but won't suit other products UNLESS they are the exact same width.
whereas a TRIFOLD that has no panels sewn down, is just a rectangle, that you can fold as you wish. the trifold is the most flexible option, cos you can easily fold it to suit either narrow OR wide crotched products (nappies or trainers).
another option for trifolds, would be the microfibre car cleaning cloths. $2 per cloth. to get comparable absorbency, you would need more of them in a pocket, so that would increase bulk.
have you got any peapods bamboo inserts? they would do the trick.

i have about 7 or so that are too small on DS that need rehoming, they are such a good night nappy , DD is still only 8.7 kgs or so , so we only use BBH minky magic alls at night
the Multi fits are good , a bit wide in the legs , but ive never used one on DD , so i cant really say BUT , at my demos they out sell the magic alls so i guess thats a good sign !!!
I was after KK's - but in the larger size - I think I have a m/l here that fits both kids perfectly.
i have 5 size large that dont fit ds ! and 5 size m/l that im not using either
Gigi - She slept 7 1/2 hours again last night and didn't even wet through her cover so It's not every night that she's wetting through. I've heard some people use BBH magicalls as night nappies because they have a pocket you can stuff, has anyone had success with this?
I'm still new to the cloth nappying thing and all the different styles and brands do my head in! Once I fgure out what works best at night, do you think 3 or 4 night nappies will be enough? I'm generally doing washing every 2 days anyway.
I have 4 new nappies coming this week, 3 of which I haven't tried before! I have a blue spot Itti D'lish, a Baby Chilli, a Blueberry Minky and a Minilala. How sad is it that I get excited about nappies? lol. A couple of these (I can't even remember which) are one sized which I haven't tried before, but if I can get one sized that are still cute and trim i'll invest in a few, a bit cheaper long term. The next I want to try is a Cushie Tushie :)

janine - i only use BBH minky magic alls with an extra night booster over night on DD , i have all 13 coulors (plus doubles on a few ;) ) and they make great bay and night nappies !!! its them and ittis is all i use , with a couple of special nappies in the mix , like Genesa forge , if you want special nappies shes a good start !!!!

Also, she's almost 5 kg now, Also I notice the mediums fit from 6kg so am I better off waiting for her to fit them? quick question oh nappie gurus: We are starting to get plummbers crack from our small IB's - does that mean that it is time to upgrade to mediums? Do you buy mediums first and then get rid of the smalls or vise versa?

yep, minky bbh magicalls in licorice and chocolate only though. $17.50. On Ebay from the seller "Babybeehinds" and I am pretty sure it is the company selling stock over run. so annoyed i can't get any of those, little one really hates the bbh for some reason. The licorice ones would have looked so cute with her black and white polka dot dress too :(
Okay, now I admit I need help with MCN addiction. I try coodinating them with her clothes :laugh:
