Hi all! :hello:
Im waiting on fluffy mail too - got a fluffy bubs and some BBH coming :)
Yay for fluffy mail all round!
WOEB: pumpkin pop in
Waiting on 2 lots of fluffy mail now .... IBs in one parcel and some swim nappies and nappy bucket de-smellers (orange stick on things from ozbabytrends)
No matter what I seem to do to de-stink my nappy buckets they start stinking as soon as I put the first nappy in  They REEK! I've 3 buckets that I use in rotation - 2 outside in the fresh air/sun/rain at one time while the other is being used.
- Tried some essential oils (tea tree & eucalyptus from memory) - only worked for a short while (ie before the first nappy went in and then created a really interesting smell)
- airing out the buckets after rinsing buckets when emptied in to the washing machine
- tried sprinkling bi-carb in the bucket = first nappy in not work anymore
- tried soaking the bucket in bleach (without nappies)= worked for a while but by next airing after use  smelly again
- tried just leaving out in the sun - it's alright if you like that warm plastic-y smell mixed with smelly nappies
- rinsing every single nappy before going in including just wet ones and that makes it stink less but DH doesn't rinse wet nappies :( so bucket starts smelling worse again and I will only rinse pooey nappies o/night if they appear - give the wet ones a miss so I don't keep DS up too much so he sleeps more - wakes up far too often for DH's liking
they just reek as soon as I come inside with them and put the lid on.
leave the lid off Liz. It stops the condensation which concentrates the smell
We store the bucket in DS's room - makes a good place to put the nappy before squirting/ while wrestling DS to put his fresh nappy on and there's no room in the toilet to store the bucket :(
Might leave the bucket lid ajar until the first nappy goes in and see how that goes for a while.
leckert - babe wow, it sounds like you have tried every base (except the lid off). We have the bucket in our room and I only close it now IF there is a really stinky nappy in there. It sits right under the window though, not sure if that helps.
I got some fluffy mail yesterday - totally stoked, a couple more sugar shots pockets and a fitted. I LOVE sugar shots!!
Stalking the postie for my maz parcel...... first thing for the little thing in my belly (it seriously hasnt hit me yet)
WOHB - SugarShot Ai2
yep - I found leaving the lid off helps a lot. I don't do anything else anymore and we keep the bucket in the laundry now.
Got my first greenkids and just doing the prewashes, very excited as I won it in a raffel and I never win anything.
We use a flip top bin....gets air, doesnt stink as bad and if my hands a full I just aim and shoot and in it goes :p
Kitten - serious you bought nothing yet???? you have fantastic control woman!!!!
will keep trying with the lid slightly off for a couple days and see how that goes - the lid makes a great temp shelf for the old nappy while changing.
:wall: missed my first set of fluffy mail of the 2 I'm expecting... just got home and found the "missed you, please contact us for re-delivery" note in the letter box :(
my nappy bucket lives in the bathroom with the lid off and I have a separate one in the laundry for poo ones (rinsed) which get sealed. i have 3 total so one is aired, one for poo and one for wee. found if I combine them all in the one the wet poo ones make the pee ones too heavy when balancing baby and bucket as we have an external laundry.
I have super fluffy fluff for DD now. We got a dryer this afternoon and I chucked nappies in to fluff them up! I was stroking one for about 5 mins it feels soo good! DP was quite impressed! Was also easier to fold the trifold for night nappy!
WOCB: Bonnibuns blue choc dot night nappy which is extra fluffy :D
its awesome isnt it?
WOJB: yucky sposie coz the nappies didnt dry still waiting for our BBH nights if they dont come next wekk im gonna be majorly annoyed
I second how lovely dryers are :) I have been drying my nappies in the sun all summer but due to some wetter days, finished the drying in the machine and oh so soft bamboo goodness came out.
WOGB - giraffe CT - soon to be swaddlebees pocket
I try to air dry them as much as possible for that fresh smell but with the cooler days and humidity they just felt a tad damp. was so frustrating because they'd go out 7am and still felt damp when night dew was about to come.
DD seems to like her BBH magicalls now. She used to scream when I put them on but I think because she's at the end of the size scale now they're more comfy. They're a very reliable nappy.
WOCB: Pink camo CT which is a tad soggy because she's hanging out in the bathroom with daddy.
Hi everyone,
This is my 1st post. I'm looking for opinions on the following nappies for my one year old girl who is quite a heavy wetter. We don't have a problem containing poos- they're quite solid:
Motherease sandy's bamboo (with airflow cover)
BBH Magicall, bamboo and petites
swaddlebees AIO
apple chicks pocket nappy
Anything else similar to these???
Decided not to go for itti bittis yet as apparently BBH petites are similar but a bit cheaper.
I'm not looking for a night nappy at this stage as she sleeps so well with a disposable and I don't want to risk interrupting her great sleep habits.
I'm a fan of the cute factor
Also, does anyone have an opinion on fitted vs AIO/AI2?
Thanks:)
Hi Katiejase and welcome to BB.
Well I prefer the AiO/Ai2 vs fitted because DD is so active it'd be a pain to get a cover on after a nappy so means I only have to wrestle her once!
I do like the BBH performance and the petitealls are very nice and trim. I tend to go for OSFM nappies myself so only have 2 sized really. I only swapped from an overnight sposie because DD got bad nappy rash after long exposure to sposies and still i can only use 2 in a row max before she gets blisters and bright red bum. She also tends to wriggle in her sleep lots and the tabs would quite often catch on her PJs and come undone.

Hi Katiejase! :welcome: I'm also a fan of AIO/AI2 because it means that they go in the wash, get dried taken off the line or out of dryer and is ready to be put straight on baby's butt. The less effort the better and putting a fitted on followed by a cover is just not going to happen around here. DH would sooner reach for a sposie. I already have enough trouble with him using one of the few pockets I have for the same reason - that they need to be put together before going on said bottom!
Hello lovely ladies.
Welcome to BB Katiejase you will find so much advice on here so enjoy :D I wish I could help but I haven't started using cloth yet... which brings me to my question.
Today I thought I'd wash all of my cloth nappies, my pockets with PUL covers & bamboo prefolds and boosters along with the microfibre boosters the pocket nappies came with. I got up early and had the 1st load of whites on the line by 7:30 which included that bamboo stuff and at 3pm this afternoon the bamboo stuff still wasn't dry :o It was mainly a sunny day but it was pretty humid, so much so that I noticed that I was rather hot and sticky today, but todays weather is nothing like the humidity in the summer so now I am thinking that it will be a real pain for bamboo not to dry on the line in the winter simply do to the days being shorter and colder and with rain around etc and they may not dry in the summer on the line due to humidity :wall: I'm sure there will be days when they will dry but today was a perfect washing day so I'm pretty disappointed that they are now having to go into the dryer because the clothes airer is already full. Does anyone else have this problem with bamboo drying on the line and most importantly what are your fav newborn 'cotton' prefolds ;) TIA
Yes Cherished. Any humidity here and the bamboo inserts still feel damp. now I usually do them of a night and hang on clothes airer under the eaves. If still damp just before next night's fall I leave another night. Well until yesterday when I finally got a clothesdryer then I will just chuck them in there for 10-15 mins to get rid of the residual moisture. Never used prefolds because I was late being introduced to cloth. Most of the OSFM I use can be used from birth and they actually look a fairly good fit in pics i've seen.

WOCB: BBH Pink Magicall which is a tad soggy. Got Abby Gro orange minky all day ready to go...........as soon as I catch her
