Poor little thing and poor mum and dad!
Hopefully everyone gets a good nights sleep.
Thanks. It was damn scary. I'm so drained! DD is sleeping well now so I'm chilling out (I'm too high from all the coffee to sleep!). Looking forward to wine AND sleep. My bar opens at 4pm today!
Isn't Phenergen for allergic reactions? It will make baby sleep, because it contains a sedative, but I;m not sure it's a great idea just to use it to make her sleep. I haven't heard of pain stop though, what is it?
Ausgirl - I wanted the Phernergan to *maybe* help dry up her drool (there is bucket loads of it!) and Pain Stop is stronger than paracetamol, it contain codeine. She was actually prescribed antibiotics for suspected tonsillitis late yesterday but ended up in emergency this morning as she had an allergic reaction (severe hives) to either the penicillin in the antibiotics or the codeine in the Pain Stop. The ED doctor prescribed her Phernergan for the hives. Ironic hey. I'm just SO glad she's ok and the reaction didn't effect (or make it to) her throat.
If I were a betting girl I would bet on the penicillian. It is a real problem child when it comes to allergic reactions. Glad you and she are ok. Not surprising that she is so lethargic really given the phenergan. Hope you are all ok now. Take it easy won't you. It can be so exhausting taking care of a sick baby. You need to mother yourself a bit too. You all gonna be ok.

Far out! That must have been scary for you! Have an extra wine or three tonight!
Have lots of wine! Which antibiotic? Dd1 is allergic to ceclor which caused hives and swelling in her joints, apparently is fairly common for kids to be allergic to it.
It was penicillin :(
Arte - OMG, so scary. I completely freaked out! I can't believe she's ok but I'm still worried. Think I might sleep in her room tonight. The hives appeared again after her nap but the Phernergan knocked them down again.
It's been full on. BTW, on my third wine already girls, lol.
If I ever give DD Phenergen (twice in her life) I have to have her sleep with me, I can't sleep otherwise, I'd be up and down all night checking that she is still breathing! Will be good for both of you to have a snuggly night together! :) Hope she's feeling better soon!
You poor thing .... i was feeling guilty about telling you to give the Painstop but you never know these things... know you will have a bottle of phenergan in cupboard wont you ??
Don't feel bad Bubno3! DH and I agreed to try it and we were good with our decision :) We are pretty certain it was the penicillin anyway.
Poor poppet is coming out in hives again. Holding out for a bit longer before I wake her for another dose of Phernergan which will hopefully see her through the night. I'm so scared to sleep although I'm sure she'll be fine - she survived last night. Why doesn't that reassure me?
Winter - I think I'll be sleeping in her room tonight or she'll be in our bed :)
If she has a virus and was given penicillin they can get a rash which does not mean they are allergic to the medicine. I was waiting for DS to get the rash on penicillin 2 weeks ago. He was diagnosed with tonsillitis (hence the antibiotics) but came up monospot positive (glandular fever) which is apparently quite common in children and they often get swollen tonsils as a result, get started on antibiotics (penicillin usually) and then develop a viral rash. Although hives is different again.
Thanks for that Michelle :) It was hives though - still is. They are coming and going but the Phernergan is helping. They are like HUGE mozzie bites, all joined, all over her legs and in patches on her arms and face. I get itchy just thinking about it!
My goodness the pics on FB look horrifying! Like a giant hive is trying to eat her! Poor Izzy, I hope she is feeling better soon xx
Awful, aren't they! And that pic was just before we got the all clear to go home - after the Phernergan had kicked in! Her legs were fully covered in hives like that when she woke yesterday, unbelievable. They will keep coming and going for a few days apparently. Yukko! She was pretty restless last night but we managed to get sone decent, albeit broken sleep.
im like that with amoxicillan but for some reason its only that type of penicillan i react to its horrible and i wont even know if my kids react till they have any
