Pana I just emailed you
Blake is on 5mg 2 times daily but lately he is getting worse (vomiting more, very unsettled when he feeds) is there anything i can do?
Ashlee just refresh me on how you get it comounded? is he on 2mg/ml or 5mg/ml. How often do you get it compounded? Or do you get the tablet.
If it is a compound I would try and see if you can get it compounded every 2 weeks, it really does help, you may notice things getting worse around the two week mark. If you do that, he could need a med increase has it been working or just starting to not work? Maybe you need to see your Dr about getting it increased.
The meds won't stop the actual vomiting, but it should stop the acid coming up with it and stop the burning, the vomiting itself if there is no acid should not hurt him.
I don't think he got a clear picture of what is going on.
The appointment for Dr Naidoo isn't for another few weeks.
Funny, cos I saw our usual GP this time for the referral and he suggested Mark Parker who from the sound of it would have been great! I was tossing up between the two, but decided to go with Dr Naidoo. Fingers crossed!
And Scarlet thanks for your email :).
Maybe you can get in quicker with Dr Parker? I hope the one that Amy and I suggested is good *biting nails* for you guys. I haven't met him, but I know that he is good with Miki...
How is the zoton going?
Touch wood about a million times, things are improving :D.
DS is happy again . His feeding was appalling and worsening before seeing Dr C, and it improved quickly within a couple of days of starting zoton (30mg/day). He even improved all the way to completely normal feeds (!), but now he's starting to fuss in a windy kind of way. The first 10 weeks of DS's life were plagued by wind that for the life of him he couldn't burp up and I'm having trouble getting him to burp again. I'm wondering what kind of effect that would have on reflux (if any?). Possibly if wind can't come up then maybe less acid can escape... Mind you I have re-discovered the joy of bringing up milk when he does finally burp (I guess there is one advantage to silent reflux after all ;)).
I'm pretty sure the zoton is working for us (I hope its not just a honeymoon thing or a normal fluctuation ) and I'll stick with it. I'm wondering (and kind of hoping) that by the time the appointment with Dr Naidoo comes around that he'll be wondering what it is that we are doing there.
I didn't expect such a quick improvement, but looking back the losec probably did kick in quickly for the feeding side though it took two weeks for the general misery to improve. At the time I gave the credit to stopping dairy, but maybe it was the meds? At any rate, it didn't last. Things didn't get as bad this time round so maybe we got in early enough that the zoton could act quickly.
There just aren't enough words to explain how wonderful it is to see DS without pain.
Thank you all again for your support :)
