Cloth Nappy General Discussion #196

i depends were you go/how long your out.
if im going out for a few hours, i have enough nappies in a nappy bag to last, dirty ones go in a wet bag under the pram (dont drive if i did theyd go in the car) im just starting to venture into full time cloth wipes so will have a bit of water to go with them. its no mor harder then disposables when out, only you dont chuck them. if we go out to a family thing for the day, ill take 2x nappy bags, one with the nappies and change time bits'n'pices, and one with spare clothes/bottles/toys. ive got 2 in cloth, if only the one would only need one bag for those trips, realy should invest in one large one!

Ok, I figure this is the best place to ask! DS is in cloth at home but we use sposies when we go out on weekends, however we're down to one poop a day (woohoo!) so the old excuse of having to potentially carry around 5 pooey cloth nappies isn't happening anymore (DS was a prolific pooper!). So - what do I need to take with me when we go out? Is it hard to carry around all day?

Depends how heavy he wets. I'll take 2 nappies to playgroup (2-2 1/2 hours), a change of pants and a larger wet bag for DD. I can't remember what brand my wetbag is. If I'm at playgroup I just take facewashers and wet them with water instead of using disposable wipes. I have the wetbag anyway so an extra facewasher thrown in is no biggie. Pixie has never been a sposies out and about child but never had any issues with cloth even if I go for a 4 hour walk into town and potter about. My nappy bag hangs over the rear axles of the pram so weight isn't an issue. The wetbag goes in the bottom. Any poo nappies are first put into a nappy sack then the wetbag in case of seepage if I can't get the solids off after the change otherwise the wetbag is pretty awesome with containing smells.

We are trying out the bcheeks today. I have the waist crossed over in the middle n on medium size and i really like the fit so hopefully no leaks!

Hi Kit! I have a nic-nac nappywrap, so I just load that up with two AIOs (or pockets or whatever, but I make sure they're all ready to go) a ziplock bag with cloth wipes, large and small wetbag, two microfleece liners, wipes lotion and hand gel. If we'll be out longer than two nappies' worth, then I take a couple loose in my bag, or use the Planetwise wet/dry wetbag and stash them in there.

Jaki - That's not too mental! If you like something, have lots of it! I have 4 pockets, 2 workhorse, 2 cotton prints, and a swim nappy. I am going to streamline my stash soon, I find it really annoying having too many different brands. Have figured out what I like, so I'm just going to stick with that - I think I'd like a stash full of GFs, Bonnibuns, and Bubblebubs. That would pretty much do me. And my beloved Bamboozles.

Oh, and covers! I can't go past a maz cover, they're luscious! I also love the Tots Bots covers, prefer the fleece, but the PUL covers are pretty good too. And for nights, a woolly is awesome. Loveybums woollies are nice, BBH do some easy woollies, although I don't like the elastic, and there are some gorgeous handknitted soakers out there.

Roshan came today with a nice squishy package. Not really fluff, it was my Vatanai, but it's still all soft and lovely and good. Just need an awake baby now so we can play with it! :D

As for outings I take. 1-3 nappies depending on where/how long, 3 pre-wet cloth wipes (maz) in a small pea pop wetbag, 2 wetbags one med one large and a cloth change mat. Then I keep a couple of sposies and some wipes in the car for emergencies.

Wowb- bonnibuns natural, bonds nappy pants & babylegs. Super daggy but oh so cute!

Soakers - there's stuff on here somewhere about them. Lanolised woolly overpants that basically wick then evaporate moisture. Wool absorbs up to 20% of its own weight in moisture before feeling damp. Maybe someone can link you, I'm one-handed atm!

WONB: BBH fitted, maz cover. We're heading out for a big long walk in the Vat. It's true love.

There are heaps of different types kitfaerie the itti bitti one's are nice and soft on the outside the BBH one's are good if you are out for awhile. Depends what you want I have heaps lol not that I even get to use them all. I got some miniLala one's few with my nappies.

Kit I love my cooshie tooshie wet bag! It has a big section and then a smaller one snapped on. They are a bit exy tho, just under $30. I only bought one cause it was 40% off :)
The itti ones are nice too. I'm seriously thinking about getting a BBH one cause they are only $13 :D

I hate the zip on the CT wet bag though. I only got one because I saw it for $15 at the melb baby expo. My zipper always jams and I think I'll have to replace it soon even though it's rarely used. I'll stitch a nice chunky one into it like a BBH one has. Second thought, I might just get a BBH wet bag as replacement because I've heard they never die.

Bought a little insert for the loo tonight so I don't have a little Pixie bottom fall in. She had her knees around her ears just about using the potty last night (has mummy's lanky, long legs) so figured the loo seat would rock. More wee tonight this time in the big person toilet and she was sooo excited.

Thats awesome! My friend has a toilet thing for her kid that has a ladder up to their own seat! It sits over the whole toilet.

Come to think of it the CT zip is a little annoying. It's kinda like it's too small for the weight/thickness of the bag.

I was looking at the ladder but it was too much of a tripping hazard for anyone walking to the bath/shower (Meaning I'd find it and KO myself on the bath :lol:). Our loo is against the bathroom wall and if anything else went in foront of it, it wouldn't line up with the shower screen.

I had an el cheapo wetbag that had the zip bust first use so I put a chunky zip on. It was really good after that but it's a small wet bag. If I was to buy one now though, I'd choose the larger BBH with the chunky zip rather than the prettiness of the minky.

I love my Planetwise wet/dry bag cos i can carry all my clean nappies & wipes etc and dirty nappies in one. It has 2 pockets, one that is waterproof for the dirty nappies. Awesome!

Audax (and anyone else who uses bubblebubs) - are the AIO's good for chicken legs? forgot to say before that Das seems to be a bit skinny in the leg department. I have a few small itti d-lish and they still gape around his legs. Any other suggestions for chicken legs (not just nb, just in general)?

Hmmm Wyatt's itti's gape too, even the medium. The best fit on him in the legs from our stash are... Pop in, bonnibuns, miamoo. And china cheapies.
Could you try something fitted like a BBH fitted with a cover?

It's days like today im glad I have a decent sized stash. It rained on my nappies all night! Spewing I left them out :(

Going to watch a friend play footy and I'm gonna be slack and use sposies, all our good workhorse nappies are wet or dirty and I don't want a poo blow out on wyatt's beautiful white fluffy teddybear suit. Also his dad will change sposies :D

i have my seccond lot of nappies in a rock n green soak, never planed to get it, but a free sample came with my mums little outlet package and now df wants me to get it, it smells so good!

Trying out our maz cover tonight! Its a large and huge but still covers the nappy.
