Towel nappies?

Was thinking of getting dd some of those towel nap pies from bigw or kmart I'm guessing you just fold into triangle and use a fastener thing?

Are they any good I just want it for dd so she doesn't have to wear a nappy in this hot weather at home and have something a bit more breathable

Would it need liners?

They are tried and true. There's heaps of youtube videos on the best ways to fold them to fit certain shaped kids/girsl/boys.
I've used cloth for over 7 years and never really used liners, but many do for different reasons.
I won't lie, they do take a bit of practice, but once you get the hang of it you'll be fine.
They are def the cheapest cloth nappy out there.

Do you use 3 way fasteners or those big safety pins?

Can you use them on toddlers too ?

I only just thought if it cause I have to use reusable breast pads as disposable make me sweaty in this weather and I figured it must be the same with nappies

I totally failed the nappy pin lessons at mothers school.....snappis are easy to come by.
Yep fine on toddlers too though may have to change more often as they wee faster, harder and with more volume
I live in the hottest part of the country but I don't often need a cover either as the heat just makes the wetness evaporate faster too.

Yep, we use terry squares as part of our MCN stash. Lots of different folds. Snappies instead of pins are great. Plastic pants are cheap and easy.

Go for gold.

Cheap as chips.

If you want to spend a little more get some PUL covers.

What's a PUL cover?

pul is material similar to the old plastic pants or pilchers, but it is breathable.

baby beehinds is one company that makes them. I have bought a few secondhand.

I use terry flats. I love them. We've just been camping for a week, it's all I used, and I actually prefer them to MCNs now.

PUL isn't really breathable, but it's less toxic than PVC, which is what the cheap placcy pants are made of. My favourite covers for terry flats are Bubblebubs, TotsBots and Thirsties. WeeHuggers too, but they're hard to find now that the company has shut down.

Can you use without the covers or do they leak?

You need a cover of some sort. I got some great covers from Gumtree second hand. You can reuse the covers and just change the nappy. So you don't need that many

Yep, they leak. But if you're looking to save $$ you can grab a 3 pack of the plastic pants ("pilchers") from Big W for about $1.90 and they last for ages. We got 2 x 3 packs in each size. Done.

The PULs breathe better (and then there's wool and other types too) but it depends on how much you want to spend.

Baby Beehinds have PUL covers on sale in their clearance section right now. Think they are $9 each, not sure what sizes they have.
