    Lightbulb Reflux or something else?

Hello ladies. My lil boy Kai is suffering from what I thought is reflux. But it's not just bottles that do it - he also spews after a feed of solids, without even having a bottle, which he has now 3 times a day. He has never seemed to be in pain but it seriously can get quite annoying with the constant spewing - especially if someone else is holding him(embarrassing). I was told to give the infant Gaviscon a try also with perhaps a different formula. I haven't yet taken him to doctors as I haven't been as worried until now. There has to be something I can do to stop the constant regurgitating. I also heard now Mylanta will help. Should I just these a go & if no joy go to family doctor from there.. Just not sure.. Reecie

    Hi Reecie,
It sounds like you have a "happy chucker" as we used to call them at the mother baby support unit I worked at. A visit to the paediatrician may be of some value if you want to see if there is anything they can do but the problem is one which resolves as bubs matures and if causing them no distress the medication may not helpmuch. There used to be support groups for parents with reflux babies as it is quite stressful for mum and dad (may syill be some).
There are lots of things parents can do to help manage this sort of reflux.
Keeping baby upright during feeds and raising bubs head when changing and sleeping can help.
Keeping baby upright for 1/2 hour or so after feeds,
using pacifier to soothe bub (sucking can help),
use baby bum cream on neck and chin to prevent rash from acidic vomit,
use 2 bibs on top of each other at feed times (one plastic),
to remove odour from vomit stains try mixing paste of baking soda and water and spreading on the stain.
I hope your baby is better with feeds soon. Best of luck and hope these tips help a bit.
